40s are best!

Hi everyone

I thought I'd get us started this week for a change.

Getting back to a bit more regular working out again. I did KPC yesterday - it was my first Cathe DVD this month! I was really surprised. Today I did a KCM premix from Body Training, one of her new ones. Really effective without killing me (the kind of workouts I enjoy at the moment).

DD is on half-term this week so it's a bit of a pick and mix week with various things on. I took her to see Up last Friday. Has anyone seen it yet? It's fantastic! Probably my favourite film this year!

Bye for now.

Hey, Ronne, You have school break all ready? Today I did Jari's original Ripped, didn't want to do anything too strenuous! Yesterday I did the cardio from DM. I haven't seen Up yet, I know it comes out on DVD next month, will be a good family movie night. I like KCM, body training, it is nice for light days. Well, I need to get moving, have to run into work and run to the store for dinner tonight. Have a good day! Mary

Hi all,

Okay, last week I joked about "feeling 40". Saturday I am jogging with my Wii, take a break and my knee starts hurting me. It feels like something is out of alignment. I get it back to where I can stand on it and then try to move again and OUCH, more pain. What the heck? I stopped for the day but was bummed b/c I had 10 more minutes to go. I did some "light" Insanity yesterday and today and my knee was fine. I also did Illaria's abs and push-ups dvd. I like her push-up portion but am on the fence with the abs. My biggest frustration is that I cannot hear her. The music is not loud, just louder than her voice and at 5 am, I cannot blast the tv.

Mary - thanks for the heads-up on the thread.

Hey everyone! Thanks for getting us started Ronne! Let's see I took a rest day on Saturday, I just couldn't get motivated for anything, then Sunday I did STS M2 Legs week3 (whatever disc that is). Today, I have glute DOMS. I did C/S/T from week 3 today. Not sure what is on tap for tomorrow. If I get up early then I feel I need to do an hour long workout, if I get up late then I'll just do a 30 min one....I'm hoping for the later :)

Ronne, that's great that you can get an effective workout without killing yourself. Not sure if that works for me, my jeans have been feeling tighter and I don't know why!?

Mary, DM cardio is tough, no wonder you went for ripped the original the next day. I'm sooooo looking forward to my rest week, but the thing is that I'll feel I need to kill myself with cardio....stupid me.

Murphy, I have a twinging knee, the lateral moves seem to affect it the most, even more than a double richochet move. In fact it felt twinging today on my walk so I'm trying to figure out what kind of cardio I should do tomorrow to be kind to it.....more than likely the bike, but if I have DOMS that isn't going to work....man, my body is feeling 40 these days :(

Gotta run, have a happy Monday all!

Hello!

Murph - you and I must have been posting at the same time yesterday. Great minds think alike! Hope the knee isn't giving you too much trouble.

Mary - when do your kids finish? DD's only off this week, back to school again on Monday. She's at an activity camp today and tomorrow so I can get some work done then I'm off with her again Thurs/Fri.

Lisa - you're working so hard! How are you finding it revisiting STS? Are you still using the same weights from last time or have you moved up?
One thing I have noticed from not pushing it so hard is that I'm hardly ever getting injured now. I may not be as fit but my body seems to like it! ;)

Well, my abs are killing me! I can't remember the last time I had DOMS there. I haven't done any straightforward ab work for weeks and I guess it shows! It even hurt to laugh last night!

Tonight is kettlebells so I'm not doing anything during the day. Hope everyone has a good Tuesday.

Hi all,

The knee feels better but my let felt weak this morning. I did my afternoon walk yesterday but took it easy and I did not jog the stairs like I usually do. I also took this morning off with the hope that I can get in another Insanity workout. I am a little hesitant b/c this one is 50 min (most ar 40 or 30) and is Max cardio or whatever. Max? Weren't the others max? I hope to report in tomorrow! :-0

Murph

Hi ladies! Today I took it easy and only did the stab ball abs from Ab circuits. I was awake at 3:30am and worried that I wouldn't get back to sleep and therefore there would be NO reason not to do a good hour long cardio workout, but alas, I got back to sleep! Yea! My body thanked me as I still have DOMS in legs/glutes from Sunday!

