40's and still hot - Week 9/9/12

Aww, Mary and Lisa, all this kids dating and growing up stuff, it sounds sweet. ($$ too). Oh well, I admit, both my parents still take care of me in different ways at different times. Enjoy, ladies

Jody, it seems the $$$ never stop! Enjoy parents spoiling while you can!

Had a nice Friday afternoon out with DH. So nice and relaxing, wandering from store to store (nothing in mind to buy but had some kohl's cash, etc). Lunch, a yummy Italian Margarita. Life was good, why do we have to work?

Good Evening,

Tonite I went to the gym and did intervals on the elliptical.

Jody-your story was funny.

Lisa-I don't know but I wish I didn't.

Back to Cathe today. MMA boxing. My knee starting bothering me (yes, another body part about to fall off) so I had to skip the last combo. I did the upper body work and the lower body work, just not the combo. Funny, as I sit here, my knee feels better. Tomorrow I have a FitPrime on schedule. Those are the dvd's made by the original The Firm founders after they sold The Firm. I like them, they are in the tradition of the original The Firm's. I like the first batch, the second set...

Jody - loved your story. That is something that would happen to me. :)

Murphy

PLB today. Started with LBB but realized I didn't want all that cardio, just some good leg w/o.

Murphy, welcome to the middle 40's, just wait until you get to the late 40's, OY!

I'd like to join you guys. I'm 43, a stay at home wife but we do have April <---. I've only exercised since 06, mostly to lose weight, but I have to admit I feel better in my 40's than I did in my 30's. I slacked off for most of the summer due to the heat and a leg injury, but I'm trying to be consisitant at least.

Today I'm cleaning house but I started my morning with P90M Plyo Legs, I usually clean house first but the past few weeks I've started with my workout so I don't run out of steam.

I know Faith from another checkin, but I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome Penguin! When I stayed home I always worked out first, then I did the house cleaning (a little each day). I exercised in my teens/early 20's then kids came. Got back into it in 07 (to lose weight and get healthy). My kids (2 boys) are all grown and either away at college or married. Where are you at? I'm in CO, and I agree, it was a HOT summer! You are probably one of the younger ones here, some of us are almost ready to get kicked out of the 40 club, or rename it to 40's+ club. I just turned 48, this year I've definitely noticed a change in my health/stamina....but that could just be because I'm working more than I would like (stress, etc).

I have to post, don't you hate it when Cathe says "Did you feel that?" And you are thinking YES I DO PLEASE STOP!

Lisa, thanks for the welcome. I'm in Memphis, TN. I tend to break up cleaning day into small chunks, both for my sanity and my back. I'll vacuum around the baseboards {where the 'fur tumbleweeds' collect}, take a break, vac the floors, break, mop bath and kitchen, break, mop 1/2 wood floors, break {I"m here now} then mop the other half, then clean the bathroom. Hubby works Tues- Sat so this is our Friday, I feel better going into the weekend with a clean house.

One of my first Cathe workouts was Low Max off of FitTv. During a blast she says something like "can you feel that? I thought you would!" Its the first time I'd ever laughed during a workout and realized that exercise can be fun, not just torture.

Good Evening,

I went to the gym this morning and did 30 mins on the stationary bike and then the wt machines. DH and I went to the lake today but it was to cold for me to do anything but read a book. Baby boy is sick nasal drainage and vomiting so he is not allowed to have visitors, I am having withdrawals.

Lisa-good job with your workout.

Murphy-way to listen to your body.

Penquin-I am 47 with 2 grown dd's and now a grandson. I live in Kansas so I hear you about the heat. I discovered Cathe in 2007 and just became consistent with my workouts this year. I hear you on cleaning up the fur balls we have a dog that belongs to my youngest dd and he leaves hair everywhere. Welcome to the group.

Roxie, thanks for the welcome. I tend to go through phases, I'll be consistant for a while then just stop exercising, but I finally realized I do feel better when I watch what I eat and exercise. Praying your GS is better

After dinner I made Hubby drive me to a few Targets and a Walmart in search of the Weider system which is supposed to be on clearance for $15. The only sets I saw were at Walmart full price. At the last Target I found a 20lb kettlebell for $15 which I didn't really need but couldn't resist. I insisted on carrying it to the checkout myself yelling "My Toy!" everytime Hubby tried to take it from me, much to the delight of the woman behind us, who chuckled.

Good Morning,

Its a rainy drizzly day here good day to watch football. I will do Yoga Relax later. I forgot to add STS Med Ball abs to yesterdays workouts.

Penquin-that was a cute story.
