2015 New Year's resolutions

RapidBreath

Cathlete
I am looking forward to a very fit, active, and fun new year. I am personally making the resolution to work out for at least 30 minutes five days a week. And include at least one whole body strength training workout every week. I'm also making sure that I layer in enough fruits and vegetables.

What kind of New Year's resolutions are you girls thinking about? I'm leaning towards a 5K in April. I want to give myself enough time to work up to a good time not just finishing.

I want to try to learn how to do something new this year....but, I can't think of what to do.

I've decided to create a mood board this year, instead of making resolutions. I hope to depict what I'd like my life to be. There will be happy photos of friends and family. Names of people I should spend more time with. There will be images of places I'd like to go, and tickets for things to do. I'll include reminders of my favourite pastimes - snaps I've taken of my garden looking its prettiest (yes, I will get on top of those borders...), my dogs, my other animals. Anything that sums up a happy me.

Of course, there will be a nod towards health and fitness - inspirational women (a photo of Annie Thorisdottir's abs?). Delicious looking healthy food. Probably even a Cathe quote!

Happy, fit, healthy, wise New Year wishes to all you wonderful Catheletes - and of course to Cathe herself. xxxx

I love this idea, Justine. So cool.
I hope everyone's wishes/dreams/resolutions come true in 2015!
There are so many amazing and strong women on here. We should all be proud of what we've accomplished and where we're heading.
Hugs and high fives all around,
Roz

Last year, my resolution was to go up and down at least one flight of stairs at work every time I got up to go to the bathroom. Well, that didn't last long so I'm thinking maybe I need to try that again or at least to resolve to move around more during the day at work. Sitting for so long at times drives me crazy and I know it's not good for me.

Clare, no, I haven't. Do they use the quote? Good old Dylan Thomas....

Yes, all the way through, but it also becomes something of a metaphor for survival throughout the entire film. Powerful stuff. It's a great film, a big film, see it on a big screen if you do, no teeny tiny TV screen. If you like Christopher Nolan (Inception, Memento), you'll like this one too.

My 2015 resolutions are to gain my strength and flexibility back after having had a partial hip replacement in Nov. Doing good so far. Until then I can only do Cathe's upper body workouts. Need to stick with walking and/or biking for a while. No impact for possibly up to 6 months.

Another one is, I found out I have kidney stones. One created problems during the holidays but thankfully it passed. Another resolution is to get my health back on track. Between hip surgery and kidney stones, I haven't felt 100%. I want to get back to that healthy feeling.

My 3rd resolution is once I have my follow up with my doc in Feb on my hip, to promote my personal training business more to get some clients and to hold a "Barnyard Bootcamp" either in my yard or the park next door to us. Not sure if I want to promote it as giving back to the local fire dept./police depts or have it be more of a fundraiser for cancer and Alzheimer's (two things that hit close to home in my family).

Justine - I love the idea of the mood board. That is an excellent idea. I have read about someone doing that and think it's a great idea.

Here's to a happy and healthy 2015 to all!

Love the "mood board" idea Justine! So creative and clever. The visual provides excellent inspiration and makes the concept much more of a reality. I may have to do something similar.

I also agree with simplification and ridding ourselves of unnecessary and unfulfilling items. Feng shui..... "clean the clutter out of your life." My home is clutter-free, but over time, I come upon items that I no longer use and that can be donated to others in need. I usually give away anything that no longer serves me. I have to admit that I'm too lazy to wait for and run a garage sale. ;) I try to stay on top of my "weeding out," because clutter just makes me crazy. (I guess you could call me OCD, lol.)

I don't normally make resolutions, but this year, I intend to incorporate more yoga into my life, I have a goal to complete at least one beading project per month, and I intend to hone my skills on a new hobby that I'd undertaken last year.

Happy New Year, Cathletes!

Not so much a New Years resolution, because I usually start my New Years, before the holidays get started in November. December usually turns into a pretty good fitness month then, because I've already established that new habit. This year (Nov. 2014) I went back to the Tracy Anderson Meta series and got started, then continued with Jillian Michaels Bodyshred...(hard) and challenging with exercises I don't do a lot.

If I'm not the burpee queen by the end of this program, I might just have to do it again! This year I would like to carry over my early start practice to, spring cleaning, and fall yard work. Things I've got a late start on or not done at all lately.

I would also like to healthy-up more meals I make in the crockpot.
