12 Week Challenge 05/09

Lori – I commend you for only eating a handful of crap – I can eat a whole pie……I am having heavy TTOM also. *sigh*. I love Power Hour!

Wendy – I have been majorly craving a greasy cheeseburger, fries and a coke – I haven’t had one in months…….it would probably make me sick but I really want one!

Jenn – My cheat day is turning into cheat weekend…….I have a plan though – nice run!

Gayle – Hope today finds you feeling much better!

Heather – I know the swim was nice – I am waiting for the weather to get the water warm enough – it is just about there! I will be thinking about you when you go to see your family.

SunnyD – Good run and I love ME – it is in my current rotation.

Jean – I am with you I am afraid ….it is OK, this challenge is going to help us!! I am getting serious, the weekend keeps throwing me off but I have a battle plan!

Gloria – I know what is between me and my pounds. It is my eating….seems like I stayed so discipline for so long that my mouth is rebelling but time to put a lock on it!

Heidi – Congrats on your weight!!! You are doing really well – we DO need your encouragement! Thanks! I have done the July 03 rotation several times – it is one of my favorites!

OK – Yesterday I did Imax2 and today I did Ripped and Turbo Jam Fat Blaster – 387 calories burned in 84 minutes, HR 102 ave/152 max. My eating yesterday was good but my weekend messed me up again and this is my plan. I thought that during the week is when I usually do my best so what is it that I do different? I get up and make my meals for the day, put them in my lunch container and go to work. I don’t eat anything that isn’t in my box (at least 99% of the time). So this weekend I am making my food for the day like I do for my days at work and put them in my little box and I am going to eat only out of it – if I condition myself enough I can do it – I know I can and I am in a challenge for goodness sake…..not supposed to be easy…..this is something I want to achieve – and I am going to do it!!! WE can do this!!!! We are in week 3 and I want some results!!!!!!

Good Morning Kathy.

Good plan to beat the w/e cheat meals! I know for me, the problem tends to be that I eat away from home a lot. Depending on what I am doing, where I am going, etc., there are times I could bring food with me but not all of the time. Quite frankly though, to be bothered "packing a lunch" to go out on the weekends is just not something I am willing to do most of the time. I have done it in the past but usually I just roll with it and try to make the best of whatever situation I am in for food. Good luck to you!:) BTW-I rarely eat cheeseburgers and fries myself and these were good and greasy and let me tell you...they went down SUPER EASY and sooo did NOT make me sick! I was in HEAVEN!:9 }( :9 :+

Good Morning Ladies!:)

WOW! Two people have officially beaten Lori to the punch this morning! She is sooo obviously pregnant!:p

So whatever is ailing me started out as a phlegm throat and cough and at some point yesterday turned into a head cold. YUCK!
Hey Gayle-Misery loves company, right!:p

I finally did HSCh yesterday morning but w/being sick it was tough to get through it and I didn't even do the full w/o. I did TS #1 (51 mins)!

The next work out on the rotation is MIS U/B and abs but I went heavy in HSCh and didn't get in the rest day I was supposed to between the 2 so I think I will be doing some switching of my work outs this week to get them all in. In 2 days I'm supposed to do LL + ab work. I think I will do that today since the leg work done in HSCh was sparse and I used light weight. Then tomorrow I can do U/B.

I am up super early today...I woke up at 4am and couldn't fall back to sleep cause of this stupid cold!x( Thank god today isn't cardio...I don't know if I could breath sufficiently enough to get through it!:p

Good morning Kathy and Wendy, and other fellow challengers.

Kathy, what a great idea you have for eating clean on the weekends! I think it makes a huge difference when your meals are already planned and prepared. I've been reading a lot lately in how your diet/clean eating is most important in getting results.

Wendy, I commend you for working out through a head cold! Yuck!

Today is CTX Step & Intervals day. I also need to get cooking or atleast plan this week's groceries so eating healthy is a breeze.

Have a good one!
Heidi :)

Heidi,

I love it when I've just gone food shopping. Eating well is sooo easy cause my house is nicely stocked. I know it's time to shop again when I spend more than 5 mins deciding what to eat. ;)

good morning all!
today's workout: TJ's Kick,punch and Jam cardio only and Amy Bento's All Pump:HILO cardio only. That's a 50min workout...it was great!

Kathy: great plan to stick to good eating. I'm gonna have to do teh same!

Heidi, Wendy and everyone else: have a good day and I'm gonna stick to my clean eating today...ONE DAY AT A TIME, right???

I did good yesterday:)
take care:)
Gloria

Oh and Kathy I'm glad to hear Cathe's July '03 rotation is a favourite of yours. I think I might start it next week. Then I might do her Aug. '04 "Burn Fat/Shape Legs & Glutes"....it looks promising. And then do her Oct. '05 "Upper Body Bliss".

I'm only into week 3 of my CTX rotation and I'm definately getting good results from it. I should challenge myself to stick it out for a full 4 weeks....I'm so darn fickle!!

Heidi

Hey everyone, in searching the Cathe forum for ideas in how to tackle saddlebags, I found this site below. I've read his stuff before, and find his articles to be so good, enough that I'm printing them out to put into my binder where I keep Cathe rotations, fitness tips etc. His site is probably familiar to you.

