30 DAY SHRED,HER PANTS ARE TIGHTER AND WANTED YOUR THOUGHTS

Cathlete
After 2 weeks of 30 day shred (all L1) Shes said shes definitely seen a huge gain in muscle. Her shoulders, legs and butt are all getting rock hard already - that us, underneath all the fat... She haven't seen ANY reduction in inches since starting. As a matter of fact, all that muscle is making her bulge out, and her clothes are getting tighter! Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?
Should she stick it out with Jillian or try something else? The only things she tried before are pure cardio pretty much, like elliptical at the gym (some machines) or Leslie Sansone

MY GUESS IS SHES...........

CONSUMING TOO MANY CALORIES THEN SHES BURNING? 2 WEEKS SHOULDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE RIGHT? ALSO WATER WEIGHT? A GIRL HAD ASK ME AND WANTED MY ADVICE. WAS WONDERING WHAT YOU THOUGHT?

Yeup, . . . people who have never excersized a day in their life go on a program and then tend to overcompensate their eating habits based on how long they excersize. Unless she's doing some hard core HIT running and weightlifting for over an hour she won't be burning off a whole lot of calories. In basic terms to lose weight you have to have a calorie defficet, . . .burn more than you eat.

I totally agree to connie

I was thinking also it takes longer time to build muscle then 2 weeks!!!

Some of it could also be temporary fluid retention. If she's not used to working with weights, her muscles could be retaining fluids as a sort of protection. After she adapts to the work, the excess fluid should go away. (This can also happen when one is used to working with weights, but increases the intensity of the program they are doing).

I agree w/ Kathryn on the temporary fluid retention... I always retain fluid esp. in my lower half when I do a hard leg workout.. 1-2 lbs and it lasts for about 2 days. It does go away and as the body acclimates to the training it won't be always be like that.

Agree with Kathryn, but to see results doing those workouts, Jillian has people on 1200-1400 calories a day - and that ain't easy!!!
