I thought I would probably be the first one up this morning. I am trying to get in my carb breakfast before waking dh and the girls for my 5k. My goal today is to improve my time and to relax a little more. This is easier said then done when it is this close. Hope you all have a great workout and eating day. Talk to you when I get home.

Hi Karen, can't wait to hear how your second 5k experience turns out, I'm sure you'll do great! I admire you for doing this!

Today is supposed to be a 40 minute walk/run, but I woke up feeling like I should do some kickboxing since it's so good for trimming the hips and thighs. I think I'll do CTX Kickbox. Then I'm going to try to do The Bar Method "Fat Free", I haven't tried it yet.

I should also do some yoga for stretching.

Doing ME yesterday totally sent my metabolism through the roof, I was like a hungry bear! My chest is sore, so that's nice. I hope my appetite is more under control today.

Today is bf% checking day, I'll go do that now.

Have a fabulous day everyone! :)

Heidi

good morning all!
today's workout: walked for 4miles during the Relay for Life today. It's over now and we had the last 1hour. I wanted to run, but it didn't seem appropriate as everyone else was walking. I did manage to feel a few beads of sweat on my forehead:) LOL I'll considered today as an active rest day. I'll run tomorrow instead!

Heidi: let us know about your BF%. How are ya gonna measure it? the scale???

Karen: sending you good luck vibes ((HUGS)) I'm sure you will do GREAT as you have been working hard. keep us posted.

hello to everyone else!

take care:)
Gloria

BTW: I was challenged on my eating yesterday during the opening ceremonies of the relay for life. LOTS of goodies..turkey legs, brisket burritos, hamburgers, nachos and such. HAD NOTHING!!! went to chilis and had salmon, black beans and steamed veggies!!!! woohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gloria, way to go on resisting all those goodies. And way to go on walking for Relay for Life!!!

I measured my bf%, I use an Accumeasure, it's pretty nice to use ONCE you get the hang of it. My bf% stayed the same as last week, but I've lost 1/2" to 3/4" in some places, so that's nice...and quite shocking for one week's work. I'm a little confused though because it looks like I've lost some fat weight, but it also looks like I've lost some lean mass too. I think I'm going to have to decrease my caloric deficit a little. Tom Venuto in BFFM recommends upping your cals by 100-200 when this happens, which I plan to do.

My problem is I don't really need to lose weight, but I do have fat stores to reduce. So I'm not sure how that is done without restricting some calories.

Always something to figure out! ;)

12-Week Check-in

Good morning! I am delighted to report that my size 14 jeans fit again. Thanks to drinking plenty of water this week, 10 pounds of bloat departed. The itching from my soy reaction has finally subsided as well. I am not having any respiratory issues either.

All Step is on my rotation this morning. I was planning to do Leaner Legs as well, but I am likely going to skip that this morning in the interest of time. I have a lot to do today. I am looking forward to doing All Step for the first time.

I am loving the CTX Series. The Intensity Series is my overall favorite, but this will likely be my second favorite. It is very versatile, and it is a cardio lover’s dream. I am really liking the style of training one body part a day. If I ever return to workouts in the fitness center at the club, I might try this there. I have a short attention span when it comes to weight training, and this is perfect for me!

Heidi, thanks for reminding me that I still have time to make progress. After reading your response yesterday, I thought about the amazing results I saw last summer between the 4th of July and my birthday (in 7-8 weeks). I did my first Cathe workout a year ago, but that was my first Cathe rotation.

Wendy, I also appreciate your exhortation to stay positive. I am usually very positive. I get discouraged with myself because I seem to be destined for gradual transformation. I am always amazed at people who can start a challenge like this and see awe-inspiring results. The 4th of July will be the 3-year anniversary of the start of my fitness journey. I really want to have 100 pounds gone by then. It was a realistic goal when I started this challenge. As a result of my setback, I have 25 pounds to shed in 7 weeks if I still hope to get there. I realize that is just a number, but it would be a huge milestone for me to finally reach that goal. I would still be 30 pounds from my ultimate goal, but I would be jumping for joy!

