Whew, finally found a round-tuit and a little time to post sumpin’ to me Cheetah buds…No Road Trip for me as I think I’ve stretched the limits plenty with Maui and Chicago.
Lorie – I hope you’re feeling better. You just HAVE to sign up for Chicago! c’mon, whaddaya waitin’ for? lol.
Cathy – What a relief to get that grading out of the way, huh? Way to go recruiting another Chicago runner. We really have to work on Wendy now…lol….cuz Shelly says she’ll do Chicago if Wendy wants to switch. Oh, yeah, if you’re not real crazy about Galloway’s plans, take a peek at halhigdon.com and check out some of his schedules. Also keep in mind you can tweak any of the plans to suit your schedule – I do. I have to because my running buddy is an ER Nurse and gets every other Saturday off which means we have to play around with the long run schedule. Hope you get the ITB issue under control before the long runs start up cuz I know first hand it ain’t no picnic. Don’t you just hate my slang? lol. Makes ya wanna get out the red pen, huh…lol.
Christine! - I’m echoing Cathy’s sentiments about your last post of Kimo! Awe, I’m so happy she’s better. I absolutely cannot stand to hear sad animal stories. Let’s hope your home cookin’ will help keep Miss Kimo feeling better too. As for Jimmie? My dear, I think you created that monster - spoiled dogs – I know all about it, lol!
Judy – Welcome back! I love to watch the deer that wander our property often. I actually have some cool pics of a few of them drinking from the pond. Oh, and so cool about your DH and the work-outs.
Wendy lou – Welcome back and sounds like ya’ll had a great time in Florida. YES, you can run a full marathon – trust me! You’re in great physical shape – perfect for beginning a training program and 26 isn’t much more than 18. You just have to believe you can do it! And besides, Shelly says she’ll go to Chicago if you want…yeeessuh! That even leaves you open for plan B of the marathon where you could hook up to Shelly with a baby leash the last 6 or so miles if needed. It’s sort of like if we convince you to join us we’ll get 2 cheetahs for the enabling of 1!…lol. Ok, there’s my enabling speech of the day…lol.
Carole – I love the pyramids! I can’t wait to get the new stuff. I decided that before the STS comes out, I’m going to go through my DVD’s (including Cathe) and sell the ones I’m not using on Ebay. There is no sense in keeping them if I don’t use them and I hardly use the step anymore as I prefer running and spinning for cardio. Anyhoo, selling the unused DVD’s should give the Posh some extra shopping cash for Chicago…lol.
Jackie – I hope you make it to Chicago! C’mon! you just HAVE to book it! lol..Good Luck with your 5K this weekend. I’m doing one with a group from work on Sunday. We won’t be looking for PR’s though as some of the group are newbie runners and we plan on staying together somewhat to encourage the others to finish. It is a 5K to benefit a scholarship fund set up in memorial of a fallen Rocklin police officer, Matt Redding, who was on the scene of an accident a few years ago and was killed by a stupid drunk driver blazing past the scene. Always fun to run for a good cause.
Dallas – Stop worrying and telling yourself “IF” it doesn’t go well. You’re another cheetah in fine, fabulous, fit shape that can easily build to the marathon – you just have to BELIEVE you can do it! You’re going to do the full marathon! I do agree that you’ll benefit from outdoor running – at least the long run. If you signed with TNT don’t you have a group that trains together like one week day evening and one weekend morning? When I ran my marathons with TNT, I was only able to drive down and run for the weekend long run with the group and then did the other runs on my own or with a friend throughout the week. You should have a team running coach and you’ll get a schedule – at least we did – that has 3 levels to choose mileage/distance from: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. I usually stayed with the intermediate. Also, you should be having a Mentor assigned to you that will give you info on the “kick-off” and up coming workshops TNT sponsors for the team members. Workshops like shoe-clinic that tells the importance of properly fitted shoes, injury prevention and good nutrition, etc. Also, there will be fund raising workshops as well. I’m starting to figure out my Chicago training schedule using advice/tips from my former TNT running coach and a blend of TNT/Hal Higdon running schedules. I do know it is important to include REST days, lots of stretching and definitely include core work. Proper nutrition and hydration is a must as well. Anyway, I just thought I’d write this small essay for you since I believe you asked me a few days ago about my training/coach experience with TNT and I know Cathy following me with the red pen..lol. Oh, and PS, don’t listen to the opinion of your neighbors about how many 5 or 10 Ks you’ve done because that is irrelevant. I’ve seen so many never-run-before people train with TNT and cross the dang finish line – You’re gonna do great, Dallas! GO TEAM! …LOL
Shelly – Awe, sorry you had to have the gloom and doom with the realtor. Good thing you can still get a good price though. And WOW I hope we can convince Wendy to come to Chicago because that would get us Cheetahs an easy win with you and that would be 2 Cheetahs for the price of 1 enabling! LOL….all my wishful thinking….
Wendi – WOW, you’re really tearing up the pavement out there! Where do you see the infomercials for P90X or whatever it is? I’m not interested in buying; I just want to see what everyone talks about. I think your plan of crashing the GTG is a good one for you cheetahs that are closer to NJ. Hope you girls can come up with something.
Linda – OH I hope you get to go to Chicago! Tell DH you have to decide soon because things are booking up…lol. Also, if you’ve run 2 half marathons, then you CAN do a full. Like I’ve been preaching all over the post tonight – you’re in great shape and will have no problems doing the marathon! So c’mon! whaddaya waiting for? book today! LOL…
Ok, I’m sure ya’ll have had enough of my Chicago enabling antics so I better log out of here and get to bed as it is now close to 1 am PST – but I don’t have to get up until 7:30 am PST….sweet.. I’ll get in 6.5 hours of shut-eye…..I guess I’ll post this for the Wednesday Cheetahs since after all it technically IS Wednesday! LOL
