1RM timing -- price of steel - help

Ok my head is swirling and I'm hoping someone can help.

I know there is no way to judge when STS will be in our hot little hands. In the meantime, we will continue to workout and try to increase strength, etc. So I am assuming it's not wise to assess our 1RM until we actually get closer to the release date - right?

In the meantime, chatting with John from Altus last week at the RT, as well as my local health and fitness equipment dealer, reveals that they are ALL on the same page. The price of steel is going up drastically. My local dealer says that dumbells were 49 cents a pound early this year and they now come in at $1.29 -- not at all inconsistent with Altus indications.

So are we better off assessing that 1RM NOW and figuring it all out to buy now and get the lowest price per pound on things we may need? Or wait till we get closer to see how things may get tweaked up? I'd appreciate ANY thoughts. TIA

A 1RM test is just an approximation, not an exact value. So, yes start taking your 1RM test now. This will help you not only when STS is ready, but will also help you with any weight training workouts or DVDs you’re doing now. You can always make adjustments to your results as is needed.
