40s - last week of March

Cathlete
Starting us off, neck (BOS) pain bad last night (I think just he accumlation of the pain all day just made it so I couldn't take any more) that I even resorted to that awful flexeril, this time I took only 1/4 a pill, 2 hrs later I was calling it bedtime (made me so sleepy), not too much more dizzy. Ice packs all night long, woke up at 1am (to change ice pack) and decided to take 1 valium. Woke up at 6am (easy to do since I went to sleep at 8pm), now taking 1 advil/1 tylenol. Wowzers, that pain will exhaust you. Since this is a w/o checkin, since I do need a shower I will do a cardio coach (walking only) on the TM. I will take it easy. I think maybe it was the abs that started my neck the worse (that's when I felt it when doing HR). At least I know I can take 1/4 flexeril and be ok as long as I'm planning to go to bed soon.

Read the last post of last week's checkin if you don't mind. The more I think of my sister and her god-like chiro DH, the more I believe the path I am choosing is the one for me. Goodness I hope I can get relief soon. 9 more days to MRI, 10 more days for doc, but who's counting? :)

Roxie, we got about 10 inches here. Sun shining now but another little blast is supposed to come in this afternoon. Hope no one else gets the pink eye! I know docs and chiros are at odds, it's hard when you sister is married to a chiro (and she worships the ground he walks on....actually it's pathetic how she is so subservient to him...sorry but even if I'm married I'm still my own person with my own opinions) (he has never in my life adjusted me). It's kind of funny though, the doc asked what all types of therapies I have tried, hot/cold, meds, chiros, physical therapy. Maybe it's an insurance ploy so they can say the patient has tried everything so they can get coverage for what the patient needs.

So I did 2.5 miles at 4 mph on the TM to CC1, better than nothing I guess. I'll try to take it easy this week, I can't have another neck experience like I did yesterday and last night. Venturing out in a bit to get some groceries before the sun goes away!

Hello! YR today. Lisa, I definitely think you made the right choice. You gave the chiro a month. I'm sure next week can't come quick enough for you! The snow is coming our way tonite, kids hoping for snow day tomorrow! Roxie, sorry about little one, don't catch it! Jody, how much longer with the classes? When do they make the infomercial? Ronne, did DH make it home? Murphy, how's your head? Watching the Psych marathon with the kids! Mary

Mary, Psycho? sounds like a fun day! I like watching stuff with my kiddos.

Roxie, sorry about gs pink eye. I hope he is feeling ok. Enjoy your time w/ him this week.

Lisa, it would be more unusual for your sister to not have strong conviction for chiro work. Just assume or hope she is coming from a place of love but still do what is best for you!!

I had planned meeting, green market, workout and friends bd party plus household bills and responsibilities. Ended up going to mom's to take her to urgent care for xay, she fell out of bed and thought she fractured a rib. She didn't but is in pain. That took up most of day, came home and napped then finally did Cross Fire including bonus sections. Disappointed that the whole weekend is gone. Have a nice week, all.

Hi everyone

Jody - Sorry your weekend didn't work out as planned. Glad your mum is OK though. And well done for CF! with all the bonuses? Wow!

Mary - well done on YR!! Yes, he made it back on Sat evening.

Lisa - walking on the TM sounds like a good idea.

Got to get 6 workouts into 5 days this week. Finished week 10 on Sat with SC then started week 11 straight away yesterday with CBS. Did HS timesaver and two levels of Tabatacise today. Pretty pooped after that lot!
Having to take DD to school at the moment as she got a puncture on her bike. We're going to pick it up this afternoon, they've also given it a service. I suspect it needed it!

Hi all. did Brun Sets bi's and tri's. I went up, 10 and 12 lbs on most exercises, with two-pound weighted gloves. I have to write this stuff down.

