Good Morning all.

Kathy, I am so glad that you are feeling better. Feeling sick stinks and feeling nauseas is THE WORST!x(

I have LowMax on tap for today. I am going to do a homemade circuit using the step only premix that I created last week but never did because of the pains in my neck/shoulder. Yesterday (on my rest day) I decided to do some ab work since I neglected them last week so I did HSC abs (I love that ab work for some reason!) and then I did the stretch w/o from SS. Went to bed right afterwards. It was nice.

I have another realtor coming to look at the house today at 1pm to give us a market eval. since we are looking to sell soon. Gotta get the work out done, get showered and get the house in decent shape so I'll be busy this morning!

Joey was quite a handful yesterday. I went out with my mom for the afternoon to do some shopping and he was acting sooo out of character. The only word I can use to describe him yesterday is BRAT! LOL He was SCREAMING cause he wasn't getting his way! I thought they called it terrible TWOS!?!? He's only ONE! AAAAHHHHH! :p Oooooh, and I bought some flowers (petunias and something else that I can't remember the name of.LOL) that I am going to transfer into pots that I bought and put them in my front yard. I want to do that too all before 1pm! EEEK! LOL

12-Week Check-in

Good morning! I kept up with my workouts over the weekend but dropped the ball with my check-ins! My official Saturday morning workout was Timesaver 5. I love the kick-butt lunges. This workout is a real gem in my opinion. The Timesaver 4 shoulder work is also some of Cathe’s most challenging for me, so I really love Timesaver 4 too with the cardio from Kick, Punch, & Crunch. I like all the Timesaver workouts, but those are the outstanding ones in my opinion. Oh, I am down another pound. The Timesaver workouts are good for a pound a week. Not bad for 45-minute workouts.

I found a way to redeem the Still Jumpin’ video. The music is great for freestyle rebounding. I played the video and danced on my rebounder Saturday morning. Fun, fun, fun. I love Christi’s music.

I decided to try another Christi Taylor workout. I ordered Cardio Collectibles and did it for the first time Saturday afternoon. The step workout is fun but not very intense. I prefer Cathe’s step workouts and Cathe’s style of teaching, cuing, and breaking down the choreography. I like this one for a non-Cathe workout and will do it from time to time when I do not need or want an intense workout. Christi does not include a lot of power moves, so this one gives me a gentler option. Not to mention, there are days when I do not have the energy to face Cathe.

The hi-lo workout is a blast. There is more taking it from the top than I usually like, but all the moves are a lot of fun. This is a party in a box with all the pivots and spins I adore. It is very dancy with a lot of fun moves that are new to me. The hi-lo workout is more intense than the step workout in my opinion. And it will be more intense when I am more familiar with the choreography. I am not an afternoon person at all, so I will enjoy it even more in the morning hours. I love the simple set, cute outfits, and most of the music. The hi-lo workout has better music in my opinion. All in all, this one is a keeper.

I ordered Happy Hour and Hi-Lo Heaven on VHS and Humble Beginnings on DVD. Because I have these new workouts on the way and Kari’s Push that I have only done once, I decided to do a variety rotation for 2 weeks. I want to play with my new workouts and get familiar with them. I also want to discipline myself to revisit some of my least favorite Cathe workouts. The variety will be good for me, and I want to see if I can bond with these workouts now.

Speaking of bonding with workouts, I decided to give Two the Max another whirl before giving it away. I did the hi-lo section last night and had such a good time. It dawned on me that I tried this the first time in the afternoon (when I am at my lowest physically). I also wore the wrong shoes for this choreography. I wore shoes with more lateral support last night and was able to do all the lateral moves on carpet. This one is a keeper (even with the wild outfits). I am not sure if I will do the step workout, but the hi-lo workout is worth the price of the video.

