12 lb. dumbbells-Where to buy?

Was anyone able to find these in a store, or did you have to buy them online? I went to Sports Authority because they have them on the web, but was told none of the stores carry them. Meanwhile, it's gonna double the price for me to order them because of shipping! Help!

Hi Tricia, I ordered mine online, but I can't remember where. I got a pretty good deal. You can also order them from Fitnessfirst.com. I also have an extra pair of 12 pounders that I'll sell you for shipping only. If you're interested, let me know your zip code and I'll see how much shipping is. They are the hex dumbbells and pretty new. I'm only selling them because I bought the rubber encased ones as I have a wood floor.
 
I got mine at "Play it Again Sports." They may also be available in Walmart or Dick's or other stores that sell free weights. Sometimes stores can get in items they usually don't carry, if the chain carries them. Go back to Sports Authority and talk to someone higher up to see if you can get the 12# special ordered. Then you wouldn't have to pay the extra shipping (because they'd come in on a truck with some other merchandise).
 
Is there a Dick's Sporting Goods near you, Tricia? They sell them. Also, you can buy them online at the same place.

I bought mine at a Sports Mart. The 12#'s are around. You can also check the specialty shops that just have fitness equipment. Good luck, hope you don't have to pay shipping for dumbbells.

I had a hard time finding these as well. Olympia Sports in my area finally started carrying them. That's where I got mine.
 
Here in the Dallas area, the only place I found that carries the neoprene ones above 10 lbs is Galyan's. The metal hex dumbbells, any Academy, Wal-Mart, Oshmans etc.
 
Galyans has the neoprene covered ones in every size imagineable. I even saw 35 lb dumbbells there the other day!

They definitely have the 12 lbers. You should check it out if you have one near you.
 
Wow, thanks everybody. I have a Dick's Sporting Goods in the area that I haven't tried yet. (I have been to my Walmart& Target, who do not have them.) I want the Hex dumbbells since my whole set is HEX. Kelley, if I don't find them at Dick's, I would definitely take you up on your offer. Let me check here first -I'd hate to have you go to all that trouble if I can get them local. (I'm in SC).
I should know by tomorrow - I think it's sooo nice of you to even offer, but What should I expect from anyone on Cathe's site!!
