•• CHEETAHS •• Short Week (yay!) Tuesday

RunninTeach

Cathlete
Good morning, everyone!

Night two of insomnia here...but I'll take advantage of the time to catch up with my cheetahs:
:)

Brighton—great to hear that easing back into your running has been working for ya and that all is well on the homefront. Thanks re: NBs!

Posh—I hear you on the instructors that yack just a biiiit too much. Good point about the Garmin discrepancies. Come sub for me? Sure! You will love little Aiight. *lol*

Shelly—*lol* Only you would bust out BM2 Boot Camp after running 26.2. :D I seriously think you oughta consider an ultra. It’s so YOU!...My headache is quite mild at this point, so it’s more or less back to good now…It’s funny you say that b/c the NB work is really what led me to pursue the marathon sooner rather than later. As I explained to people who asked, National Boards is essentially the marathon of teaching, a real test of endurance, and talking about it like that put the seed in my head to go ahead & conquer the distance. I’m not sure I could say which one is harder. But I’m grateful for what both have taught me.

Jackie—yeah, it’s a bummer that they happen more frequently now, but I know that some people get them far worse, or theirs last for a week! Usually in two days, I am back to a good place. Ann Taylor on the chopping block??? HORRORS! I hope not! Great workout, as usual.

Christine—oh my goodness! How awful about Jimmy getting attacked. I’m glad he’s relatively fine, if just a little scratched and shaken. Almost think folks should have to take a test or mandatory training before being allowed to have a pet.

Carole—American Gangster *is* long. Still missed the beginning. I could not believe that Richie later became a defense attorney and represented Lucas!! Would like to read up some more on the case. Congratulations on completing the packing. It’s good to be done, but as Christine said, probably also bittersweet. Guess it ‘tis the season to be more patient with those who try our nerves, huh? Awesome 18 after the stair workout!

Linda—I think the stress from the week surely brought it on. Hear, hear on the short week!

Judy—sounds like you are making good progress with all that you have going on.

Wendy—sorry to hear your computer bit the dust but glad you are back in action & happy again. I have Vista on the laptop I bought last spring and have been quite pleased. No issues here. That B&G premix is wicked in the worst way. As of yesterday, I still had some faint DOMS.

Hi to Gloria, Dallas, Wendi, Karen, and anyone else I'm inadvertently missing.

We have a full afternoon of conferences again but not quite as late, so this evening, I look forward to the TM/EXT/k'box circuit I'd intended to do on Sunday instead of the yoga that's on the rotation for today.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Tuesday!

Good Morning Peeps. :D

I'm up early hoping to bang out atleast part of my work out before work today.

Cathy: Glad Vista has worked well for you. I can't vouch for what I was told about it. TBH, I don't know much about computers so I wonder if I'd even recognize what people say stinks about it anyway. LOL Perhpas it depends on the computer system? Maybe it works better with some then others?? IDK...just guessing here. :) So where will you be spending your Thanksgiving holiday? Will you meet your goal of being done with your Christmas shopping by Black Friday? Will you be doing any pre-dawn shopping that day? I know you usually do.

Brighton: Woo hoo! WTG on the successful outdoor run on that foot. Sounds like you are well on your way to being 100%! Happy to hear your DD is sleeping better. My son has been a good sleeper since he was 3 months old. I can't complain. He's also an excellent napper most of the time. Gotta love it! :D

Okay, DH just left for work! That's my cue to get my butt in gear and start my work out!

BBL loverlies!:)

Good mornng Cheetah babes!

Cathy - Uggh, so sorry to hear that you got hit with a migraine (*and* insomnia), especially since this weekend should have been one of total bliss:confused:. I hope you enjoy your short work week:D!

MIA Cheetah reporting for duty:eek::(! To quote Cathy, I've "been crazy busy" getting the house ready for mom and grandma, hair appt yesterday, had to test-cook a bit for T-day dinner since we aren't doing turkey (neither myself or DSO care for it unless it's ground). I'm pleased to say both experiments were amazing!!! We'll be having lobster cocktail (in lieu of shrimp cocktail which is a staple for our family for T-day) for an app, Chicken Cordon Bleu (Tyler Florence's version with gruyere and prosciutto), a wild and brown rice side with dried cranberries, pecans and a touch of orange, a nice salad and some kind of green veggie. The jury is still out on what the veggie will be but that's an easy thing to throw together:).

