40 & over checkin - week of 9/14

Good morning!

I hope that everyone is feeling better! I got downstairs early this morning so I would have time to do Cardio Fusion. I've planned my workouts for the rest of the month -- something I never do. I'll see how it goes.

Bad news, however. Now that my DD has recovered from her cold (and I have recovered from her cold and my sinus infection), my DS is home sick with a cold! I feel like they're tag-teaming me with their germs! I'm going to think healthy, cheerful thoughts and pray that I don't catch anything else for the rest of the year. Otherwise, my workout plan is going to be derailed -- again!

However, it could always be worse. I have to remind myself that these illnesses are an inconvenience, not a tragedy.

Have a happy, healthy day to all of my 40-plus fitness friends!

Hi ladies! I got in IMAX 2 today.....fun, fun, fun...I even managed to keep my balance on most of the genie hops

I did almost do this after a couple of the blasts

Ronne, I don't have any of Amy Bentos workouts. I almost bought some with the great sale on at advanced workouts, but I decided instead to invest in another kettlebell and dvd (Newport).

Andrea, I slept, I slept! Like a baby, but I did wake up early for no reason at all, maybe I had enough sleep, my eyes just popped open ready to greet the day.

I really hope you get some much needed sleep! I will find out one day what kind of supplement it is that my boss has for sleeping. I figure it might not be until I get my free nutritional plan from her which is a few weeks away.

Kathryn, I can't remember how old your kids are but when they are young, they bring everything home with them from school. Just remember, this too shall pass and their immune systems will be better for it in the long run.

Everyone have a great day and hi to all of those who follow.

Hi girls! (We are all still girls at heart, right?) Hope everyone is having a good day. I just finished mowing the lawn, it took us quite a few days to pick up all the branches and sticks that the wind blew around. The kids will be home and then the fun begins! Homework and being the taxi driver. I need to get in LIC sometime before dinner! LIsa, I love I-max 2, Cathe seems so happy and having fun in that one. Kathryn, I hope that you don't catch anything this time around! Andrea, you need to get some sleep! and when you do send some this way! Ronne, you are right about the Pyramid w/o's, at least I don't have to concentrate too jmuch with those, but they are quite redundant! Hi to you Rhondalyn! Hello to everyone else too! Mary

Hi All

quickie fly by post

I am having a horrendous week

I thought I was getting over my cold but it proved me wrong as my workouts have not been up to par plus I still have sick kids here at home and was at the doctor's today for my older dd.

Just wanted to say Hi I'm still around but not much time to be online it seems lately

Take care everyone!

Good morning!

This morning I did Gym Style Chest & Triceps. I've never done it before, but have had it for years! I was running a fever yesterday, but felt better this morning. We'll see.

Lisa, my kids are 8 and 10. (I had them late! I'm an old mom!) So I expect I have many more years of dodging viruses. In the meantime, I'm washing and using hand sanitizer constantly!

Vilma, I'm sorry to hear that you've not yet recovered. I found that I had to give up working out altogether until I felt on the mend. I used to try working out throughout illnesses, but it usually made my recovery period much longer. You children are older, aren't they? I guess the germs never stop coming!

Mary, are you feeling better? I love Imax 2 a lot. I like the music, it's mercifully short (anything under 60 minutes is short to me!) and I feel like I've really accomplished something when I've finished. I have Imax 3 on the schedule for next week (if I stay healthy), and I think that's a lot tougher to get through.

Rhondalyn, I hope you are healthy again and back to your regular routine!

I hope everybody has a great weekend. The weather is supposed to be nice here so I hope to get out and enjoy it (fingers crossed)!

Hello everybody

Today I did GSL (skipped a couple of the floor bits, I can't stand the hamstring roll-ins on the ball. I've decided that exercise is just not for me!).

I also realised that I've worked out 7 days in a row - completely unintentionally - so I'm taking this weekend off.

Kathryn - how did you find C&T? It's one of my favourites, I'm using it in a rotation at the moment.

Lisa- so you're one of the kettlebell queens, then? I'm keeping away from those - the rule is NO MORE EQUIPMENT for me!

Vilma - sorry to hear you're still under the weather. I agree with Kathryn, if I try to work out too soon before I'm better I find I stay ill longer. It's hard to keep away, though!

Mary - hope you enjoyed LIC. It's one of my favourites (apart from the push-up bit!)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi everyone,

I'm still not feeling great and have decided to take it easy until I do feel better. It's been a week now so it shouldn't last much longer.:( Anyway, I'm thinking I might just need to rest this old body. It's not like I really get to rest because we're hosting DH's family reunion on Sunday and I have to prepare for that. I'll be very honest here and say that the only thing I'm looking forward to is it being over. ;)

Sometimes I feel like I need to make apologies for missing w/os.

I don't feel bad about it so I guess I shouldn't feel bad about telling you. ;) I do know that in the long run it won't make a difference if I take a week off or not and also know that one should do this from time to time. :)

I've decided that exercise is just not for me!