Jean, I love the Timesaver DVD! I started a thread in April asking for recommendations on buying the Timesaver DVD vs. the CTX Series. Everyone unanimously recommended the CTX Series. I bought it, and I am so glad I did. It is more intense and versatile, and I will get a lot more mileage out of it. One of the Ya Yas sent me her Timesaver DVD to try before I buy it. It is good to rotate with the CTX Series to give my joints a break from all the super high impact in those workouts. This is a compilation DVD using parts of the workouts from the Body Blast Series with bonus footage. I have the Body Blast Series on VHS, so I am really enjoying the DVD and definitely want the whole series on DVD. I plan to buy the Timesaver DVD too because it is useful for weeks when I am short on time and energy. The CTX Series is very intense and high in impact and requires more energy. The real gem on the Timesaver DVD is the leg workout. Cathe combines most of Legs and Glutes (minus the explosive lunges and a few other moves) with the barbell squats from Supersets (which makes it feel more complete in my opinion). She also adds bonus footage with kick-butt lunges that are really fun to do! Legs and Glutes is my least favorite lower body workout, but I love Timesaver 5. Overall, I think of this as a maintenance rotation (but I have dropped 2 pounds in 2 weeks with it). On the other hand, the CTX Series kicks some serious butt! That might be my perception too. I have been doing the Body Blast Series workouts in their entirety, so these shorter versions of the workouts naturally feel easier. The CTX Series workouts are new to me and have more of a shock value. The Timesaver DVD enabled me to finally master the Step Blast choreography! Doing the third combination by itself made it a lot easier to tackle. By the time I got to that part of the regular workout, I was too tired to focus on learning complex choreography! Now that I know it, I want to try the whole workout again. I do not have a multi-disc DVD player, so it is also convenient for me to have parts of all these workouts on a single DVD.

Karen, I am so sorry about your grandmother. I am keeping you and her in my prayers. I still miss my grandparents like crazy, so I know what you are going through right now.

Kathy, I am glad you are feeling better.

Wendy, have fun with Low Max.

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Good Morning Heather Kathy and Heather. Thank you all for your support and prayers with my grandmother. it's to early to call the hospital but I will this morning around 9 or 10. Today I'm going to do PUB and then this evening get in some sort of run. My eating was so so yesterday but today I have to start somwhere or I'll just get depressed. It is to easy to let eveything all go. So I won't.

Kathy- glad your feeling better

Wendy - good luck with the house. Are you staying in the same state?

HeatherB- I'm glad you kept up with the workouts. That is the most important part. Thnaks for your prayers.

Karen - I meant to mention your Grandmother -- I am sorry - in my thoughts and prayers also! I hope your day is not too taxing. ((((hugs))))

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Hi, ladies.

Heather-I just received my first Christi Taylor workouts last week. Solid Gold Step and Totally Cool Step. She's fun, and different than Cathe. But I do prefer Cathe. I ordered these because I really wanted a change in pace that was all step. They are good workouts, though, so I'll be keeping them and using them. I agree with your assessment on Christi vs Cathe. Christi has a LOT of turns and twists and stuff, but not a lot of power. Nice to the joints!

Wendy-what are you looking to buy in a house??? Just curious. As for Joey....welcome to raising BOYS!!!!!!! LOL. Top advice I've ever gotten and use and will pass onto you....do not give in to his temper tantrums! Stick to your guns when you say NO. (easier said than done, sometimes, lol).

Kathy-I'm glad you're feeling better too! This is the week that all of us dealing with some type of illness WILL HEAL!

I am pretty much back to 100% myself! FINALLY! A month, and all the goo from my nose and chest is GONE!!!!! Weekend workouts proved it to me....Saturday was step and PUB. Sunday was marathon stepping with Solid Gold Step (C Taylor) and Step Jam and Core Max. This morning was IMax and 200 reverse lungs. You could say I'm feeling better mentally AND physically! YEAH!

Happy Monday!

Gayle

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Hi everyone! Kathy, I'm glad you're feeling better today. I hope you can manage with your calorie reduction.

Wendy, so are you feeling more like yourself?? Ya, the terrible twos do start early don't they?!

Heather, it's fun to try out new workouts isn't it. Sounds like the Timesaver DVD has been a great asset for you though.

Karen your so wise to plan to eat well today, it'll help with keeping your emotions strong for everything you're going through with your grandmother. I pray that she is doing even better today.

Gayle that's great that you're back to feeling 100%. Boy you really appreciate that when you haven't felt fine.

Today is supposed to be Imax 2. We'll see if I'm up for it, I'll start it and then if I'm not up for it I'll switch to All Step, and maybe tack on something else from the CTX series.

I hope everyone has a very good day.

happy workouts ladies!