Yesterday was the first time I was able to get a workout in in about a week and had a blast with Gauntlet. This morning will be HIS/LIS cardios...was hoping for a run but it's raining a bit too hard here for that. Will be hitting the cardio HARD for a few days here to try to curb the appetite (have to avoid the weights for a bit:confused:) and maybe get a couple of pounds off before that big Sweet 16 party Dec 6. Decided on a brown cocktail dress (halter top) that I've had. gold strappy *high* heels:D, gold clutch. Not sure what to do with my hair just yet but my, *ahem*, stylist offered to do it for me at his house that Saturday night since he doesn't work weekends. Now, that's an extremely nice offer and I'd love to take him up on that but I think there's a slightly alterior motive...he gave me his home number;).

Anyhoo, gotta get going on the workout. I hope to catch up with personals ASAP...I miss you guys! Have a great one if I don't get back here before heading to work!

Hi there Wendy! You snuck in on me there! Sorry to hear your 'puter when pbbbfft:(! I'm afraid this one is going to do the same real soon. I'll be hoping to catch a really good Black Friday deal on a new laptop. I've already decided I'll probably dump Vista and have XP loaded on the new one, though. My mother does a lot of IT work as part of her job and she says that her company tells all new transcriptionists to dump Vista and swap with XP. I guess it all depends on how important compatibility is to ya *shrugs*? I don't know *that* much about 'em so I bow to her wisdom in these matters:). Enjoy your workout!

Wendy—I’ve heard some people prefer XP. Doesn’t really matter to me. *shrugs* :) Just sayin’ Vista has been fine for me. No compatibility problems at all. I don’t usually finish on Black Friday itself (I’m not an all-day shopper) but by the end of the weekend. (As you know, I don’t make any forays to the stores after early December. :) ) Not sure if I will be heading out for any early morning bargains, though. Depends on what the ads have to offer. My parents have the tradition of hosting T’giving. What about you? Are you making progress with your shopping list? Will you be heading to your mom’s? Enjoy your workout.

Wendi—sounds like a delicious and varied menu. I'm sure your guests will savor your culinary talents! :) Enjoy HIS /LIS. Actually, there is positively NO UGH factor for me whatsoever. I was—and still am—totally blissed out! :D Have a great day!

G'Day Cheetahs!

This is silly, but I feel so relieved. Oldest DSis in CA sent an email out saying they are scaling back and will not be sending Godchildren gifts and do not expert any. I agreed and sent the same email to all our God Children and our Childrens' Godparents. All my 'Godchildren' are over 21. This is a relief in the shopping department.

Christine- No thanks to those insensitive dog owners Jimmy is ok. Geesh! How can people be so mean? I am sorry Jimmy and you had to experiences such a thing.

Wendi- Your Thanksgiving Dinner sounds delicioso! I suggested we do our Shrimp at the table as a first course, and DD wants to do it out with the casual appetizers. But I explained that we spend almost no time at the table, and that is where the good conversation develops. So the shrimp will be a first course.

Cathy - Insmonia again? :(I am sorry. I hope your last night of conferences goes off without a hitch, and you can truly enjoy your workout.

Shelly - Thanks for the pep talk. You are right. Once I get out the door I actually like the cold weather runs after about 2 miles. Yesterday was 8.5. How did you feel doing BM2 premix only one day after 26.2? At least you were not cold! Are you off or working on Thanksgiving?

Jackie- I inquired about our Ann Taylor and it is NOT one of the ones going out of business. The 7 miler was actually 8.5 :pand it felt good during the run, but the nagging PF:mad: symptoms returned for the rest of the day. I am rolling right now.

Posh- Quorn turkey alternative? I would like a report on how it tasted. My vegetarian plan is to just eat the non meat selections. I do like seafood and we will start with shrimp cocktail so I should be fine. so when will you DD again? Are you hosting the big dinner on Thursday?

Shoot I am out of time, GTG friends

Oh quickly... I am doing a easy paced 3 miler and maybe upper body or legs. The opposite will be done tomorrow with yoga.

Hi Cheetahs!

