Good morning, cheetah babes!

Linda—glad DD is feeling better, at least for the moment. I’m sorry, can you share her due date again? I’ve forgotten. ..*lol* It was OK about the letters. I don’t know if I would iron on my name next time, but maybe a funny message on the back. Then again, there won’t be too many people reading it. *lol* So glad you had a great run & BBC workout.

Wendy is off on her weekend getaway, and I’m doubting she’ll come back to read today’s thread, so I’ll just save personals for when she returns.

Hmm, well, yesterday’s run seemed to exacerbate an odd little situ I’ve got goin’ on with one of my knees. During the marathon (and on a couple of runs beforehand), I did “feel” the tendon or muscle on the outside of the knee at the head of the fibula. It just felt a little tired. And that’s how both knees have been feeling lately—a little stiff, a little tired. No big deal. Well, I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday’s run, but I did have a little bit of discomfort in that right knee, and it’s still rather sore this morning. Seems to hurt when I extend. So, I’m going to stick with the EXT again for today and a nice, thorough yoga session. If anyone has experience with aches in this area, I’d be most appreciative of any suggestions.

Have a GREAT Saturday!

Good morning Cheetahs!

Cathy - I forgot you had the resolutions package for iTrain. Hope in the future they go back down on their prices or offer a free download every now and then. I'm not much for crowds either. Being a short person, I wouldn't have been able to see a thing. The Obama girls are just little darlings. Did you know grandma was coming to live with them too? Can't wait to see what kind of dog they choose. Glad you enjoyed your days off. I have a holiday coming up Tuesday. Looking forward to it. Glad you got a nice run in with the mist. Yeah, good old fresh air. Do hope the knee is ok.

Wendi - Sorry your bowling game wasn't the best. But, you'll get that 300 again. ;)

Wendy - Hope you have a fun weekend! I hear you on your mom's cooking. My mom use to do the same thing. She's had to cut back because of health issues. She will still cook some kind of dessert every now and then and she'll want me to eat some of it. That's what moms are for I guess except for this one here. I am not a great cook. :D I can do enough to get by.

Judy - How's the LB feeling today? Good luck to DS with tryouts. Oh, what a fun anniversary you have coming up. When do you leave?

Carole - Glad to hear you're meeting some of your goals. Yeah, I remember you saying you didn't like to run with your ipod. I'm learning to not use mine when I race and I didn't use it with my running partner either. Hope you had a good run yesterday.

Christine - Glad DH and his luggage made it home safely. Sorry to hear he's in pain. Did you take him to the emergency room? Hope he's feeling better.

Dallas - How's the hip today? Can understand having a lot of things to get done would make you put lunch off a little. As long as you got something down is all that counts. Did you get everything done?

Shelly - Glad you had a nice day there in PA and you were able to get a good run in. I don't usually let a lot of stuff bother me. Life is too short. Decided to stick with 4DS this month because I don't seem to get as sore from it. That will make my half a little easier if I'm not dealing with sore legs.

Linda - Glad DD is feeling better. I know Feb. can't get here soon enough. Glad you enjoyed your 3 mile run and BBC. What's next for you?

Didn't make it here yesterday. Got bogged down at work. Yesterday's workout was 10 minutes on the EXT, a 10 minute run and 4DS Triceps & Biceps and LIS Core. Waiting for it to warm up some this morning before heading out for a 7 mile run.

Enjoy your day!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I am sure I will use the iPod once in awhile for running. Sounds like a nice run in the misty rain yesterday morning. I am wondering if your pain/tiredness is ITB related? It does affect the outside of the knee area like you described. Stretching and icing does help alot. Also staying off uneven surfaces which can be tricky on the street!

Christine...thanks for the hotel info...:)...LOL, one of these days I will get DH to fly! How is your DH today? Did you get him to ER?