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Sunnyd and Karen, you just may have inspired me to be determined to do Imax 2 for sure. I just finished my preworkout meal and am drinking my coffee in preparation.

Thanks for the motivation!

Heidi :)

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Heather, I bought Christi's Fantastic 4 some time ago. I was not thrilled at all. I just didn't click with her or her work outs. I sold it on Ebay pretty quickly. I feel like the oddball though as so many folks like her if not love her! Oh well! An oddball I shall be!:p ;)

Karen, Good job on your work out today! Nothin' like a good sweat to help alleviate the emotional stress you must be feeling right now! I find exercise very helpful in that regard EXCEPT that I usually stay away from step when I'm stressed out cause I just can't concentrate well enough to get the foot work right. LOL
As for moving, yes, we are definately staying in Jersey. Couldn't pay me to leave cause almost everyone I know and love is here so I'm stayin' put!:+

Gayle, MAN! It's obvious that you are feelin' better girl!!! How many minutes of stepping was that total on Sunday you crazy girl? LOL
Yeah, we are looking to buy a new house. We want to expand the family and just don't have the room to do it here.;)

Heidi, Have fun with IMAX 2 if that's what you decide on! My shoulder/neck is feeling better, thanks!:)

Sunny, I hope you enjoy the spin class!:) My gym doesn't offer a beginners class! I had to go full throttle first time out! LOL  It's an awesome work out! I haven't taken a spin class in weeks and really need to. I just want to wait to make sure my shoulder/neck are okay cause you don't use your upper body so I could see that totally stiffening me up!x(

Well I got my lowmax circuit done this morning. I did it on an 8" step and PRAYED that I hadn't lost too much of my step know-how since taking up running so that I wouldn't kill myself! LOL I did okay. Caught right on to the moves pretty much and only stumbled a few times with no fear of falling at all!:p

I also transplanted the flowers I bought yesterday into thier new pots once DS went down for a nap. I hope they survive! I am new to the flower thing!!!

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Wendy good going on using an 8" step and doing well.

I did Imax 2, had to modify a few times and "fake" being all pumped up to keep going...LOL! Great workout though and I feel good about doing the whole thing. I think it was only my second time doing it.

Oh here's a funny thing. I stupidly wore sweat pants, it's rainy and cool here today. But after about the 2nd interval I was getting hot to the point of feeling like I couldn't go on, so I paused the tape, and took my pants off! LOL! There I was stepping in my underwear! :p I work out in our unfinished basement and I turned off the lights too to remove that source of heat. Gotta admit I felt much much better after that. But I really need to get myself a fan.

Now it's time to eat!

Heidi

RE: 12-Week Check-in

I am soooo psyched- i loved the spinning class. At first i wasn't sure because it seemed so hard. by the end, i was loving it!! just how i felt about imax 2 at first:D

Wendy- the only difference between this class and the regular one is this was only 45 mins. as opposed to the regular one that's 60 mins. they also have a power ride class that lasts for 75 mins...blech. don't think i will ever take that one. do you mind posting your lowmax circuit workout-it sounds interesting. good luck on the selling of your home. last spring was my first time ever planting anything. it was fun. i did kill alot of plants in the process...lol

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Heidi...LOL, you crack me up! But hey...do what you gotta do, right? That's one of the good things about home work outs cause you can work out in ANYTHING and in NOTHING if you prefer!;) Could you imagine stripping down to your skivvies in a GYM...now THAT would interesting!:p

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Sunny, I'm glad you enjoyed your spin class. My gym lets the members use the spin bikes any time that a class isn't going on. They never lock the room. I am considering purchasing one of the ITread bike work outs and trying it out when there is no class going on.

My Low Max circuit is VERY rough around the edges as I didn't put much thought into it before doing it but this was basically it:

Low Max step only with one of the following between each step segment:

1) squats

2) push ups

3) plie' squats

4) single arm rows

5) lunges-forward and backward

6) bicep curls

7) triceps kick backs

I left out shoulder work due to my recent problems but will probably work it in there in the future. Maybe I'll double up and do 2 exercises each time instead of 1 and that way I fit more in next time!}( Oh, and I basically did 32 of everything with all different counts. I am going to try to plan it out better for next time. It was a good work out though!}(
