40's, 40's and more 40's

Murphy

Cathlete
Okay, starting off for the holiday week. I did 4DS/BC yesterday and 4DS/KB today. Tomorrow is jumprope madness with Michael Olajidae.

Murph

Hey you all....I've been lazy with the checkin....been off in Mafia Wars land on Facebook....I got totally sucked in. I've been exercising, mostly GS and 4DS....thinking of a STS rotation but like Mary's idea of waiting for STS cardio. Any word on that? I don't read the forums here anymore.

Everything's going well here (including Madison), but out of the blue my former employer (IBM) called me to come back to work as a contractor....they can't find anyone with the skills and I guess their global resources aren't working out so well either. I'm flattered and am probably going to go back and see how it goes...thankfully it's a programming position that I liked pretty much. It's going to kill me working 40 hrs a week in an office....I'm hoping to stay with my exercising (and dog walking). I may need this checkin more than ever! Hey with making this money, maybe I'll get to France someday after all :)

Gotta run, I'll try to be better with checking in and the personals.

Kathryn, glad to hear DD is doing well!

Bye!

Oh and any tips staying fit working a full work week from anyone here that does it? I'm hoping as a contractor it will be a little less stressful. :) So far, here is what I'm planning:

5:15am - wake up - get coffee, look at personal emails- checkin from prev day on cathe forums
6:00am - give dog her pills, and take her for her 3 mile walk (unless it snows or is bitterly cold --- we are heading into winter, in which case do a cathe step or treadmill)
7:00am - get back from walk, feed dog, drink another cup of coffee, oatmeal
7:30am - shower
8:00am- drive to work
8:30am - work
4:30pm - leave work
5:00pm - get home, eat dinner than hopefully DH has made
6:00pm - take dog for a short 1 mile walk - 15 min tops, spend next 45 min doing Cathe weights or some other more intense cardio
7:00pm - relax- have protein shake
9:00pm - bed

Is this doable?

Lisa - glad to hear that Madison is doing better and glad to hear that IBM is looking to bring you back. Your schedule is doable. Your a cathlete, you can do anything!

Hi girls! HOpe everyone had a good holiday. Lisa, so glad to see you back! Congrats on the job! When do you start back? Glad Madison is doing well. Murphy, Do you use an actual jump rope or do you pretend jump rope? My w/o area is carpet, I pretend! Today I started BM2, so many interuptions! So annoying. Tomorrow I go back to kettlebell class, haven't decided if I really like it yet! Hi to you Ronne, Kathryn, Andrea! It is garbage night. I better get moving. Talk to you all tomorrow. Mary

Hi everyone

Murph - you're really organised on the workout front at the moment. I'm impressed!

Lisa - good to see you back. Good news on the work offer and Madison. Your schedule would kill me! 5.15am! I moan about getting up at 7.30. I'm sure you'll manage it though.

Mary - did you finish BM2? I never do that all the way through - it's just too much.

Today I did an hour of yoga, yesterday was step. I'm waiting for the new KCM's I ordered to arrive. My kettlebell course is starting next week so I'll see how that goes and what I want to fit around it. It'll give me more time to get work done during the day at least. Hi to Kathryn who I saw was back last week and to Andrea if you're lurking!

Bye for now.

Has anyone heard of Ilaria (Illaria)? I saw her on collage video and she has an abs and push-ups dvd. It got great reviews but I don't know anything about her. I was thinking of getting it for the push-ups. Thoughts anyone?

Scubagirl - I pretend to jump rope. My area has carpet too.

Ronne - I only seem organized. I am sure it is just temporary. :0)

Hi all, I did 4ds Legs weights only part and Calves today. Tomorrow DH and I are taking Maddy hiking before my freedom runs out. Got the official offer today, barring any criminal activity that may turn up I'll be on the job in about a week....I wish for 9/21 but doubt I'll get my wish.

You girls (ronne, mary) are really into those kettlebells, huh? I'm not a LOVER of them, they are good for a change of pace. bothers my right shoulder though, I must be doing something wrong since I've never taken a class, but why only the right and not the left?

Murphy, I'm devoted to Cathe, so don't know anything about Illaria.