Mary - I love Psych. We have basic cable so I have to wait for the reruns on Netflix. :-(
Jody - Psych, not Psycho. Psych is a comedy/drama/? show. My oldest (8) and I watch it.
Lisa - I hope you are feeling better.
Roxie - how is gs?
Ronne - focus and get those workouts done. I am tired too from reading what you have done so far!

Murphy

Yesterday wasn't a very good day. Felt like a druggie wanting my next fix. Ended up taking that 1/4 flexeril knowing it'd knock me out so napped for a couple hours. I tell you, that drug will be good for when you just can't get to sleep either! Went to bed early (considering my nap), today I'm OK, not stellar, just OK. Wanted to do something so I did YM. Haven't done that one. Should have taking meclizine, still dizzy (not surprised). Some I skipped that I thought would be bad for my neck. So not a stellar performance but I got out of the chair/bed and moved a bit, ya know? The down dogs are nothing compared to some of the ones on teh YT w/o's. I am gaining an appreciation for yoga even if I'm not limber, I feel less pressure to perform with cathe than YT for some reason. I did notice YT always reminds you to roll your shoulders on your back whereas cathe doesn't. I think that rolling shoulders helps open chest? right?

Mary, we rented Argo. Was good (I didn't fall asleep...I have a habit of falling asleep during movies...it's a joke in the house). Had a hard time hearing them talk and I said there has to be a setting on this rented DVD somewhere (even us computer nerds are technically challenged). Finally found it, it was set up for the hearing impaired!

Ronne, my w/o was still longer than Dh's! I don't think he gets how down I am getting from not being able to do my w/o's. Do you have big plans later in teh week that you need to cram in w/o's?

Jody, you always have a fresh perspective that I appreciate. Glad you Mom is ok. This aging thing is not for sissies! I had set back on my eats too :( boo! I hhope your week of eats go good.

Murphy, and no help from your assistants?

I have work to get done, have splint on right wrist for carpal tunnel (I've had issues for years (at least 10), that's one thing I won't do surgery on because as soon as I stop working it goes away for the most part).

Good morning! Today did the Firm. Lisa, answers will be coming. I'm sorry this has been so rough for you. I do want to see Argo. Ben Affleck is a doll! Murphy, one of the cable networks is doing 99 hour marathon of Psych! That show cracks me up! Ronne, are you going away for the holiday? We are going with friends to a waterpark this weekend. Kids are crazy excited! Jody, haha! Pyscho! Then the kids would be sleeping and showering with me! Hope your mom is ok. That is painful! Roxie, what are you up to? We got about 4-5 inches of snow, no snow day tho! Kids were so disappointed! Have to get to shower, have a good day! Mary

Good Morning,

I got my phone call from unemployment right after I got out of the shower and got my hair fixed so now I am all pretty to do my workout as soon as DH gets of the TM. I am suppose to do Supercuts but I am not a fan of that one so I will do KCM Circuit Blast #2 and some abs then the TM. Its nice and sunny here and its suppose to be great this weekend when the kids come down for easter.

Murphy-I don't get to see gs until tomarrow but DD posted on facebook that he couldn't go to daycare today.

No workouts but came by to say hi. LOL to psych, that makes better sense but I'd enjoy a Hitchcock marathon but my kids wouldn't either.
Ronne, you will be all caught up as long as you work out everyday up to SAt?

Murphy, I was thinking I needed to put sticky notes on my dvds in order to remember why I liked them. I do keep trrack of wts of older workouts that I have details/workout sheets for.

Mary, what kind of crazyness is a water park in snowweather? I'd like a new bathing suit after I finish my rotation.

Lisa, I'm glad you are finding a way to stay with your workouts while injured. It does feel good to be able to do them, I realize. Plus I am finding that even tho extend seems less challenging than most Cathe, the hour long workout 4 times a week is boosting my cathe endurance. I'm sorry for the complication of reduced Cathe right now.

Roxie, have a safe trip to see gs and enjoy. Do you get to babysit all day? soo tired, nite yall.