Dallas...I do 3 hip e-cises. The static back and then (I don't remember the name of it) the same position as static back but one leg is down and straight while the other is bent, up on the chair. I do both sides. Glad your hip is feeling better. I just did S&H back as a sub for the back work in P90X Legs & back. We will have to talk about Hawaii when we are in Napa!!...:D

Shelly...Good jo on the household chores. I feel like I am never quite caught up! LMBO about Spanky being the wimp.!! One thing about Beau is he loves the water so rain does not bother him. It will be interesting next winter when we run to see if the weather is a factor for him. 50 weekly miles is great!! Yes, I did use the iPod, only one ear though...:)..I liked it but need more comfy ear pieces.

Linda...thanks re: my weight loss. You are sweet..:)...Glad to see you got back to BBC! Sounds like you got in a good run also.

Jackie...I have not been much of a fan of using anything in my ears for a run. I would NOT when I run with my sis and friend. But once in awhile I will do it as I like hearing the music...:)...How was the 7 mile run yesterday?

I am a bit tired today. My sleeping has been not great the last few nights. I might need a nap later! I am planning on some kind of KB workout.

Have a great day...:)

Good morning cheetahs! I slept so hard last nite!! I really needed it I guess. This cold is pretty much history now:D Left just in time for me to get back to work:confused: Just as well, I'm not eligible to use any paid time off for another month. Getting my front entrance area/foyer painted now. It's actually a fairly large area and lots of doors so the painting is gonna take a while but it's the last major area I have to do (besides the ceilings)
Having to paint everything twice to cover up the intense colors slows things up considerably too! For those who are curious what crazy colors I'm covering now. The foyer is peach on the top half and mint green on the bottom. Actually not as bad as the rest of the house!

Okay, enough boring babble about my house renovation.

Cathy- Those morning runs in a cool mist are the best aren't they? Glad that things have slowed down to a more or less normal pace for you now. re: the knee soreness.... every now and then I get some recurrent soreness in areas where I have injured myself before (right groin- right ITB, L ankle) I do exactly what you are doing, massage, and back off the impact a bit and all is well again. I'm betting in another day your knee will feel just peachy!

Linda- Glad to hear you got in a successful first post marathon run. Crossing cheetah paws that your DD's condition remains stable!

Jackie- Hope you are getting in a great 7 mile run today... still planning on extending it on the TM? Interesting how 4DS doesn't make you sore... I realized it is the same way with me. The workouts are plenty challenging but I rarely end up with DOMS.

Christine- Like Cathy I'm wondering how your DH is doing?

Carole- Hiya! Posting together this morning! You are up quite early as usual! I bet Beau won't be bothered a bit by the cold weather! Spanky on the other hand..... I'm seriously considering buying her a sweater! Yes, this 4 mile run this morning will bring my mileage for the week to 50! Feeling pretty good about that. A nap later today sounds like a good idea for you. Hope you have fun with the kickboxing!

I think that about catches me up for now. Hope the rest of the cheetahs are starting out their weekend on a positive note!
Heading out now for a 4 mile paced run. Then later it'll be 4DS KB/legs.

Hi Cheetahs!

Cathy: IA with Carole that your knee issue might be ITB related. Yoga and EXT are a good idea today. You are wise, so I am sure you will take care of it properly. :) By the way, thanks! ;)

Jackie: How nice you will have Tuesday off. It is cold here today too. Hope you have a great 7 mile run. :)

Carole: I never used to run to music, but now I am hooked. At least on the treadmill. I don't use it outside. Hope you can squeeze in a nap today. Enjoy your KB workout!

Shelly: You are a painting machine! Would love to see pics of the finished product when you aren't busy. Glad the cold is on the way out.

I have been busy with school things so posting has been on the back burner. I am finally feeling caught up, so hopefully I can be more consistent. Not being consistent actually drives me crazy. :) I ran 6 miles yesterday and will do yoga and run today. Then I am off to my mom's house. Have a great Saturday everyone! :)

Hi Girls!