Karen, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers today. Best wishes!

Gloria, good job with your eating. Keep it up this weekend!

Kathy, I hope to talk to you later today!

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Heather, I'm glad you're feeling better, what a bad state to be in!! Phew! And way to go into fitting in those jeans! :D

Have fun doing All Step, that's a good one. Heck all the CTX workouts are good. I'm so glad I did the rotation, it was really enjoyable and certainly productive. I was supposed to do a walk/run today but I'm doing CTX Kickbox instead, just finishing up my coffee in preparation for it (fuel!).

I'm glad you're remotivated! Woo hoo! :7

Heidi

I just finished CTX Kickbox. I ate some oatmeal with half a banana mashed in, plus a little bit of protein powder for my preworkout meal. Then I had 2 cups of coffee. What a difference in energy for my workouts. Now that doesn't mean I was able to do those power scissors without modifying most of them, LOL! :p

Ooops, the hunger pangs just kicked in, time for some grub!

Heidi

Good Morning...actually it's ALMOST afternoon! LOL ;)

Karen: Best of luck girl! I know by now you are long done with your race! Hope you did well! Heck, I KNOW you did well! :) Sounds like a fun rest of the day for you and your family as well.

Heidi: Good job on the lost inches. You pose a good question about how to lose BF when you don't really need to lose any weight and what I am thinking (I could be wrong-this is only a guess!) is that you really don't need that much of a calorie reduction but more as clean of a diet as you can muster-keeping the fat to a minimum, tons of water and lots of cardio! That would be my take on it anyway. :)

Gloria: Good job beating the temptations! :) I have a hard timing turning down yummy foods when I am out in a situation like that. When I'm at a restaraunt where I have to order a meal I do better than when the food is just out in front me BEGGING to be eaten! LOL }( :9 :p

Heather: So glad you got rid of that pesky bloat! I HATE that too! Yesterday, which is the day after I ate that stupid icecream I was 2 pounds heavier from bloat! This morning I back down to normal.

So I weighed and measured and I am down in BF, weight and inches from when the challenge started. WOO HOO! I still have to take my pics. If not today then tomorrow. :)

I will be doing an SS work out today. I think that will be it for me as I have plans this afternoon and don't know if I'll have the chance to do anything further this evening.

Have a great day everyone!:)

Wendy, way to go on all those loses!! How motivating for you! Boy what we can accomplish when we put our minds to it.

I think you are right about me not needing much of a calorie reduction, I really do!! I'm going to rework my zig-zagging plan and allow for more calories over all. You've confirmed my own thoughts. Like you say, the key is eating clean, and lots of cardio.

I'd like to take some progress pics too, maybe tomorrow, or Monday.

Afternoon!

Karen - Good Luck -- I forgot to ask if the was a web page for it so we could check on you....maybe I will cruise later and see what I can find????

Heidi - I am not sure what you are doing to depleat lean muscle mass - sometimes I think our bodies are different every day! I love ME - hope you have a lovely day!

Gloria - You are absolutely the most active runner I know! Wonderful on saying "no" to treats!

Heather - Fantastic -- I am so glad you can get in those jeans!!!! Way to go! I will be giving you a buzz after little goes down tonight about 8:30 - 9:00 if that is OK -- I am feeding the police tonight!!

Wendy - Fantastic, Good Job!!! Wonderful!!