Mary, I can never do BM all the way through, I did that ONCE and that was enough! kudos to you!

Kathryn, come on girl, where are you?

Ronne, I do much better getting up at the same time every morning and I'm a morning person....I could never get up that early if I didn't hit the sack at 9 !

Until tomorrow ladies....

Hi Girls! You are all so funny, You actually think I did all of BM2!! I did the step , (skipped the power circuits) then did the upper body. I did it all once! I just don't have an hour and half to w/o! Murphy, I have one Ilaria, a powerstrike, I like it, her voice is pretty cool, not a lot (or any) jumping, just punching and kicks. This past weekend, went to the local half price book store, got 2 Amy Bento's, In the Ring and ASC, at a bargain. I was excited, don't know if I will actually do them (love Cathe) but now I have them. Make sense? Lisa,, enjoy your last days of freedom! Hopefully, your criminal record will come up clean! LOL! I didn't make it to kettlebell class today, too much homework (kids) maybe next week. I still don't know how I feel about them yet. Ronne, do you do a lot of yoga? I haven't developed a fondness for it at all. Maybe I need to give it another chance? Well, just finished MM, need to get to the shower, we are playing hooky and going out to dinner! Mary (Hi, to Kathryn and Andrea!)

Hello everyone

Murph - I've seen the Ilaria clips and they look good. I've never bought any of hers but she seems to get good reviews.

Lisa - so as long as they don't find any skeletons in your cupboard you're going to be rejoining the world of the full-time workers! Did you give up that job you had with the nutritionist?

Mary - I've done yoga on and off for years (started with classes first). I just like the change of pace from cardio/weights stuff. If you've never taken a class, I think it's difficult starting with dvds, etc. If you do fancy trying some for free though, eoin finn does podcasts from his website that you can download for free. I've started doing the yoga today free weekly class, just one hour a week and it's different every week. You can stream that from their website if you register.
How was dinner?

Today I pulled out a real oldie, Karen Voight's Great Weighted Workout. It's so dated, but there's some good stuff in there. I'm avoiding heavy weights with starting kettlebells next week.

Well, it's almost time to get DD from school. Going to the library to pick up some more books.

Bye for now.

Hi! (Sorry so late... long weekend!)

Okay, the long weekend threw me off. I can't seem to get a free moment when the kids are around, and then I spend days afterward catching up. But here I am -- better late than never, I guess!

Murphy, I've got Ilaria's videos (check her website: www.powerstrike.com). I really like Powerstrike 5 -- it seems simple but I never fail to work up quite a sweat. Maybe preview her on Collage Video first. Once you get used to her accent, she's pretty easy to follow.

Okay, now to the workouts: I did IMAX 2 on Saturday with DH (his first time ever). I give him a lot of credit for hanging in there, because he hasn't done any step and it showed... but he didn't give up. This morning I did LowMax... and he worked out on the elliptical!

Lisa, welcome back! I know we've been seeing each other on Facebook, but I miss my Cathe check-ins. There are so many things that I can say here that I wouldn't post there. (I have too many "friends" to be able to say just anything, like I can here!)

Speaking of which: DD is happier by the day, and I am so relieved! I'm also secretly glad to not have to make tuition payments (for her school; I still have DS to pay for). Business has been awful this year! :( I hope the economy picks up. Not to be boring or anything...

Well, speaking of work, I'd better go do some. Lisa, when does the IBM gig start? Are you excited? Do you get -- I mean, need -- to buy new clothes? Keep us posted!

Bye, all!

Okay, resting today.

Kathryn - thanks for the info on Illaria. I am still on the fence, but she does get great reviews.

Thank you to everyone for their Illaria input!

Murph

Hey yall, yep, it's nice to be here on this checkin Kathryn, so much more that we girls can chat about (when we have the time!).

Ronne, I'm still doing the nutrionist thing --- it dropped off to about 2 hrs a week (the economy and all)....she is open to keeping our relationship going (she needs me for some reason---ah nice to be needed). I did outline what I can and can't do which is good because she needs to be more commited to HER business!