I just looked at y-day's thread. They merged my two usernames. :) Guess I have to set up an avatar again. I didn't realize it would change all my posts. I thought merging them would get my "Cathlete" status up there with the rest of you. LOL! ;) Guess I still need more posts. :)

Anyway, today is GSL standing and upper body. I may make that a circuit somehow. The alarm went off this am, but didn't feel like getting out of bed to workout. ;)

I have to leave for DD's game, but I'll try and come back for personals. It will be a super cold one! Brrrrr.

Have a great day!

~Dallas

ETA: You all our "Cathletes"! What's Wendy!?! :p I'll never catch her. ha ha

PS - I think my kids are onto my Christmas present hide out...now what!?!!?

Hi Friends-

Yowza! this body has upper body DOMS! Going heavy on PUB was the cause :)

Dallas- I wondered why your name went back your first name. Good luck at soccer and stay warm! I hope your MIL is dong better. I forgot to PM you my email for TNT info. I will do it today.

Cathy- I hope your knee resolves itself quickly. Does the EXT not aggravate it? (Does that make sense?) Ok, so are there any tricks to using the Neti Pot? I detest the feeling of water up my nose.

Christine- Oh dear, Did Ved go to the ED and what ist he cause of his severe pain?

Karen- Good luck at the soccer tournament(s) this weekend.

Shelly- TG your virus is gone! Wow you are up to 50 miles? I will not renew my package when it expires. Is that pretty standard for marathon training? I still haven't chosen a training plan for my March 8 half. OK, I did not realize about the price increase in iTrains. I hope your AZ home sells quickly so you can start planning an anniversary trip!

Carole- This is so exciting that you will be celebrating your 50th Birthday with a marathon and Cheetah friends! I will be thinking of you from the east! I hope you can catch that nap today. PS- Do you have any recommendations for training plans for a half?

Wendy- Good luck in AC. although you probably won't read this until you return.

Jackie- We leave on a 5:30am flight on Monday morning. my LB is much better.:D Now my UB has major DOMS.

Gloria- That caught up feeling is so much better. Enjoy your visit with Mom. You had some nice runs yesterday and today

Linda- TG DD is doing better. How are you feeling one week out from the the marathon? Well it seems the yoga teacher will stay on. And she will try to offer a class or two at a different time to encourage more participation. The problem is that our club is really a private golf club, and the gym part is only a few years old. There have been issues with management from the start.

DD17 is on the couch with a stomach bug. She has a baby sitting job tonight. I need to call the family and cancel. I am sure they do not want a sick babysitter. Ok gotta go maybe BBL.

Hiya Cheetahs!

Dallas – it’s a little tough this time of year to get out and cycle. But it is good cross-training for running. And it’s fun! You have some great trails around there. Once we get a final head count – we’ll figure out how to work it out. If you and Carole are going to Hawaii, then I want to go too!!!

Shelly – IMax 2 and PH is a great mix. I really enjoyed it – the step routine is a great way of getting your body back to cardio and then the blast! Fun! DH has never had any affect of his Hep C – it was found by a routine physical (we have a great GP). He did undergo treatment that was horrible – and it did lower his enzymes a lot, but not “enough” to consider him cured. But he’s never felt anything but fabulous – this is the guy who runs half marathons without training. I think it’s now time to pay the piper, though. I have more below.

Wendy – DH’s kidney’s are clear – I wish it were stones. :p But thank you. I hear kidney stones are as painful as childbirth (or more so, actually). I wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy! Have fun gambline!

Cathy – yes, I’m banning the OD forum for a while. I don’t need that stress. I’m sorry for the way the OD has turned out. Glad you got in a great 5 miler yesterday! I have to agree with nothing making you feel more alive than a good run. :D And I absolutely LOVE running through the mist! It’s like running through a dream! Have fun on the EXT today!

Linda – ohh, hope your DVD does do that! It does make it easier! :p Sounds like you got in a great workout! I’m so glad you’re back to weights! It does feel good, doesn’t it?

Jackie – don’t you hate when work gets in the way of fun?! Yes, I did take DH to the emergency room – I have the results down below. Enjoy your run!