Well, I am afraid that I am about where I started - I don't know why but I am. I seem to have been doing so well but I got off track the week before I signed up with Ms. Sessions - I spiked up to 140 lbs and have lost 1.2 lbs and am waiting on my BF calculating things to get here. I don't have any idea what happenned but I cannot believe I ate as much as I have, exercised as little and lost even one lb!!! Today is a real test ....as I have stated before I live in a really rural area and my DH is working this weekend - he is a policeman and he sells wholesale farm and ranch equipment. Anyway - he is Police on weekends and there is hardly any place to eat here so I cook for the policemen every other Saturday. Tonight the menu is grilled chipolte/lime marinaded steaks, 7 layer salad with black beans, sour cream, cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, black olives, avocados.....,cut up canteloupe, hot water corn bread and iced tea. AND - DH picked a bunch of blackberries yesterday so I am making a blackberry cobbler and have vanilla ice cream to put on top of it....isn't that sickening?????? I can have some steak but, oh my,...I have to stay away from the cobbler and the ice cream!!! I can do it - I haven't even licked anything from making the cobbler!!!

This week is a strength week and my protein is higher, carbs lower, and there are more fibrous veggies (I found out from a friend that I could have been adding vegetables all last week *sigh* but I am full anyway!)

I am undecided what to use for my strength week. Ms. Sessions has specific exercises and she told me it was fine to use any lifting program I wished as long as I do her cardio plan and they are similar. I will either use the Gym Styles, Pyramids, Pure Strength or Slow and Heavy....I am not leaning to S&H as I have quite a bit of muscle mass already. I am thinking GS since it has the band work. My cardio will be 5 sessions of 25 minutes this week. So, I have to workout my plan

my but I am talky today...

Today is my rest day - I did go grocery shopping and I bought Kade a sandbox with a lid and it is all set up and ready to play in this evening!!!

Food For Yesterday - was the same as all week and my last day of all potato days!!!!

I hope everyone is having a great a weekend as me!

quick check'in to say hi!
i have three parties on tap today. one is already down, 2 to go.
today is definitely a cheat day:9 no way i will be able to resist all the delectables today.

today is also a rest day for me. no workout.
yesterday i went to the gym and walked on the treadmill for 60 minutes.

karen-good luck today. i know you did great!

Hi everyone. I'm back. It was so nice to come home to all the well wishes today. It makes you feel so love and supported. I'm posting some of what I wrote from the Runner's Forum over here because the lovely thoughts and kind words go to both check in because you all are so supportive of me, my runs, and this challenge.

Welllllll. I did FAN FREAKIN TASTIC. I can't tell you how awesome I feel. My time was 24:38 and I came in first in my age group. How is that for progress. My first 5k was 25:57 and I came in 5th in the age group. Grant it there are better times then mine but not today in my age group. The best thing was when the girls and dh heard my name. We all looked at one another and said. What!!! Did they just call you. I was like Yeah I think they did. I am so happy with my time improvement. These past two weeks I have really focused on my speed work and it paid off. I mean that is like a minute and a half shaved off of that. I must have looked like a nut coming in the chute because I saw the time and I almost fainted at how much better it was then the last.

Other than all the fantastic things that happend with me today. The best part came at the end when this women came over to me and said, " Nice race, I couldn't keep up with you". We were about the same age. I told her a million time how I appreciated what she just said to me. I mean those words made my day. The weather was fantastic and the views that the race took me on were lovely. Right along the water. I'm thinking of doing another one in two weeks.

I hope all of you did well on water, workouts and food today. I will look over everthing after I make dinner. Thanks again girls. I really love checking in with this challenge. Now if only my eating ratios were as good as my time. LOL

Kathy, my gosh that was a lot of food to make!! I don't know how on earth you can resist all that. I suppose being under someone's plan might help keep you on the straight and narrow!

I'm sure you'll start seeing some great progress soon!

I myself have made hummus, and now black bean & asparagus soup in preparation for eating healthy this week. :9

Oh and I think my loss of lean mass is due to my calories being just a bit too low. I'll fix that! :p

Heidi

You already know I'm excited for you Karen....I feel so proud! ;-)

You've taken all of this to a new level haven't you? It's like you've been given wings to fly off into a new direction. That's a nice thing to see no matter who it is, but I'm glad it's happening to you! :D
