40 & over checkin - week of 9/21

Cathlete
Hey girls! Getting us started for the week!

I did 4DS double cardio premix today.

Andrea, I'm so glad you got some sleep. I slept 9 hrs last night! I think I might soon be catching up on all the sleep I've lost these last few weeks. Your chinese man comment had me ROFL. :p

Hello to everyone else hope everyone has a good week and good health!

Optimistic!

Hi, everybody! I'm happy to report that I'm still standing!

I did Gym Style Back, Shoulders, Biceps today; also abs and stretch from Muscle Confusion, so I'm feeling good!

I worked out with my DH, who found this workout to be pretty challenging. Come to think of it, he finds ALL of Cathe's workouts to be challenging! :D

I can't believe it's actually fall (or is that tomorrow?) -- summer is officially over. But here in the South we can expect more hot days before the cold weather rolls in for good.

I hope that everybody else who has been sick is finally feeling better, and those who haven't been sick stay healthy!

Hi Lisa, Kathyrn and all who follow.

I've been getting outside and gardening these past couple of days, and I think that my "make me sleep body clock thingy" is kicking in, after all of the physical labor. i just hope I havn't spoken too soon and jinxed myself for tonite!

It seems only a few weeks ago everyone was posting about shovelling snow in the States and here you are already past summer!! Our summer starts in December and finishes March. Time is just flying past.

I see Cathes Blog update and shes expecting STS out before Xmas. I cynically wonder if shes done that deliberatly due to more and more people starting to cancel orders? Personally I think its taken far too long. But I'm one of the ones not buying it, and never really was. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it?

See you all later

Happy Monday everyone! I did HSC today....it's been ages since I've done that one. I'm tiring a bit on these circuit workouts....I think next week I'll go back to splits.

Andrea, I've wondered the same thing about the announcement. This is my first preorder with Cathe, so I didn't know what to expect. I'm glad your sleep body clock thingy is kicking in. I think mine did too....whew! I felt like I was catching up on all the sleep I missed this weekend.

Katherine, we've had the AC off here for about a month. I try to enjoy this time of year because soon enough the snow will be here. Not that I don't like snow, I just *heart* fall and spring so much and it seems those seasons are always the shortest.

Gotta run for now....hello to everyone else!

Hi all

Well, I took the weekend off exercise and got back to it today with the CST premix from 4DS and abs. Trying to keep the workouts short this week as it's going to be busy!

Lisa - love that 4DS double cardio premix. Did that last week. It just flies past. :D Glad to hear you've got a bit more sleep as well.

Kathryn - it must be really nice working out with your DH. Do you fight over the equipment or do you have enough to go round?! :p

Andrea - hope you got the sleep you were waiting for. On the STS thing, I'm glad I didn't preorder. I presume they didn't know it would take this long but I do think a year is a long time to keep people waiting without making that clear at the beginning.

Hello to all who follow!

Hi all! It is another beautiful day here! We have been blessed for a week! I did the Gauntlet today, I thought it was never going to end, I chose that instead of DM! Couldn't face it again! You all are doing 4DS, I keep forgetting I have that one, I should break it out more often. I don't have any of the high step circuits, are they worth investing in? Well, now that we all know that we will have STS for Christmas, I don't know if I want to spend more money. My DH was getting worried we were getting taken! I told him to be patient, I just didn't know how patient we were all going to have to be, I know it will definitly be worth the wait. Andrea, how nice that you have summer coming soon, I am definitly jealous! Here is the story on my name, I have NEVER been scuba diving, Scuba is a nickname from college, a play on my middle initial and my maiden name, everyone is always so creative here, so I dug it up from the past! Have a great Mon. Mary

Hi all

I did HSC Saturday, Tracie Long yesterday and rested today. I think I am going to do a leg rotation for the rest of the month if I can find one.

Lisa - As you can see, I did HSC the other day. I like it, but still do no do the high-knee jump thingy's. Those bands really get me on that dvd. I don't know why I feel it so much more on HSC than some others.

Regarding STS - I too did not think it would take this long. I expected September or October so December is a bit longer than I expected, but it is a big project and I don't know the in's and out's of the dvd-making process. When we get it, we will know if it was worth the cost and wait. I am looking forward to the program b/c when I had a trainer, this is the program we did and truly, in 3 months, you could bounce a quarter off my booty. No joking, seriously. I did what she told me to do and I ate okay, not completely clean, and in 3 months time my body was transformed.

Murph

Hi All

Wow about STS I just posted a lengthy vent about it over in the check in group I post at daily.

I'm one who ordered and paid in full back in Jan. and I knew about the wait but goodness sakes this is the last time I'll ever pay for a product at that cost again as a preorder ugh!

I'm not going to say anymore about it as it really gets my gourd only that I have been on the fence about canceling now. It better but worth all the hype or I'll be so mad at myself for letting them have my money preproduction

Just hearing what the program may be able to do for me is what is holding me to my order. Meh.

So anyhoo

I didn't work out but plan on tomorrow as today turned out to be very topsy turvy for us here looking for a decent bodyshop to repair my car.