Carole – There are others – but that one’s good and it’s more cost affective. I hope you are sleeping better soon!!

Judy – hope DD17 is feeling better soon? Good job on going heavy on PUB! I’m thinking of pulling out your SS/PP UB Mish Mosh soon! :p

Well, DH does not have gallstones. The ER was not able to find anything obvious, but as I told Shelly, he does have Hepatitis C – which has never really affected him. I think it’s starting to now. Unfortunately, the specialist cannot see him for 2 weeks. So, he has an appointment on Monday with our family doc. It seems to be getting progressively worse. He is having difficult breathing deeply – and got heavily out of breath just from carrying dry cleaning into the house from the car. As he’s always been athletic, it’s hard for him to accept his limitations right now. I hope it’s a flair up and will settle down again soon. I don’t know. I’m worried that he will never be able to do what he used to, and that will be very hard on him.

Anyway, I’m going to do some sort of circuit – not sure what yet. Have a good day all!

Carole - Yeah, when I use my zen, I keep the volume down. Sorry you're feeling tired. This time change has not been a big help this week. I'm still adjusting. Enjoy your KB workout!

Shelly - Glad you got a good night's rest and the cold is gone. The paint colors we thought were cute back in the day! Hope you get it all covered. My old house had all carpet in it and each room was a different color. Even though I chose the colors, eventually I came to hate all the different colors. The way my running partner worked me today, I didn't have a desire to add any extra mileage. Enjoy your run and leg workout.

Gloria - Good job on the 6 miles. Hope you have just as good a run today. Have fun visiting your mom.

Dallas - I had to look at your user name twice to figure out it was you. Enjoy your workout. Good luck to DD today. Hope you stay warm. Kids are too smart. Hope you can find another good hiding place.

Judy - Glad you're getting all the soreness over with before your trip. Hope DD feels better.

Christine - Glad DH doesn't have gallstones. Sorry that Hep C might be having an effect now. Will say a prayer for him to feel better soon. It's terrible that he has to go through the weekend feeling bad.

I had an awesome run today with partner. We got in 7 miles. The wind was high today. He really pushed me again and we ended up doing a 9:40 pace. The first 2 miles was about a 9:00 minute pace. I was huffing and puffing and he was just as relaxed. That's ok because he's helping me a lot. Big difference being outside compared to the treadmill. Think next week we will try for 10 miles and try to keep the same pace. I did come back home and did Yoga Legs by Denise Austin. Oh, yeah, the neighbor's dog ran the entire 7 miles with us. She slowed up traffic. Hate when people think it's my dog. My running partner says he has to have a talk with the owners of the dog because she showed her teeth to his babysitter. It scared her. Think the neighbors should pay more attention to the dog and be more considerate of others.

Need to hop in the shower. Enjoy your day!

Jackie - good job on the run!! Sounds like running with your neighbor will really improve your running! Too bad about the dog. That's not cool at all!!

I ended up doing Rumble - with hand and 2lb ankle weights. That really upped the workout, WOW! I don't recommend it if you have and knee or hip issues, and definitely not more than 2 pounds, but it was a nice workout. I'm pleasantly fried through the lats, core and hip flexors (in a good way!). I finished it up with the flexibility section of The Athletes Guide to Yoga - http://www.eliteracingstores.com/tri08-0920.html . I got this on recommendation from some of my cycling buddies and I have to say - WOW! It had a ton of various sequences and a section where you can pick the sequences you want and it will just play them - for example if you've been running - you can play the IT Band Sequence, then the Hamstring Strap series, then the Moon Salutations, and the pigeon series and get a fabulous lower body stretch. She's soothing and not Woo Woo - which I cannot stand. Just really nice stretches. I really recommend this one.

Afternoon, cheetahs!

We are still under dark cloud cover here in Jersey, so even though it’s only 2:30, it feels much later. Perfect day for cleaning and lesson plans. J Soon, I’ll knock out my workout and then settle in with a new book.

