40 & over checkin - week of 10/19

Hi everyone! Well, I feel a bit less grumpy today, not totally myself yet. I had lots of night sweats still last night. My DH said the temp was fine for him with the same # of covers that I had, and here I was waking up soaked with sweat and normally I always need 1 more blanket than him. Oh, this month has been awful!

No official news on the corporate red tape. The mgr that wants him says he expects to hear something today. This mgr was soooo funny, he said to my DH " I need you more than you need me. " This guy is going to be a cool guy to work for. Meanwhile, while my DH waits he started working on his recertification process for his company. Talk about dedication.....first you are laid off, then you have to go network and find your own job within the company with no mgmt help, finally find one, it takes a week to get the approvals, meanwhile, you still are tagged for a lay off but do the work that gets you recertified for your company.

Katherine, I think it's today you are to hear about your father. I hope it is good news, but just know, no matter what you can get through this!

Hope everyone has good workouts and hopefully I'll be back to say....."my DH got the job approval and isn't laid off!"

Good news! We finally have resolution to DH's situation! He will be staying with his company and working for a very cool mgr on an account in Chicago. That means he will have to travel (about 25%) to Chicago from Denver. This offer came up last Friday and FINALLY all the corporate approvals have happened and it's all approved! Gotta love the corporate red tape.

The previous contractor offer got pulled so this position was really the ONLY thing he found so I figure this is the way it was meant to happen.

We are breathing a big sigh of relief now!

Lisa, good for you!

Lisa, I'm so glad that you have a solution! You'll be able to relax and enjoy your weekend now! It does sound as if it was "meant to be."

My mom called. She says that my father's cancer is, "incurable but treatable." I don't know exactly what that means (time to start doing some research), but apparently the treatment is not chemo or radiation, so that is good news. She said that it involves receiving an IV drug twice a year -- something used specifically for this kind of cancer. I think it's supposed to shrink the tumor but it won't make it disappear. She also said that there are few to no side effects with this medicine (except the obvious unpleasantness of the needles -- ugh!), so that is also good news.

I still don't love the word "incurable," but I think the fact that it seems manageable means he could go on for years and have a good quality of life. This reminds me to be grateful for all of the good things in my life, even if I'm crabby, PMS-y, struggling with kids, etc.

This morning I did MIS for the first time ever. It was a good basic workout, but the droning music nearly put me to sleep. It's got a very hypnotic beat, and I was pretty tired! Oh well, I got through it without dozing off. Tomorrow I will probably do either KPC or Cardio Kicks with DH. That's always interesting!

Have a great weekend, everybody! :D