Kathryn, I think I'm ok on the clothes front....I'm thinking of, sit down, a new CAR! Not going to jump into it and it would depend on if my BFF bought my car for her daughter....no hurry...but the idea rolls around in my head. Glad to hear things are going so well for your daughter...a real trooper!

Mary, I can't get into yoga either....I think it's because I'm VERY unflexible...always have been.

Ronne, are you flexible?

The IBM gig starts either Wed (16th), or Monday the 21st...I'm pushing for Monday --- that's what's in my acceptance letter and why rush back? Actually I have some things to tend to...one of which I'm getting a cleaning lady! woo hoo....only every month though (quieter woo hoo).

Hi Murphy!

Eek, forgot to post my workout I was so chatty. We hiked in the mountains for 2 hrs! It was wonderful...Maddy loved it but I had to keep MAKING her rest....she's old and sick and doesn't know it and thinks she's a pup still. I'm hoping DH and I can do one more mid week hike next week (fingers crossed)

gotta run...bye!

Hi everyone! Late today! Murphy, got me thinking about Ilaria, so I had to pull that out, was 40 min. into it, realized DS had cross country, had to stop that, so we took the dog and the other 2 and I ran the stairs and hills, was fun, actually pretty hard! Lisa, enjoy your last few days of freedom! Probably will feel like the 1st day of school, good to see all your friends.. Kathryn, so glad to hear about your daughter, I'm glad the transition is going well. Ronne, do you like Karen Voight? Her voice is so soothing , puts me to sleep! Well, I have to get these kids to bed! Talk to you later. Mary

hello everyone

kathryn - hello! glad to hear that your daughter is settling in at her new school and things are going well for her. Work sems to be drying up a bit this end as well so I know how you feel.

lisa - Yes, I am quite flexible, particularly hamstrings (not hips at all, I can't do lotus). A lot of the poses need some leg strength though and I've noticed improvements there from the weights. The hike sounds wonderful, by the way. I bet you live in a lovely area for hiking.

mary - karen voight was my first dvd instructor so I have a soft spot for her. Don't use hers much anymore. So you did some KB and then a cross country run?! Wow.

You all do so much outdoors stuff, you put me to shame!

No workout for me today. It's our 10th wedding anniversary and we're going away for the weekend (with DD as well). Going to the seaside, weather's looking good so we're hoping to do some nice clifftop walks and play on the beach. We're going to a seafood restaurant tonight for a big blow-out!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Ilaria today...

All that talk of Ilaria inspired me to do Powerstrike 5 this morning... that, and the fact that I had to do a shorter workout because of time!

Ronne, happy anniversary! A seaside trip sounds wonderful. We love the beach and spend lots of time there.

I also used to do a lot of Karen Voight, but haven't since I got into Cathe's workouts. Mary, you're right about her voice -- it's sleep-inducing (which may not be a good thing when you're working out)!

Outdoor workouts? You all are so good! The only outdoor exercise I get is golf and the occasional run (usually on the beach). A person would actually have to leave the house to do outdoor activities.... :D

By the way: I have actually conquered Mt. Washmore... I'm caught up with the laundry. As in, folded and put away! Of course, that will end when the kids come home and start shedding clothes all over the place. :(

Well, off to work. Have a great weekend, everybody! I'm going to rest up because I start Mesocycle 3 on Monday.

Hi All,

I did parts of HIS today. I am step-challenged so it is always an adventure. I use the firm transifirmer step and don't really like it but I don't have the money to buy a new one. I also have the firm steppers that I use - mostly for when Cathe just uses the risers.

Anyway, glad to hear that everyone seems to be having a bearable week. Have a bearable weekend and see you next Monday. I think I am going to do a Tracie Long week next week and then go back to the 4DS.

Murphy

Hi girls! Just a quick hello! Have a great weekend, (Ronne, you better have the most fun!) Talk to you Mon. Mary

Quick fly by for me. I did 4ds Shoulder/Bi/Tri today, I think I'll do a run tomorrow.

My last few days of freedom are BUSY!

Murphy, if you are step challenged, then doing HIS is quite a project, did you video tape it for us? :)

Ronne, your weekend plans sound heavenly to me! Enjoy!