I feel horrible that I couldn't get here any sooner. Shelly way to go on PR'ing in those temps!!! Soft pretzels and Starbucks was nice! :) I can't believe you worked out the next day!!! Yep, "Crazy Cheetah" is appropriate.:p

I was having Internet trouble and the kids are off the whole week. Had my first parent/teacher conference y-day, and have two more today. We're having a heck of a time w/family members & their health. I won't even go into it, but I got two calls back-to-back to start my day y-day. :( They're both in the hospital.:(

I do hope to get back later for personals, but I'm sure it will be much later. Better get the workout started before the kids wake up.

Hiya Cheetahs!

Linda – People just never fail to amaze me. Fortunately, most of the dogs on the trail are well behaved, but it just takes one to ruin it for everyone!

Jackie – Oh, good workout as usual! I like 4DS B&C, although there are a few too many push ups for me. :p I don’t understand why people have dogs if they don’t properly socialize and train them.

Shelly – I cannot believe you managed BM2 Boot Camp after a marathon! You certainly are made of iron!! Oh yeah – the shower after a workout like that is one of the best feelings in a world! Thanks about Jimmy!

Wendy – oh yeah – people can be idiots! Good thing is the idiots tend to be the minority! I, too, am very leery of any dog I don’t know. I’ve been bitten, so I’m more likely to err on the side of caution.

Posh – did you manage to handle grace? Nice of DD18 to stop by! You must train your kids right if she is looking for work for extra cash! Good job, mom! Thanks for the support Sunday night and allowing me to vent! :)

Brighton – Oh I love the Rockies! Enjoy! I used to mountain bike all the time. There are some great trails that are not too technical and those are a joy to ride. Nothing quite like a fast singletrack on a MTB to really get the heart rate up, but I do love my road bike too. Which Treks did you get? I love Trek bikes. I want to do the Tahoe Century – which is a ride around Tahoe. I wouldn’t mind the climb up to Emerald Bay, but that drop off is scary – even in a car!

Cathy – Oh, I’m sorry you have insomnia!! That’s no fun! ITA that people should have a test and training before having pets (or kids for that matter). Hope the migraine goes away completely! Have fun with your circuit today! I shop on line – to avoid the lines – and now most places are offering free shipping and 20% off! YEAH!

Wendi – I’m on my way for Thanksgiving dinner. I’ll be there by 5 – is that okay? :D Sounds delicious!! Enjoy it!

Judy – I can imagine that would be a relief. It’s a tough year! I don’t think the people were mean on purpose but I seriously think they just don’t understand the consequences. Oh well. Enjoy your run!

Dallas – hope the computer issues are gone! I hope your family members are recovering! Prayers to you and yours.

I think I’m feeling a little better. I will go to work, I believe. I’ll probably take another rest day as I’m not feeling quite up to a workout yet, but we’ll see how I feel in a hour or so. Jimmy is doing well, thank you for all of the well wishes for the goofy dog!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy..so sorry about the insomnia. I might have some soon...:)..I hope you can see the beginning of American Gangster, it was amazing about Richie becoming the defense attorney. Thanks re: the packing and 18 miler. It has been bittersweet through all the packing as I said to Christine that it is both of my parents stuff. Glad you won't be at work so late today.

Wendy..good workout yesterday. Good luck on getting those "Big Guns" with your pre summer rotation...:)

Wendi...looks like a very tasty Thanksgiving dinner planned. Your stylist gave you his home #??...WOW...So who's Sweet 16?

Dallas...sounds like a busy week for you...:)

Posh...glad you got to spend a little time with DD18! I didn't figure the BOYS would have trouble against the Whiners!!! What amazed me to no end was the Raiders beating their rival the Broncos and IN Denver!!! OMG!!! I am making tofurky from scratch for Thanksgiving. I have had the Quorn Roast and it is tasty...:)..thanks re: my 18 miles. I got your PM...:(

Christine...That sucks about Jimmy getting attacked!!! I cannot beleive idiots would have a dog not on a leash!!! WTF!!!
dontknow.gif
I am glad you gave those people a piece of your mind. These things so frustrate me. So happy Jimmy was not injured badly and came back up the steep hill. Hope you enjoyed your rest day yesterday. Yeah, ridiculous on the Pilates chair. It was bittersweet packing...as we are packing both Mom & Dad's stuff.