Hi all. Did CSS today. I skipped some of the burpees. The rest was good but my legs were still sore from Sunday.

Roxie - I hope gs is better.
Lisa - I hope you are feeling better.
Ronne - stick to the workouts, keep going, keep going :)
Mary - how was Psych?
Jody - I need some Cathe endurance, can you pass some my way? :)

Murphy

Hi everyone

Murphy - did you mean you increased your weight by 10 or 12 lbs or you went up to 10 or 12 lbs?

Jody - you're nearly coming to the end of your rotation now aren't you? It'll be like having new DVDs when you get back to Cathe. Do you think you'll buy Xtrain at some point?

Roxie - so does that you mean you get the money?

Mary - I really hope it's not as cold with you as it is here!! Yes, we're going away for a week on Friday.

Lisa - while Cathe's yoga DVDs are good, you don't get the 'full package' as it were. They're pretty much for relaxation only whereas the YT classes are for people who have yoga as their main workout focus. Relaxation and stretching are a benefit but I think the main thing is to do the yoga and improve. Glad we're slowly winning you over. I'll be glad to get a bit of yoga in when I finish the rotation.

Yes, we're having a week away for Easter. DD's off school for nearly three weeks and I just thought we had to go away, couldn't spend all that time at home! So we're going to Exmoor which is a national park about 3 hours drive away. Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to be absolutely freezing. Hope the house we're staying in has good heating.
So, I've crammed week 11 in, then I take a week off and come back and do week 12. Not ideal, I'd have preferred it the other way round, but can't be helped.
Did BS B&T today. These last two weeks aren't too bad as I'm ticking off a lot of the workouts for the last time. Having said that I do like BS so will definitely come back to it.

Good morning! I did Tabatacize this morning, painful, but fun! Goes quickly. Ronne, you always do the best vacations! You could do snow hikes, cross country skiing? Fires, hot chocolate, weenie roasts? Roxie, you shower before you workout? Jody, I know about the waterpark! I imagine it will be crazy busy. DH and I have to work next week, so this is a little fun for them on their break. Hope you don't have to hide too much at clinicals this week! Murphy, I can honestly say I am almost Psyched out! It has been on non stop since Saturday night and continues until tomorrow night! The kids are loving it! Lisa, how are you doing today? Hope the pain abates for a bit. Well, back to work! I did get offered a transition class, only 4 days. Of course there is a catch! 2 weekends in a row, 12 hours! I haven't worked a weekend in 10 years! The money is too good to pass up, so I will pull up my panties and do it! It's only 48 hours, I can do it! Talk to you later! Mary

Good Morning,

I did XT AOLIH and I can't understand why I have a dread factor with this workout it is fun. DD sent a text that GS is throwing up in alot of pain and not sleeping she is taking him to the dr this morning but we are still going up to see him.

Mary-I don't normally take a shower before my workout but I didn't know what time the phone call was coming they said anywhere between 8-12 and I couldn't sit around waiting on them so I got showered to start my day and then they called after I finished.

Ronne-I won't know for 7 days if it is approved and then I have to wait another 3 days before it shows up.

Jody-buying a new bathing suit is always a great motivator and reward.

No w/o yet, slept in. Actually slept great, woke up at 2am with that familiar pain starting and said I'm taking valium, I'm not going to let it interfere with my sleep! I think after 3 days of loading up on drugs got the pain back under control. 3 advil, 3 tylenol, 1 valuim and 1/4 flexirel may not sound like much to you nurses but that's a lot on a continual basis for me! I'm trying to cut back 1 each on advil/tylenol today until I seem to need them again (probably couple of days). DH had to go to customer site here locally so will only see him after work now, I have no one here to nurse me now :( I hate when I get all settled into a position only to realize I forgot something! I plan to do MMA KB over lunchtime (work on pause because they don't know what they are doing/wanting), making sure to make teh intervals LI.