I feel this way a lot too. Especially when it comes to floor work. Definitely not my favorite. ;)

Hi Kathryn, hopefully, it won't be long. :D

Vilma,

I totally understand. Take care of yourself.

Hi Mary, have fun!

Lisa, I'm happy you were able to sleep. I might have to pull IMax 2 out next week. :D

Andrea, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm thinking you don't like sashays?

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I might pop in just to say hi! :D

Well I guess I should do as you all do and try not to push myself working out as it's just not working for me - as my cold or whatever crud I have is back full blown again. I can't even mange a basic cardio or strength workout and it makes me so angry with myself.

I was planning on doing a power walk with my weighted vest on but after reading about you guys just resting up I will do the same until my energy is back and I'm not fighting whatever sick germ I'm dealing with here.

I hope you all get to feeling better soon as being sick sucks the big one. :(

My kids are 18, 16 & 10. I guess I was a young mom when I started having them at age 23 and YES I still deal with them bringing home sick germs when school starts up again. Its always something isn't it?

Big Hugs to you all!

Vilma, I was 23 when I had my first too. :D

Okay, I need to get something done and I can't if I don't get off this computer.

Hi girls,

I'm an old mum too. My girls are 9 and 3 (she's 4 in November, although she tells me shes going to be 5? 5 is her fav number, everythings 5)

Vilma- I was never one to get "sick". Had the ocassional cold/flu but nothing much. After my first daughter was born, I had to send her to day care. I had gastro (serious bouts of it) 7 times in the first 12 months she was at day care!!!! It was awful! You have my sympathies.

To all the sickies here, hope you get better soon. take rests and look after yourselves because if you rush back into working out you will take longer to recover. (this I know from experience)

Happy Friday! I did my Walmart food run today to stock up. So I haven't had a chance to post yet. I did Jari Love R&C. It's been ages since I've done that one....love that UB work....I do not know how she uses that heavy of a weight on overhead presses!

Kathryn, you still have a few years of kids bringing home viruses to deal with...it does get better, I promise! I'm one of the young moms. I had my first at 25 because DH wanted them sooner rather than later since he is 8 yrs older. All in all, I'm happy that we did, it all worked out in the end.

Ronne, I wouldn't call myself a Kbell queen....I am building a collection though! The great thing that Kbells have brought is that DH is finally exercising! He's lost like 15 lbs --- darn men do it so easily---it's no fair! I work like 10 times as hard as he does to lose 15 lbs!

Vilma, I hope you and your crew are on the mend soon! Hang in there and REST! Your body needs it!

Rhondalyn, good luck with the reunion! It's always such a build up of work and then it's all over and then begins the clean up. I hope you can get some rest so we can workout together since I'm coming over next week. :p

Andrea, how's the sleeping going? I had another good night last night. I think I got myself totally off a sleeping schedule with all I was going through with FIL and the new job, and then taking the sleeping pills on top didn't help. I'm hoping the sleeping stays on track! I was so tired yesterday I fell asleep on the couch at 8:00 pm and my DS was yelling at me to wake up and I didn't even hear him. Him and DH got a good laugh at my expense, I simply went to bed.

Have a great weekend everyone and stay well (or get well in some of yall's cases).

Lisa good for you.

I'm taking it easy as my body still bothers me.

Things are a bit more hectic here esp since my oldest DD hit a mailbox and ended up in a ditch coming home from work last night. My car needs to go to a body shop now. Ahhh so is life eh?

Vilma, I hope that your daughter is ok? At least it is just the car, those can always be fixed or replaced. Hi to everyone else too! Yesterday was B&G, always a favorite! Today GSCT with some cardio. It is a beautiful day here. My DS ran in a cross country meet today, 43rd out of 178. I was so proud! Just some yard and house work on tap today, Hope you all have a great weekend. Mary

Vilma, Sorry to hear about your DD accident, but at least she is ok....cars can be fixed. I swear these new drivers need at least one accident to realize that they have a powerful machine they need to control. My DS has his court date for his accident the end of the month. No damage to our car and haven't heard of any claim on the other person's car (didn't look like damage to my DH). I sure hope he's learned that he isn't invincible!

Mary, Great job on your DS's run. You should be proud!

My butt is dragging today, I'm so sleepy but I'm resisting laying down for a nap in fear that I won't sleep tonight...ack-don't want that to happen!

Hi everyone!

I'm having a really great weekend (Just thought I'd share that piece of important news with you all!;):D)

Todays workout will be cardio, possible Imax3.

Lisa - I slept very well last night and pill free! So thats a plus! I pop the pill to "just get some sleep"

Vilma - Have you run over a chinese man? No offence but you are having some rotten luck!

Mary - Are you a diver? Whats the reason behind the "scuba girl"?

Rhondalyn - How did you guess? I didn't think I made a point of the sashays, did I???:D They are one of those moves that don't gel with me. Its a bit like the 4DS LIS. That whole workout is a leave this blank, workout to me! Can't do it.

Hi Kathyrn, hope you feeling better. O.K. I'm off to get back into the garden. Bye ladies.