Jackie..the Garage sale will be this weekend. Karen and I will try and get things organized Friday for the sale Sat/Sun. Thanks re: the 18 miles. Mom is improving and using her walker more. She has therapy twice a week at my sister's house. I have had some clients for more than 15 years so accommodating them is never a problem during the holidays. Good job with iTread and the 4DS workout.

Shelly...WOW, BM2 BC the day after a marathon???
pray.gif
I know how it feels to crack a time barrier in a marathon and you did so great!!! I am sure I wouldn't like having to watch the half marathoners finish either. That 6.5 mile upgrade would be very tough at that time. As for feeling worse than you have in the previous marathons towards the end, every marathon is different. After reading what you wrote to Linda, I am wondering if more gel might have helped there? Even with the Gatorade, 2 gels might have not been enough. Just a thought...:)...I am sure eventually PITA will get hers from me! There is more to the story that I do not feel comfortable posting online.

Brighton...way to go getting back into the running pain free!! Glad the kids are doing well.

Today I am doing my own legwork S&H style and then 40 min on my EXT.

Have a great day...:)

Good morning! Yes!!!! (on the short week!!!)

Jackie – Your race is coming up soon, huh? Are you getting excited? That is a good idea to take the day after Thanksgiving off!

Shelly – I am going to ask more questions ..I am sorry….. is the Cliff Bars that you eat the full size “regular-type” Cliff Bars? Wow! I’ll bet that was no fun to skate over the frozen Gatorade! That could have been bad! Uh! I don’t think I could have handled the smell of the beer during a marathon, either! Great job on the BM2 Bootcamp! Can’t believe you worked out the day after your marathon!!! Iron Cheetah, for real! :) For some reason, when it comes to longer than 15 miles, I can’t do Gatorade. I get nauseous. The Gu2o worked really well. It is a lot less “syrupy” (I don’t know how else to describe it). I ordered PowerBar Endurance for my next bout of training. It is “lighter and less sweet, also). But it has a lot more sodium, carbs, etc. I am anxious to try it. It may be better on your stomach, also??

Wendy – I am glad you enjoyed the leg rotation! I want to start working my legs more often again….but now…I am getting anxious to start building my mileage again! I can’t wait to run another marathon! Did you decide on which marathon you want to do, yet? The weekend was wonderful! It was so beautiful there. But it was sooo cold! In the mornings it was 14 degrees. It would have been a wonderful place to get out and run, but I planned it so I could take the day off.

Posh – I love GS legs! It has a wonderful floorwork section. The floorwork is done with the band, so it is different than her other workouts. The standing section is basically like the others with lunges, squats, step-ups, deadlifts, etc. She uses the band for the step-ups. I really like it a lot! Regarding the CW-X tights….you could wear shorts or a running skirt over them. I wore my running skirt over mine the other day! And besides, you would look just fine in them! Silly Cheetah! ;) LOL….awww! I miss the Walton’s!!

Brighton – Great workout you did yesterday!! Rockies? Hey, where do you live?? I love the Rockies!!!

Cathy – I am glad the headache is “milder”. Hope it goes away soon! Also sorry about the insomnia! I agree with you on Shelly and the ultra! Can you believe our Iron Cheetah did that workout right after a marathon!!!! Wow!

Wendi – Yummy! Can I come and eat TG dinner with you? ;) Glad you had a good time with the Gauntlet! Enjoy your workout today!

Judy – Enjoy your 3 miler and upper or lower! I have been trying to figure out how we can scale back this year. It seems as if things have just gotten out of control as far as holiday spending goes over the years. I honestly wish we could go back to the way things used to be and enjoy family, friends, etc!

Dallas – Hey there girly!! Hope things calm down for you soon!

Christine – Hope you feel better soon! Good idea to take another rest day!

Carole – Enjoy your EXT and legwork!

Last night I ran six miles and did GS C&T, and the abs from Firm Vol. I. I have a confession, though….I did NOT do the triceps dips or all of the pushups!! And the video police did not come and get me!!! ;)

Hey to everyone! Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning Cheetahs!