Ronne,
I'm using the same weights as last time I did STS (maybe a bit because I'm not pushing myself to the super extreme), except for chest, I'm up 10-15 lbs for presses....chest was always a weak area so it really helped that. So, for example, I did 12,10,8 reps with 50,55,60 which is a lot for me (nuthin for Cathe).

Murphy, you are insane! Is it possible these insanity workouts are causing some of your knee/leg issues?

Hi to Mary and anyone else lurking!

Lisa - I thought about the Insantiy workouts being the cause of my leg issues but I had a week off. I think it may be the workouts plus the extra jogging that I have been doing in preparation for a 5k. I have not jogged in 4 years! I should have started preparing earlier, the race is in 2 weeks.

Hi all! Today was LIS from 4ds, quick and painless! We were at Target today (love that store!) Total impulse buy, Jackie Warner's new one, a circuit w/o, I will let you know how it is. Mowed the grass again yesterday, I am really hoping that it was the last time for the season! Murphy, you are doing a 5k? Impressive! Make sure you let us know how it is for you! Hey Lisa, what were you doing up so early/late? My DH was up at 2:45, because the dog was licking and making him insane!! Ronne, our kids will be off for a couple days around Thanksgiving, then 2 weeks for Christmas, can't believe how fast time is going. (except when I am at work, then it seems to drag? Coincidence?) Hope you had fun with your kettlebells! Good night all! Mary

Okay, overslept - the rain really lulls you to sleep doesn't it. Anyway, I plan to get it in tonight. Let's hope I can. I want to stay on track. I was supposed to get a workout in last night but DH - get this - needed help giving the kids a bath! How come I can come home from work, cook dinner, play with the kids, give them baths, read books and put them to bed yet he cannot do the same? It is usually one thing at the most! Is it just me?

Murph

Hi everyone

Lisa - I can't believe those weights! That is amazing . Can you leap tall buildings at a single bound as well? :D Glad you're getting your rests in.

Murph - take it easy with that knee won't you? I'm always impressed with people who run any kind of distance. Have you run this one before?

Mary - I've not heard of Jackie Warner. I just also had a bit of an impulse buy. I just ordered Patrick Goudeau's original Hard Work Conditioning because it was reduced at Collage. I then stuck another 3 DVDs off my wishlist on there! That is it for this year, I'm buying no more!

I'm going to do some yoga today as stretching between the two kettlebell classes. Last night was good, worked harder than before.

I may not get time to check in again this week, my mum's coming down tomorrow and staying till Sunday and I probably won't be able to get away ;).

See you all next week.

Hey there, so the snow is flying here! Snow day for my DS, lucky dog! Maddy also loves rolling around in the white fluff. So far about 8" with up to 18" possible, it will be snowing for another 24 hrs. Poor DH had to drive into work everyday this week, better him than me. I'm still bored at work, I just got something to do and now I don't want to do it....it's something to do but still sooooooo boring! I have to keep reminding myself that boring is good! I'm at the stage in my life that I'm not trying to prove anything and am just a contractor so I just do what they want me to do, no more, no less.

So, I did an hour long run today (5.25 miles). It's always a struggle to get going but afterwards I feel so good.

Ronne, I may have muscles but no flexibility....never had any, I envy you flexible people! Enjoy your mums visit!

Mary, that is a nice short sweet workout, but I still get the sweat going on it!
Darn blasts will do it to you everytime.

Murphy, My DH always was great with kid things, it's the cooking he absolutely can't do, and the housework only if asked and I hate asking all the time. Good luck on your 5K, you can do it! My knee was hurting me a bit this morning (along with my plantar fascitis) but once I get all warmed up --- about 20 min it's all good. Where does the knee hurt? Mine is inside lower part, in fact I'm not wanting to ski too much this year because it aggrevates it more.