The ones I'm finding really interesting are from "6. The Scale" section. Especially the one about changing from the inside out, and measuring progress. Interesting stuff!!

12-Week Check-in

I started previewing the CTX Series last night. It looks like a blast. I love high impact and intensity. It is a good thing. I am hoping and praying that my joints can handle it. I would love to blast off a few more pounds before my trip next month, and I am thinking about starting the CTX Series next week instead of the rotation I was planning with Step, Jump, & Pump, Kick, Punch, & Crunch, Gauntlet, IMAX Extreme, Boot Camp, and Step Blast. Now that I see that in writing, the CTX Series might actually be a gentler approach! ;-)

I stayed up too late again last night. I was all set to be in bed before midnight, but I read Cathe’s latest update and got too excited! :7

I did a homemade circuit of Supersets this morning with intervals of rebounding. Fun, fun, fun. I love Supersets. The VHS version is not as challenging as some of Cathe’s super advanced workouts, but it is perfect for lighter weeks. The stability ball adds to the fun factor. :)

Kathy, thanks for the pep talk. This is a challenge, and I too want results. We need to clean up that weekend eating!

Gayle and Wendy, I hope you are feeling better soon.

Heidi, I am encouraged to read that you are getting good results with the CTX Series. Are you using it as designed?

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Good Morning everyone. Today I did speed interval work on the treadmill for 40 min. I am trying to reduce my 5K time in the next two weeks and I hear speed work is the way to do it. What a tough 40 min that was. I did cover 4 miles total, so I'm happy with that. Making your heartrate go up and down like that has to have an effect on your time. I then did 25 min of yoga just to get a little more centered.

Wendy- I hope you are feeling better. It sounds like you and Gayle have the same thing.

Kathy- I don't know what it is with the weekends. It's funny how things in the house don't bother you all week but when Sat and Sun hit they start to call you name. i think you have a great plan of attack for this weekend.

Not that our struggles are good but at least we are all in the fight together. Maybe one day one of us will figure out how to get the mam in the goody jar to stop talking to us.

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Heather, thanks for mentioning Cathe's update, I didn't catch that!!

I highly recommend doing a CTX rotation. I hadn't really seen much progress until I started it 2 weeks ago, and of course I attribute a lot of the changes to eating clean 99% of the time, and having a caloric deficit. I do account for calories burned though, and add that to my day's allowance.

This is the order that I do the workouts in, I think I saw this posted somewhere on the forum and it's a good set up as far as doing muscle groups in a good order, and allowing for a couple days between Power Circuit (legs) and Leaner Legs:

Day 1 Power Circuit (legs/back/abs)
Day 2 Step & Intervals (chest)
Day 3 All Step (shoulders/abs)
Day 4 Leaners Legs (abs)
Day 5 10-10-10 (triceps)
Day 6 Kickbox (biceps/abs)
Day 7 REST

I find when I do abs on Day 4 they are a little sore from the previous day's ab work. You could skip that I suppose, because you're still getting 3 ab workouts in the week.

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Good morning everyone!

The challenge is giving me willpower! Our lounge is filled with even more goodies than yesterday! I had one little sample and walked away (about a quarter of a piece of brownie).

Someone on this forum said that the first bite tastes just as good as the last. (I think it was Kathryn) It doesn't taste better as you eat more, so I stopped at that one bite.

Another run is planned for me today, and then a weight workout tonight.

Have a super Tuesday!

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Hi Girls!

I am just getting my butt out of bed. I worked last night and there was no way I had the energy to start this before I went home.I was so tired and not to mention sick.Blah;( So I keep telling myself that once I have this bagel in me I know I will feel better but I am not so sure about that.

Im not sure what I will be doing today. I would like to workout but it may not be in the cards. I haven't been around much lately b/c Im just not that much fun to be around. And I try to keep moving b/c I feel less sick when I move about. Anyway, like Ive said a million times I can't wait for the 3 month mark to be over and I pray that I am back to normal after that.Well...thats if I ever were normal to begin with!:p

Lori:)

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Lori, I hope you start feeling better soon!! It's no fun to feel icky all the time. What about walking for your workout?

Heidi

RE: 12-Week Check-in

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Well, I barely made it through but I made it none-the-less! Through Meaner Legs, that is! I had to push sooo hard to get through each exercise and was sure I wouldn't make it to the end but I somehow managed. It's this dang cold! It's really suckin' the endurance outta me! UGH!

I did PUB ab work prior to LL and I am proud to say that I am soooooo very close to doing a full pike on the ball! I am friggin' ECSTATIC about this! I NEVER thought I'd even get THIS close! WOO!:+ :7 :+ }( :+ :7 :+

Well, I gotta go for now but I'll come back and catch up with everyone a bit later as well as report on my eating!

Happy Tuesday!:)

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Thanks girls. I hate to be all whiney but I can't help it:-( Im not that kind of person but pregnancy does strange things to people.

I just tried to do HST but I didn't get very far.Im to lazy so I think I am going to take a shower and maybe another cat nap before i have to go to work.

Lori:)

RE: 12-Week Check-in

Lori, lazy is not a word you can label yourself with!! What you're doing is listening to your body, that's all. You're being too hard on yourself girl! Man those first weeks, it's like you've been drugged or something.