I'm thinking of doing the very basic beginner dvds this entire week to see how my body reacts to it, if I feel its too too easy not breaking a sweat (which for me they are and I only do them when coming off the Flu ) then I'll jump back into my rotation and modify when I feel the need.

I still feel a slight achiness and nausea but I believe I can try to work through it and not go over board like I did last week.

Well I hope all are doing exceptionally well.

Dare to dream!

Murphy, you've got my hopes up! I'd like to be able to bounce a quarter off my thighs and not have just sit there, jiggling! I've got high hopes for STS. It will be my Christmas present to myself!

Ronne, I work out with DH on the weekend (he won't get up at 5:00 during the week for anything!). We have doubles of all dumbbells up to 15 lbs. But we rarely fight over the weights anyway, because I go heavier than he does! :D He thinks he's in shape, but every weekend Cathe proves otherwise! He marvels at how she just beats him up every time! Maybe if he did Cathe during the week (as I do), that wouldn't be the case!

Mary, are you finally feeling better? I, too, thought you were a scuba diver!

Vilma, I hope you recover completely. It sounds like it's lingering for you. I read the STS update and saw lots of gripes about how long it's taking. I ordered in January also -- thought I'd have it in time to get in shape for bathing suit season. I didn't realize it would be next bathing suit season!

Okay, I've got to climb Mt. Washmore (piles of laundry -- it never ends!). I'd love to stay and read the interesting posts ("Gwyneth's trainer" is pretty funny!), but my kids are going to be running around w/out clean clothes if I don't get to it someday!

Have a good one!

HI everyone,

I don't have much to report today as I did not get a chance to workout b/c I was washing the baby's bottles that my husband did not wash last night. If I did not, there would be nothing for the daycare; thanks honey (jerk). It did not take that long, but I was so annoyed I could not function. I finsihed climbing Mt. Washmore (as Kathryn says) - I folded last nights laundry and started more. How do such small people generate so much laundry?

Murph

Smile, Murphy!

Murphy,
My children change their clothes more often than the Royal Family! And they supplement with clean clothing (I find it still folded in with the dirty things, so they're not fooling me)!

Sorry about DH. :( Even if it's only a small thing, those small things add up to an entire day of tedious chores!

Hope you get your workout in tomorrow (or later today). That is the one thing that I refuse to sacrifice for the family!

--Kathryn

Hi Everyone....just stopping by. No workout for me since I went to work today (I don't know how you all do it getting up so early to workout before work).

I climbed Mt Washmore yesterday. My laundry has decreased (yea!) because of DS moving out for college (see, there is an end in sight for you all with young kids!).

I'm finding that now that I don't work full time and mostly do all the housework, my DH does nothing unless I ask him to. It's my fault really, when I quit working 2 yrs ago, I had to break him of the habit of helping out, but now that I work outside the house for 1 day a week, you'd think that that one day he could do the dishes from breakfast and his lunch mess (he works out of the house). Oh well, it's a small price for me to pay to not have to work at that horrible full time job I used to have.

I've rambled enough for now....time to check out the boards.....

Hi ladies.

I've been working out and lasted on my dieat for 3 (yep 3) whole days!! Yippeeee! :D God I'm a JOKE! 3 #@@%%$ days? WT? And now I'm down in the dumps because the clothes are still too tight. Right, thats it! Today will be a good good day.

Vilma - How goes the health? I don't like mentioning STS around these forums too much, too many guys get very passionate and tend to think people are bagging Cathe. But I have now found Jari, and Amy and hopefully CharLean. These DVD's are all heaps and heaps cheaper than anything Cathe produces. So, I am going to think with my hip pocket rather than my heart! And to be perfectly 100% honest, I've had no wonderful results using any of them. (I don't eat right and admit that) I'm enjoying Jari right now and I think this might be a good training method for me.

Lisa - I'm confused (easily done) I thought you were working? Or have I just totally missed that you are working part time?

Kathryn - Mt Washmore, I love that! My Mt.Wasmore is a volcano, boiling over daily! AND my two change clothes all day long, what frustrates me is the dirty clothes in the clean clothes basket. many a time I've been running late for work, pull out a pair of jeans from the clean clothes only to find them dirty? URGHHH!

Murph - You have a baby? How old? My husband never washed the babies bottles either. With the exception of when i worked afternoon shifts because then he had to:D

Mary I assumed you Scuba dived and thought I'd ask. And then I would've gone all "what about the sharks? Are you nuts?" atcha? :D

Hi everyone! Hope all is well, Today was GSL, I just wish my stupid band would break in half when I am doing this workout. That sounded a little angry, didn't it? Well, I hate that band in the floor work. Any way I am done complaining. Andrea, I am right there with you with the dirty eating, I just finished a payday candy bar as I am typing, everything in moderation right? I enjoy Jari also, mainly b/c she is pretty affordable, and it is mindless sometimes, (boy, am I in a mood tonight!) Murphy, husbands don't think like we do, they could be sitting in chaos, doesn't bother them, sometimes I think if it doesn't affect their life directly they don't think about it at all. HI to Kathryn, Vilma, LIsa and everyone else, I hear my children screaming, I suppose I should check it out. Mary

Good morning all. I did B&G today....I don't think I'll ever like one legged squats! Seems I'm always begging for the floor work to start in this one and once it does I thing to myself "why did I want to do the floor work, did I think it'd get any easier". I never learn.