Well, gotta go do that boring work! Any yes Mary, it's the non fun things that seem to d-r-a-g

Hi girls! Hope everyone is having a good day! Don't know what I am going to do today, weights of some sort, I'll figure it out. Murphy, I know my DH cannot multitask either, one thing at a time, usually with some assitence from me! Does make me crazy sometimes, on the other hand, just remember (this is what I tell myself) He loves you and just wants to spend time with you!? Ronne, Jackie Warner is on some reality show on Bravo, it is called Work Out, they follow her thru her life and her gym, it is like a car crash you can't stop watching, but her body is phenomanal! I will have to go over to Collage and see what they have on sale this week! You are enabling me! Lisa, how are you? Hope everyone has a good day. Ronne, have fun with your Mom! Mary

Hey Mary, I think we were posting at the same time! The reason I wake up sometimes is my neck hurts.....it's a residual injury from a bad car accident I was in when I was 5. Back then, kids rode in the front seat with no seat belts! All I remember is the blood, and ambulance and the stitches in my head (my head went through the side window). But years later (in my 20s) I had a chiro tell me there was an old injury to my neck and I think that is what it was from.....back then we didn't get ins settlements like they seem to do today. So stress will flare it up big time. BTW, it was my Mom's friend who was driving us to kindergarten that ran a stop sign that got us into the crash and I got the worse of it.

Hi all,

I think I am being punished for my DH comments yesterday. I am all dressed to workout and then my husband tells me he forgot to iron a shirt and can I do it for him. I say yes but grudginly, tellling him it will cut into my workout time. Then, they kids wake-up and start fussing. !?!?!?!?!? He stays with them to get them back to sleep while I go iron - 2 shirts and make his lunch (forgot that too). I am watching the clock and the time is passing very quickly. I decide to just get dressed. The kids are still up so I get them dressed and off to daycare an hour earlier than usual. I then went food shopping before work. Some days are just crazy.

Murphy

Hey everyone, we have 2 ft of snow here! We WERE going to mow one last time this weekend, uh, guess not. I did STS Disc21 Back/Bi.

Murphy, Just say to yourself "this too shall pass". Sounds like a crazy morning, hopefully you'll get to do something tonight.

Hi everyone else, gotta run, I actually am working hard...er, well, semi hard....was busy taking snow pics this morning and posting on FB.

Yeah, I got an ab/push-up workout in. I brought my yoga mat, portable dvd player and the Illaria dvd and did the workout in the office. I am really happy I got it in. Of course I won't tell DH about it, I want him to give the kids their bath so I can get someting else in! :)

Did anyone see the recent flickr pictures for the two most recent installments. All I can say is wow. These women look fantastic. There is one shot of Lorraine's back - incredible. They all look really good. I wonder where Jai is, she is missing form this one too. I hope she is not being replaced - that contest to be in a Cathe dvd.

Murphy

Hi, How is everyone? Lisa, I would gladly mow the grass than deal with what you are! So early in the season for so much snow! Murphy, what do you do that you can work out at work? Did you close the door? You should have invited everyone in to participate with you! Today I did PH, moves so fast! I like STS with all the breaks! Murphy, I would have made my DH a sardine sandwich with limberger cheese! Then next time he would remember to make his own lunch! I did see those pictures for STS cardio, I think I read somewhere they are going to tape more w/o's this weekend. Have a good night! Lisa, stay warm. Mary

Hi everyone,

I agree with you Mary about Lisa's snow. I like snow and I like the kids to play in snow but I like the sun and grass even more. Good luck to you Lisa. :)

Office workouts - I close my office door and put my yoga mat on the floor and go to it. I brought in a portable dvd player but may ask them to put the dvd program on my computer. It would make things easier. No aerobics, only floor/mat stuff. I look forward to doing travel fit in the office. That reminds me, Mary, I too saw where they are supposed to be filming again this weekend. I don't want to jinx it but things seem to be going at a good pace. I guess b/c music is not an issue and they are short programs helps. I cannot wait to get them.

Anway, today is jog day, tyring to get some in for the 5k. I am not sure what I will do over the weekend.

See you all on Monday, happy exercising and Happy Halloween!
