2 Questions?

First thing, I was thinking:
Over christmas I lost 5 lbs but I wasn't working out with weights as much.I could feel a difference in my thighs and and my wasit.I could only get cardio in b/c I was so busy could it be that I lost muscle that fast and why would I lose it around my waist? Or maybe I was just eating less. When I resumed normal life, the 5 lbs came back.
Second:
I have lost a bit if difintion in my arms. And over the last 2 years I have been running alot more.Could it be that, when we do step, our arms are moving constintly, but when we run our arms are stuck at our sides.Do you think that would have anything to do with my arms looking bigger and less muscular?
Just to thoughts would like to get some input.
Lori:)

If you put on a few pounds, perhaps that is why you are seeing less definition?

I think that we could better assist you if you fill us in a bit more about how often you lift weights and what types of weight workouts you do. that way, we can suggest based on your existing program!

Hi Lori,

Well congrats on losing weight around x-mas, your one of the few who actually accomplished this. As for losing the pounds, sometimes when you lose muscle definition you lose some weight, as muscle becomes less dense. Well not excatly but it's the best word I can think of to describe it. A lot of my clients that have to be exactly X weight, and then find out that working out, they built muscle and that muscle of course adds pounds but they realize that with the muscle they'll never reach X weight. So they go on a diet, that takes into consideration all the calories they were burning when they exercised and then they lower it even more, and then sit down. No more exercise for them, they are actually willing to trade a very well defined waist, arms and legs. For not so toned, arms, legs and waist but they reached their *right* weight. So something like this could have happen to you, without you really causing it. Or you could have been under stress at x-mas and was burning more calories or were really trying to watch the diet and not eat so much. Many many posiblities, and your the only one who has an idea, which you did, if any.

As for losing the definition after your resumed working out, if I got that correctly. That is a bit strange, have you been working on your arms or have you cut back? Also where did 5 pounds come back to? It doesn't always come back to the same spot. As for running, it depends on how much your are running compared to lifiting weights, now and then before with the definition as to keep definition you have got to have the same intenity on the muscle, at least once a week.

Also cardio is very very good for the abs, so you could have simply lost a few inches from doing so much cardio, during x-mas. So really got a mixture here, if, maybe and sort of, as there are quite a few pieces missing so it's hard to tell even what direction the answer may lie in. If we new more, it would be a lot easier to answer your questions, so here is a few to get your started and I'm sure there is a good answer just around the corner. What were you doing before the x-mas rush and what are you doing now for exercise? You said you've increased you running how much, and what have you either added or taken out other excerise routines because of it? Or simply show a basic schedule before x-mas of exercise, and then one your doing now, if you remember.

Good luck I'm sure you'll find the answer.

Thanks for answering my questions.I think it may be one of those things that I may never know the answer to. I use to watch everything that went into my mouth and I think I needed to go back to that.I can remember being on this site years ago and people were whining about how they couldn't lose the weight and so on, and I use to think, all you have to do is exercise and eat healthy, your bound to lose the weight. My eating went down hill b/c I was being to strict on myself and thought I needed a break. Now I am one of those people who are whining and I know all I have to do is eat healthy.
I make myself sound like a junk food junkie. But I am not.I pick during the day and I think that is where the extra weight is comming from.My meals are healthy and are low-fat meals. But the picking is usually sweets and I keep thinking, I will buen it off.And I will b/c I am staying at this weight (which is horribly bad) by doing this. But if I exercised and didn't eat the sweets, then I would get to my goal weight.
I lost about 5 lbs before christmas and managed to keep it off for a month.AND THIS IS WEIRD! We had friends over one night for dinner and do you know that the next morning I got up, the scale was up and it never went back down. How weird is that? Its like I gained the weight over night. And when I lost the weight, I lost 2 lbs gradually, then one morning I got up and I was 3 lbs lighter then that, and I stayed at that weight for a while.
I have started journalling my food intake again. That usually keeps me in check with reality.
I think my pants were loser in the legs b/c of the lack of weight training. But around the weait b/c of my diet.
Before this, I was never on a rotation so I was just doing whatever I felt like doing.I think I have cut back on my weight trainging in general and the 5-8 lbs I have over my muscles is not helping.
I am sorry for my time of whining.I just want something and I don't even know if I have the effort to put into it.Sad isn't it?