Shelly - Glad you're feeling good after that awesome marathon run! Wow, never thought about the spilled water freezing during your race. Something to think about. It's not a good feeling running while queasy. But, you braved it all and came back home with a PR! My day is Dec. 6. RP asked me if I thought I could run the half in 2 hours or less. Told him I could try. If I feel like it's pushing me too hard, then I'll just ease off a little. Will see how it goes.

Wendy - When I got to DBF Saturday, he had built a nice fire and was watching movies. I kindly parked myself beside him. And, that's where we stayed the rest of the evening. We thought about going to the movies but we were so comfy we nixed the idea. Made some popcorn and that was that. This was a good time to invest in a new computer. I see lots of sales for Friday. Couldn't have you going through withdrawals. :D Enjoy it.

Posh - You mean you don't just love Grace being right there with you? I'm so used to her now that she doesn't bother me a bit. Smart of DD to look for a job. Nothing like having your own $$$ to spend. Gonna love this long weekend.

Brighton - Great job on the outside run! Hope you enjoyed your date with DH. How was the play?

Cathy - That nasty old insomnia needs to give you a break. My sis is one of those that suffers from a week long migraine when she gets one. Heard that Ann Taylor was closing some stores. And, there's an email floating around out there that makes it sound like it just started happening. Hope you have a nice workout.

Wendi - Your mom and grandma make a cleaning demon out of you, don't they? :D TG dinner sounds yummy and light. Glad you were able to sneak in a workout. You're going to be absolutely stunning for that sweet 16 party.

Judy - Good news for you on scaling back on the gifts. I'm trying to cut where I can this year too. Glad your Ann Taylor is safe. Good job on the 8.5 miles! Hope the PF is gone. It would be nice to run with no aches or pains. A girl can wish. Enjoy your run and weight workout.

Dallas - How did the conferences go? So sorry to hear your loved ones are in the hospital. Hope they're home soon. ((((HUGS & PRAYERS)))) for you.

Christine - You're right about there being too many push ups in 4DS. Think Cathe loves to punish us sometimes. :D Hope you're feeling 100% tomorrow. Glad Jimmy is doing well.

Carole - Ok, how do you make tofurkey from scratch. You know I had to ask. :p Good luck with the garage sale. Hope you have beautiful weather and lots of buyers. :D Glad to hear your mom is improving. My hairdresser came in early this morning to do my hair. I was out in less than an hour. I like that. Enjoy your workout.

Linda - I am getting excited about my race especially since my running partner will be there with me. We scheduled a run for Thursday morning too. Get a head start on TG dinner. Good job on the 6 miles! Now we all know we're safe from the video police. :D That was too cute.

I did iTread #13 40 minutes until I got in 3.2 miles and 4DS Shoulders & Calves. Added a little extra stretching. Haven't worked my calves in a while. Wonder if they will be sore tomorrow.

Gotta go. Have a terrific day!

Hello Cheetahs!

Since I’m home today, figured I get going on that “clean Max” DVD…lol. Then I guess I’ll do my run on the dreadmill again today, since I ‘m being conservative, and not driving anywhere if I absolutely don’t have to. Tomorrow I have to drive 50 miles to pick up my packet for the Run to Feed the Hungry 10K on Thursday, so I’m gonna make a stop at the Whole Foods in Roseville on the way back up the hill. Nothing like fresh produce for my Thanksgiving “salad bar”…lol.

Brighton –LOL re: “Haaaaaaven”. That movie is similar to High Society. I have lots of favs from back in the day. I REALLY like Rita Hayworth, oh and Cyd Charisse – that girl could dance! Hey, I also noticed you’re a Giada fan too. Well, Food Network is da bomb…food porn! LOL You’re really playing it smart with your injury! Tahoe? that’s just up the road a piece from me (bout 40 mins). Beautiful lake!

Cathy – LOL – yeeeeeaah, me and lil’ Aiight would get along wonderfully! LOL. Hey, did you get that book order yet? Bet you can’t wait, huh? I used to get excited when the kids would get book gift cards for Christmas (better than candy!). Then we would go shopping for the books and I’d get all excited checking out what the kids were picking out. We used to go on library runs too, especially for over long school breaks. I strongly believe the introduction of books and reading at an early age have helped my kids do so well in school through the years. WEeell, that’s enough shop talk, eh? LOL Glad the headache is subsiding and you can look forward to that circuit…heeheheheheheheee.