Jackie—I definitely won’t renew iTrain at the new rates. I did hear grandma was coming to 1600 Pennsylvania. I heard, too, that the fam would prefer to adopt from a shelter, if possible, which I think is wonderful. I am just so filled with hope and optimism these past few days, and idn’t it great NOT to hear the onslaught of campaign ads? So, are you all geared up for the Veterans’ Day sales?...great speedy run today—and in high winds no less!! Agree with you re: these dog owners. Good your neighbor is going to address it.

Carole—I think you may be right—it could be an ITB thing. I will make sure I stretch the area well and ice later on. I do the same with my earbuds—only one ear. But I have struck out with the headphones lately. I was very happy with my Sennheisers—they are one of the few that stayed in my ear with no problem. Only lasted about a year, though, and they were not cheap. So this summer, I bought a cheaper Nike set from Target, but they don’t always work. Then I picked up a JVC Marshmallow set, and I swear, it must be made for a child, the wires are so short. I usually drop the wire down the back of my shirt, and it just doesn’t work this way. I think I am going to go back to the Sennheisers because they are the only ones that don’t drive me bonkers! J Hope you can get in a nice, refreshing nap to make up for those lost zzz’s.

Shelly—peach and mint green. *chuckles* Never know what surprises you will have for us next. J Thanks for the suggestions re: the knee. I did foam roll and massage with the tennis ball yesterday. I know I will get it control. Awesome, awesome mileage! Enjoy hammering the legs.

Gloria—you’re so welcome. J Thanks for weighing in on the knee/ITB issue. I think you guys are right—that may be it. I thought trigger points somewhere in the muscle might be doing it. Glad you are caught up now. Know that feeling of relief!

Dallas—got thrown for a loop there with your new name. Hope it wasn’t too cold for you out there in the cheering section. How’d they do? Can you keep the gifts at MILs?

Judy—I “feel” the knee even when I’m walking, but it’s most pronounced when running. There is no real trick that I know of with the neti pot. It’s sort of like contact lenses—you have to be patient and keep trying. It took me a few tries, but then I got used to that feeling. Glad to hear you won’t be losing your yoga teacher. Healing vibes to DD.

Christine—I really hope the family doc can provide some relief before the appointment with the specialist. Hoping for the best and sending up some prayers that it’s only a flare-up that will soon pass…Yeah, you’re right—the mist does make you feel like you’re running in a dream. J…Good thinkin’ re: the OD. Believe I’ll join you. Hope you had a great, stress-bustin’ circuit!

Hello Ladies!

I'm trying to keep you on your toes re: the username!!! Can you tell I like change! ;) I didn't realize my old one was still out there. I thought they deleted it. Anyway...I ended up doing the EXT, GSL standing, and C&W upper weights only as a circuit. That was a good way of fusing Sat and Sun's workouts from the rotation. I started w/a 10 min w/u on the EXT, GSL squats and front lunges, C&W shoulders, repeat until all weight work was done. That was about 75 minutes w/the stretch. I can feel my hamstrings now. :) You know I felt my hip a little on the deadlifts (the 2nd version)...hmmm. I'll be sure to foam roll before the day is through. I never got to those hip ecises y-day.

Cathy ~ Dh and I decided it was too cold for the boys...and me. ;) The wind was really whipping around out there and there was a slight drizzle, so we stayed home. One more game tomorrow for each kid and we're done. :) They both finished in 2nd place. You know I just might take everything over there. usually she has the kids over for sleep overs during the holidays, but not this year. What book are you reading? Oh no, your knee is giving you trouble? Maybe it's the colder weather making us hurt!?! ;) Sounds like you're doing the right things for your knee. re: GA - Grey's Anatomy.

