10 pound meltdown Tues Nov 6

I'm so proud of myself for NOT getting on the scale this morning. It's a terrible habit I got into during my college years when I took my first yo-yo dip in weight. Whenever I've had a good day of clean eating and done a workout, I get on the scale the next day, expecting to see a huge drop. Of course, I don't, then I get disappointed. Sound familiar to anyone?

Today calls for some extra veggies due to the Daily Challenge over on the OF. I'm doing 4DS Kickbox, legs and abs after work. Have a great day!

Morning all.

PMS is kicking my butt this week, so I might not be around much. I don't think I'll be very good company.

I'm trying hard not to make myself feel better with oodles of Halloween candy. I did eat two tiny chocolate bars yesterday. I'll try to avoid them today.

Robin - way to go not getting on the scale!

Good Morning:

I did not weigh myself either! So congratulations to us!:)

I did the Amy Bento Slo-Mo Back & Shoulder workout this morning. I had to do only 2 sets instead of 3 on some excercises to keep it around 50 minutes. Every excercise she does is something I have never seen before. I changed some things.. like using the stability ball.. mine is very squishy ( is that a word?) and does not support like it needs to for what she does. Some I like, and some I don't. If you get bored with Slow & Heavy, you will probably be bored with this one too. She does 3 sets of 8 for everything with various rep speeds, a lot of 4 count lifts. I will give it a chance. I still have to do the chest, tricep & bicep workout.

Back tomorrow!

I have not checked in here one time since I signed up for the challenge. I do have a habit of that though. I sign up for something and then I don't commit. So I wanted to report that I did not lost anything last week. Didn't gain either - I weighed exactly the same. I didn't have a good weekend though b/c I was away but I had a good day yesterday. Hoping today goes good as well. I had a turkey sausage and special K red berry waffles for breakfast. I have to go to a meeting today and they are serving a buffet for lunch. I hope there are some healthy choices on it.

Have a great day everyone!

Well, I jumped on the scale lol! It was good though, cuz it went the right way. SO this work is paying off, and it adds to my motivation. I need to do more cardio, I know I do, so I need the extra motivation for that too. I could lift weights till the cows come home. I loveed powermax last night, so it renewed my love for step. CCan't wait to do it again!

Hey fellow Melters!

Robin~ good job on avoiding the scale!

Shelly~ At least PMS is temporary. Hide that chocolate and smile! We love you and we all get PMS too! OK I hope that wasn't irritating. It is just an attempt to make you smile. Hey I have found myself being negative even with out PMS. WTH? I am trying to make a conscious effort not to say anything negative. Correct me when I fall off the nice wagon pleeeeeease!

Today was 4DS KB/ Legs /abs and in a bit I will tack on shoulders. Then it is chores, voting and one stop to a store for a tiny it of holiday shopping. Then Mom duty: driving

todays menu:

B smoothie: tofu, banana chocolate soy (lite) milk 1TBSP peanut butter
L mixed greens salad & melted 75% reduced fat cheddar on a high fiber tortilla
S apple(s) and coffee or tea
D Vegetarina Italian Wedding Soup ( 'quorn' meatballs and veggie broth instead of beef meatballs and chicken broth ) also "lotsa" spinach in it. Also Salad and a toasted tortilla with olive oil spray and garlic.

Edit: Hi Meaghan!!!!! Good job this week!

Hi everyone. Well, I'm still sick, but that's all I'll say about that for now--don't want to go on and on about it (even though the illness seems to go on and on).

Yesterday I managed to only eat one piece of leftover Halloween candy. How sad is it that I'm proud of that? I can't say I ate none of it, so I have to be proud that I limited myself to one.

I ate well other than that. Oh, except for a few too many Reduced Fat Nilla Wafers. I've got the PMS sweet tooth going right now.

I did Amy Bento's Advanced Step Challenge 2 yesterday and it was pretty fun. I felt comfortable enough with everything but the last combo--think I'll start with that one next time so I can work on learning it when I'm not tired. Today I'm going to start trying her Slo-Mo Strength Challenge with the chest, biceps & triceps split.

Robin, I'm one that actually does better when I check the scale often. If I don't, then it's probably because I'm in denial. When I check it, I'm either encouraged at good numbers or challenged to do better by bad numbers. Lately I've been avoiding the scale. :(

Shelley, if you can avoid the candy, I will try to as well!

Judy, I'm impressed that you can post your day's menu in advance. Maybe I should do better at planning ahead like that. I usually have dinner figured out because I plan meals before I shop for groceries, but lunch is often prepared in a hurry and unplanned.

I would like to do more personals, but my kids are climbing on me. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hey 10-Pounders! :)

Robin - good job NOT getting on the scale. It's a habit I can't break. I get on every.single.day. And I'm the same way - if I've eaten clean and done a good workout, I expect to see a lower number! But I usually don't, and I get all depressed. Booooo!

I did 4DS Kickbox and core (no legs) this morning - great workout! Looking forward to the veggies and fruit challenge. Carrot cake counts as a veggie, right? :p

Shelley, ((((hugs)))) We're here if you need us.

