How do you know the difference between arthritus and carpal tunnel?

How can an advanced exerciser get out of breath quicker than a person who does NO exercise whatsoever and is a 'light' smoker??????
When my husband and I are pushing our 2 children up a steep hill, I'm huffing and puffing, but he's not even breathing heavy. It's depressing for me as I put forth tons of effort toward exercise and he rebels against it.

I'm not sure about arthritis, but carpal tunnel is often accompanied by numbness or tingling.

As for the "out-of-breath" situation: it's gender and size, I presume. He is no doubt bigger than you are, so has more lung capacity to begin with. Also, his legs are probably longer, so he has to put in less effort to walk the same distance (just as if you were to walk with a 10 year old).

carpel tunnel involves pain, numbness, tingling at the wrist and hand and usually a few fingers. alot of times symptoms are worse at night ..wakes you up...do you have an occupation that requires repetative movements. you could try picking up a wrist splint at the drug store and wearing this may greatly lessen pain if it is carpel tunnel. to be formally diagnosed requires an emg-nerve conduction study. you can try tapping or flicking the inside of your wrist and see if that causes some pain and tingling sensations.....as far as the other question...are you short of breath while exercising..are you pushing both kids in a tandom stroller...are you very overweight and is your husband quite thin....hard to answer that question!! hope this was helpful.

I had carpal Tunnel before. It was very painful after doing things like painting. It hurt from my fingers clear to my elbow. Usually it would feel numb and kind of like my fingers were asleep. It was hard to hold a phone for any length of time. Night time is always worse. I had the tests done and surgury. No problems any more.