Been googling my condition more and more (so that I know what they are talking about when I go back to dr). Found some interesting things from a spine surgeon in Vail.

1. If the pain radiates down the arm or up the back of the head, this is not normally disc or facet pain but nerve pain and can occur in conjunction with neck pain. It results from compression of the nerve root which is a by-product of cervical degenerative disc disease.

2.

Generally, chiropractic treatment is very effective for management of spinal pain. Nerve pain may be improved by this form of treatment but manipulation of a painful nerve may aggravate it.

So that fits with what the doc told me, I have NERVE pain, no wonder chiro wasn't working and at times that BOS pain would escalate like no other! Makes me feel better about going MD route, and if needed I found another doc nearby for 2nd opinion.

Roxie, that sounds about like my luck, get all ready just in case and then it turns out you can do a w/o. I guess I need a shower today (you all must think I stink!) Not sure I'll do my hair, no one here to see me and since I'm getting such a late start a ponytail sounds good to me :) I hope GS is ok, poor little thing, it's so hard when they don't feel good!

Ronne, not sure I would ever progress very far with yoga, but I do appreciate it more now. I would have enjoyed it more had I not been dizzy or stiff/hurting neck. Hopefully one day because I'd hate to find something else I would like to do and not be able to do it! I just realized Easter is Sunday, my SIL is in town and we were going to go to our fav sushi place but it is closed. I'm defnitely not cooking in my state (for 10 people), so ordered mexican from a local mexican place, buy a cake/ice cream, calling it good enough! I worry I'll either be in pain or doped up too much, the family has been so good about helping out (though they do not do things like I do!)

Mary, I'm still confused by the waterpark, is it indoor? Glad to hear you have your big girl pants for your weekend work. I have to put mine on for when I'm on call, really hate those middle of the night calls.....getting too old for that!

Murphy, and do you speed up on those mtn climbers when cathe says to ? I go at same (slow) speed :D

Jody, I have a hard time remembering what's in all the w/o's, then when I do them, I'm like, oh yeah, that's in here--then it's either YEA! or UGH!

did MMA KB but abs from MMA fusion since most of those are standing, didn't do the ground and pounds, I didn't need pounding!

Lisa, exactly! " I have a hard time remembering what's in all the w/o's, then when I do them, I'm like, oh yeah, that's in here--then it's either YEA! or UGH!"

Its after 9 and I have long day tomorrow so I should go prep lunch, scrubs, paperwork, etc. But I really want a workout. I was in the mood for one this morning but too late in morn since I had school. School was long and usual random chaos (wish I could go home and read text and skip most of class), tutor session was disjointed since I had students in two different sections of text and xtend class was MEH. ***Felt like a day of misfires***
Go to sleep and hope for smooth tomorrow or perpetuate the madness and try to cram in a sweat-fest at bedtime?

Good Evening,

I got to spend time with GS even though he has double ear infection and the flew, poor baby wanted to smile and play but he just wasn't feeling well I am hoping he is better Sunday.

Hi everyone

Roxie - oh, your poor GS. Hope he's better soon.

Jody - so what did you go for? Don't forget you could always do something really short, like a tabata from TTM or CF.

Lisa - well done on the workout (and being sensible). Sounds like a good plan for Easter Sunday!

Mary - did you do the whole of Tabatacise? Nice suggestions, thank you. There won't be any snow, just very very cold! Fires and hot chocolate sound good! (I don't even know what a 'weenie' roast is!!)

Xtrain Legs ticked off today. One more to go for week 11. Roxie, are you finished now? DD finished school today, so not a lot of time. Got to get work finished before we go.

Good Morning,

Today is XT BS CB&S along with the TM and some abs. Its partly sunny today with a chance for rain I am hoping it will calm things down.

Ronne-I am on the last week and so ready to move on to something else. DD said GS didn't have a good night last night and just wants to cuddle today poor baby.