Wendy – Sounds like a smart buy on the computer. I have a Dell laptop and really like it. I got a steal on it online from Dell. They always have huge sales, especially around the holidays. Hope you were able to get in that workout.

Wendi – WOW, that Thanksgiving feast sounds divine for ya’ll. I remember one year we did a Mexican fiesta meal with the group – was good! Why do you have to avoid the weights? did I miss something with an injury?

Judy – I’ve had the Quorn Turkey alternative before. I use the method of roasting in a bag (printed on box) with olive oil, rosemary, thyme, sage etc. I’m also preparing the Fruit and Nut Stuffing printed on the box as well for me. I will not be hosting the dinner on Thursday, however, I will be hosting a huge feast on Christmas Day. We’re headed down to my BIL/SIL’s house and I have been “assigned” the salad. I’m going to bring the fixings in a lazy susan style for a mini salad bar. Going to make my homemade balsamic vinaigrette and then probably some Ranch dressing to bring along.

Hey Dallas! - Yeah, you’re a busy Cheetah! whew! Sorry to hear about your family members – hope all goes well.

Christine – Lol re: training my kids. Just so happens DD18 has always been a “go getter” but it does help to tell them that if they want to drive, then they’ll have to pay their part of insurance. Of course now, since she’s at the semester school, I’ve been paying her insurance…lol. They love the extra $$ for In and Out Burger anyway… Awe, of course we’re gonna wish ol’ goofy Jimdog the besteeetsst. Glad you’re feeling better…

Carole – Yeah, I was pretty shocked on the Broncos/Raiders outcome. Guess I can’t razz my BIL on Thursday then…lol. He’s a die-hard Raiders fan and I used to give him grief whenever Denver spanked Oakland. Yeah, I’m curious too, how DO you make Tofurky from scratch?

Linda – I’m busting up over here re: the video police! Hey, if they were that diligent then I’d be a repeat offender on a steady basis! I leave out stuff a lot in some Dvds. For one, I really suck at those pike things on a ball, so I have to sub something else for it or just hit the ol’ FF button. Trust me, ask my poor dog, it is an absolute disaster and comical show whenever I try the pikes…lol. Thanks for the info on GS legs. I know I should NOT buy it though, since STS is coming and I do have a zillion other Cathe dvds. Um, yeah, don’t think a skirt over the tights would do any justice for me…lol. Mainly it is my thick middle me thinks that would be the most ridiculous looking in them. I have some plain black Capri type tights I use but make sure my shirt is long enough to cover the flubber blubber :p …lol

Jackie – Yeah, sometimes, not all, but some of the itreads Grace over does the yabbering and it annoys me. Perhaps it is mostly her voice – I dunno, hard to pin point with ADD types like me. Sometimes I have let her annoy me to the point of clicking from the workout to my regular iPod music and finishing up without her. LOL. I think you can run the half in 2 hours or less, but you’re smart to wait and see how you feel about pushing during the race. You’ll do great though!

Ok, time for me to Bust A Move…lol. Have a great day, ya’ll!

POSH

Hi Girls.

Well I got in most of B&G Overall Legs this morning. I had to stop after the inner thigh work. I had every intention of completing the work out this afternoon but the crud came back so I ended up napping the afternoon away instead. :(

Tomorrow calls for upper body. I suppose I can tack on the last of today's work out to that if I feel good enough to work out AND have the time. If not, I'm not sweatin' it. I'm sure to have DOMS tmrw despite skipping the last 10 minutes of the work out!:D

Well, I haven't done a darned thing around this house today and it's painfully apparent. I should probably log off and get busy while the positive affects of the nap are still holding....

I'll try to get back here to do personals a little later.

Hugs to all!:)

Hi Cheetahs!

Been MIA due to report card week. Thankfully they are done. I also drove my mom down to the airport after school and just got home. My aunt is flying her down to Maryland so they can spend Thanksgiving together. :) The weather was fine until about 25 miles from home. My hands and upper back are sore from squeezing on to the steering wheel so hard due to some white out conditions. I guess you could say I was doing isometrics. :) Workouts have been sparse this week. Hoping for a run in the morning.

I'm doing well and hope all is well with you ladies since I haven't had time to read the thread. :)

I will post personals ASAP. :)