Andrea, sorry to confuse you with my rambling. I used to work full time for 24 yrs (the last 3 were unbearable), I took a leave of absence which resulted in me being selected for a layoff. I didn't work for 2 yrs (and enjoyed it). I just happened into this part time job I have now which is good to "keep me in the job market" if I should ever need to really work again. Given the stock market, I hope our funds recover so that I won't HAVE to work, ugh. These college costs are adding up and I have another one going in 2 yrs! Our funds need to make up some big losses, eek.

Mary, I haven't been eating as good lately either. Since I hit my goal weight and I'm happy with where I am, I've been incorporating some sweets...trying NOT to go overboard! It's a balancing act. And to make matters worse I became a tastefully simple consultant and they have some great foods! I got into this to get some good spices and other food (desserts) at a good discount.

Kathryn, I have the problem with the kids of knowing what clothes needed washed and what didn't. I got fed up and told them if they couldn't use the dirty clothes hamper for dirty clothes and put the clean clothes away then I wouldn't do their laundry and they could do it themselves. So, for now it's working --- that is until I have to threaten them again. KIDS!?!?

I better run, got a zillion things to do. Have a great day all!

Hi everyone, I tried to do BM2, could not get into it, so I did 15 min of that, then went to basic step, I didn't have to think! Lisa, I love tastefully simple, I always make the wild rice soup, I add chicken, carrots and potatos with the beer bread, such a great meal! Hope everyone else is well, the kids will be jumping off the bus in moments and then it doesn't stop until bed! Have a good night. Mary

Day off for me

Just checking in. Today is my day off; tomorrow is Imax 2 -- something to get up early for!

Mary, I hear my kids screaming and I run the other way! :D As I often tell them, I don't want to referee nonsense! Mine are 8 and 10, though, so if it's something really urgent, they'll let me know. Usually it isn't.

Well, I've got to hit the sack if I'm going to roll out at 5:00 a.m. Goodnight to all!

--Kathryn

(I've really got to get a better signature!)

Hi all

Well, I've been having a good workout week so far. Been doing short weight combos off 4DS, had one fantastic yoga session and today I did a premix from Amy's KBX. It's taken a loooooong time to get the choreography on that one but I think I finally know what I'm doing!

Fortunately, I don't have to tackle Mt Washmore too often! I just have one 7 yr old daughter so I do her washing with mine once a week. DH sorts himself out (believe me, I wouldn't even loan my DH out - he does all the cooking and the meal planning as well! I know I am one lucky woman!).

Kathryn - Hope you enjoy Imax 2. I always convince myself that it's not that hard and then about halfway through, I think 'what was I on?!'. Love the fact that you lift heavier than your DH!

Mary - love your comment about the stupid band in GSL. With me it's the ball, God I hate rollouts!

Lisa - I don't do B&G much as I have a real love/hate relationship with it! Like you, I'm always glad when the standing work is over!

Hello to everyone else checking in!

Hi all! I did Step Blast today and had a Blast, even though I have a headache from Aunt Flo.

Mary, I'm falling in love with tastefully simple! They have a pine nut basil spice this fall, I added olive oil, water, white beans from a can, and tomatoes. YUM and healthy! We will have to exchange recipes!

Ronne, I want your DH! Mine is pathetic at cooking. Once, early in our marriage, I had my tonsils out (I was young), and soooooo wanted some chicken boullion to settle my stomach. The guy gave me piss warm water that the boullion didn't dissolve in. I'm surprised after the expletives I used that he stayed married to me. Then there was the craving for McDonald's french fries (NO SALT as I just had my tonsils out). EEEEEKKKK, they had salt and I had severe throat pain! He couldn't even order McDonalds right!

Kathryn, love that IMAX2 workout, hope you had fun doing it!

Time to mow the lawn....oh joy!

HI everyone! I can't believe the beautiful weather we are having here, During the day 70's and at night 50's, perfect for sleeping! Today will be GSBSB, love those, except for the stupid band! My DH cooks sometime, if it is something he loves, like steak chili, buffalo chicken dip and grilling, otherwise it is all mine! Ronne, I don't like the ball either! My legs shake during that too! I've never tried Amy's cardio, it looks kind of complicated, I need simple. Kathryn, I would LOVE to run the other way when I hear screaming, I have 2 10 yr. olds and a 6 yr old, usually the twins are torturing the little one. He is speech delay with some (God knows) special needs. He is good at getting his point across, but VERY loud, so he doesn't get ignored! Hope you all have a great day, I have cross country and girl scouts tonight, I should have a great nite! Mary