Christine ~ I was thinking all that bag kicking may have aggravated my hip??? Also, I thought about they way the road banks in my subdivision may have caused some trouble there too. I'll be sure to check out that yoga. Thanks! Re: Rumble I really enjoy that workout. :) Where does your friend run/ride? I found some good places to run because of TNT. I'm still nervous to go by myself though. I'll keep your dh in my prayers. Keep us posted. Oh, no big deal about the condo...a hotel will work fine too. :) I'd love to go to Hawaii!! :)

Judy ~ I'll send the info to you. My mil is doing great! :) She's just worried about Christmas, but I keep telling her we will help her. I also told her that her gift is her health...the kids miss their grandma. :( Enjoy that DOMS. I guess I went easy on myself, but I did do only the "up premix". ;) Hope your DD feels better. I wonder if it's like the one I had last week...blah!

Gloria ~ I'm a routine person too, and this school year it's been hard to get into a groove. WTG on the 6 miles. Enjoy your visit with your mom. :)

Shelly ~ Glad the bug is gone! You sure are getting alot done over there. What's the new color palette going to be? I read what you wrote to Cathy. That makes me feel better. I'll keep it low impact to for a bit longer. I had some theories I posted to Christine ^^^, however, I did injure this area....a long time ago. Hmmm. enjoy that 4 mile run and 4D KB/leg. Really, no DOMS with that series??!? WOW! I must get DOMS just thinking about lifting. LOL No, I'm a cheerleader for Napa. I really thought about that one too. There's so many reasons, but another one I just thought of is I don't care to train through a Chicago winter! Now that the cold temps are here....BRRRR! Will you be running? :)

Carole ~ Oh, Hawaii would be divine!!! :) Thanks for explaining the ecises. Never did get to them y-day. Hope you get that nap and kbox in today.

Jackie ~ WTG on your 7 mile run!!! :) That really is something about the neighbors dog. What if something happened? Don't they care?

Linda ~ Glad the legs are feeling good. Nice - combining two BBC upper weights y-day. How's your DD?

Now to fix up this profile a bit. :)

~Dallas

Hey there!

Christine - I hope your DH's problem is just a quick flare up and gets better soon. Your Rumble with the weights sounded tough! I used to use gloved weights for kick box workouts, lol, but my gosh! I haven't done KB in soooo long! The ankle weights would make a nice addition, as well! Good job! Yes, the weights felt really good! :)

Cathy - It rained here last night. Today was really cloudy, dark, cool and windy! It was so dark that it felt like winter! I would love to run a misty run like you had the other day! Hmmm....I hope your knee straightens up! Good call to do the elliptical instead of a run!

Jackie - It sounds like you had a great run! Too bad about the dog, though! Especially since it is causing problems with the traffic, etc! Hope it doesn't bite anyone!

Judy - That is great that your instructor will be staying! It would be nice to have a small class like that. It seems it would be more comfortable and you would get more one on one! I am feeling pretty good a week after the marathon (knock on wood!). I just can't believe it is over with!

Dallas - LOL....yes, your new screen name really threw me! I was trying hard to figure out who it was at first! :) I see you are a "CAthlete" :) Hmmm...maybe you could find another place to hide the presents? Kids are too smart for their own good!

Gloria - Great job on the run and yoga! I definitely can relate to it being hard to post! We all understand! We have all had crazy periods when it is next to impossible to post! Post when you can, though! Miss ya when you are gone a few days, but do understand :)

Shelly - I remember a period in the 80's when there was a "lot" of peach and mint green combos! I used to love it! :) Glad you got some much needed sleep last night! It makes it rough when you can't take off time from work when you need it! At least you will build it back up soon! Enjoy your run and 4DS KB!

Carole - I hope you got the chance to get a nap! Hope you enjoyed your KB workout! I really did enjoy getting back into BBC! :)

This morning I ran 4 miles and did BBC C&As. It felt really good. It was really chilly and windy outside, though!

We went to dinner with my pregnant DD and her DH. Had a good evening. I got a good nap in today! :)

Hey to everyone!

It has taken me all day long to get this posted! :) Have a good night everyone!'

Dallas - My DD is actually feeling really good today! :) She looks adorable! :) THat sounds like and awesome workout you did!