Deb, I actually had to get myself a new, firmer stability ball because mine was too squishy too!

Dana, good luck with the buffet! Those are always really tempting.

Maeghan, good job on getting the scale to move the right way! :)

Judy, your menu for today sounds delish - especially the soup!

Good work, everyone! Keep it up! :D

Hello everyone:

First I love the idea of not stepping on the scale daily. Either I lose a lot and am so thrilled that I "reward" myself (with a treat of course) and then it is up again the next day -- or I don't lose any and I'm upset about it. (it becomes a lose/lose situation) So, I think I'm going to stick to a once a week weigh in!

Next, as for the Halloween candy -- I can not resist it!! So, since I paid my kids for theirs and pitched it all -- I ate perfectly yesterday. The only advice I can give you is: Get it out of the house!!!

I also love that some of you can post your meals. It really give me some good ideas of what to plan!

And finally, I did not get up early this morning. I am trying to break my caffeine habit and woke with a TERRIBLE headache. I am really struggling - I hate water. So, I've been drinking Crystal Light instead (the strawberry one with caffeine). Not a smart idea. I've been having stomach aches lately - so decided to slowly down my consumption of caffeine. So now I've traded in the stomach ache for the horrible headache. :( Do all of you drink straight water???

Later -
Michelle

I've got a bottle of RealLemon lemon juice in the fridge. I pour my water into a big insulated mug and then give it just a sprinkle of lemon juice. Really helps the taste. Plus I use cold water from the fridge (though often it's just tap water I've put in a water jug). I find water is tastier when it's cold.

Crap. I just wrote a post and lost it. Dang it.

I guess it was not meant to be.:) So here is a condensed version.

I did great yesterday-compared to how I have been doing-no sugar at all. Ate some dried mango instead and enjoyed herbal tea instead of my beloved vino last night.:) Trying not to get on the scale either this AM, I do the same thing, never used to until I got the surgery, where all of a sudden all my clothes fit looser. I stepped on and had lost 10 pounds, ever since I get on obsessively every AM to see if I can maintain it. x( I do know these "love chunks" gotta go. I have no back fat, and you can see my upper abs somewhat, its that place right above my hipbones-gushy!

Shelley, try taking chaste berry every day for the PMS. It helps with moods, cravings, I swear it does!

TK, Cute! A stripper eh? What marina are you docked at?

Will force myself to do "Firm It Up" Slim Series for the lower body. I feel guilty not doing them, I paid for them so I must, plus even though they bore me to tears, they are effective.

Congrads to everyone (cannot possibly remember everyone's name here) that lost so far, and keep on melting!

Hey Everyone!

Wasn't around yesterday as I was attending a training on Stock-based Compensation... FUN! FUN! FUN! (NOT!!!!) :p

Anyway, I got up this morning to do my 1st BBC Workout (Arms & Abs) and didn't like it. I need more structure than "we're going to do this exercise and I'll start it off but won't count for you until we're at the last 10 reps"... and everyone seemed to be going at a different pace. Don't know.. I'll keep it and come back to it in a few months maybe. Right now I need something more solid. I think I'll try a rotation using the Intensity Series this month. (I didn't buy the 4DS)

Have a great "clean" day!

Hey B, I felt the same way the first time I did a BBC workout. The second time seemed better.

Michelle, my DH accidently de-caffienated me earlier this year when he used decaf by mistake. I ended up calling in sick, thinking I was having a migraine. I discovered the mistake after being headachey and sick to my stomach for two days. I was my old self within 15 minutes of drinking a cup of real coffee.

Hi Michelle,

I drink water straight. No crystal light or any other flavorings. I try to consume 2 1.5 liter bottles while I'm at work. When I did WW a few years ago I found that drinking lots of water was the only way to help me stay within my points limit and not eat everything in site. And it works!

Also, I remember going cold-turkey on caffeine sometime last year. I think it took about 5 days for the horrible "caffeine-withdrawal" headache to go away but those were some miserable 5 days! Good luck!

ETA: Thanks for the tip, Robin! I think I've pretty much convinced myself that Intensity Series is the way to go this month, but like I said, I will keep BBC and see how I feel about it later on down the line.

Hello fellow melters!

I'm taking part in the veggie challenge even though I haven't officially posted in the challenge thread. I'm making lentil soup -- a big pot -- and I plan to have it for dinner every night the rest of the week. I normally love vegetables but lately I haven't felt like eating them at all, so a veggie laden soup seems like a good way to get a nice variety. I've come down with a cold and soup just sounds so good to me.

I've decided to follow Cathe's 4DS rotation. Thank you to those who replied in my rotation thread.

Sorry for the lack of personals. I promise I've read all of your posts but I don't have time to reply to everyone today. Please know that I'm rooting for each of you :)

*hangs head in shame* I stepped on the scale again today. The number went the wrong way just a little, then it ticked me off. Stupid me, I should know better! Robin your comment about avoiding the scale is so right. Remind me to weigh myself only once a week, please!

Sorry no personals today, I gotta run. I'll try to catch up tomorrow.
