    I hope this isn't premature . . .

Cathe, I must chime in here too! I think Low Max is one of the most innovative advanced step videos that I have ever done. I generally wear knee braces to do your step workouts and it was such a relief to put them aside but still get a fantastic, fun workout. I loved the step routines, the...

    Egg Whites vs. Egg Beaters

LOL, I buy Egg Beaters (or the less expensive ReddiEgg) primarily for looks! I just can't stand the way egg whites look when they're cooked up... :D

Seasonal Affective Disorder & Light Therapy

Hi Frances, I also get the winter blues if I don't get enough light (which can be difficult at times living up in the Pacific Northwest). As somebody who has studied lighting design, however, I can tell you that studies have proven full spectrum lamps do not help any more than regular...

Severe Lactose Intolerance-help for a friend

Hi Lynn! Yep, I'm the one with the scary dairy protein allergy and I'm happy to help your friend out in any way that I can! I've been dealing with this for almost nine years now so I have plenty of advice. It does sound like she may not have lactose intolerance but a true dairy protein...

What is your one guilty pleasure?

GREAT thread!!!! My guilty pleasure is a glass of wine or beer with dinner. That and watching Murder She Wrote reruns over and over... Geez, seeing it in print makes it sound quite tame!!

    Wearing spandex? A personal question...

Well, it looks like my problem has been solved! My favorite fitness wear company, Fit Couture, has just released a new short. They're the perfect shape and fabric for my rowing classes (which I am LOVING, btw) and they look like I'll be able to wear seamless undies underneath. It's like the nice...

    Wearing spandex? A personal question...

Thank you SO much for all of the help! I'm a cotton-undies-under-everything kind of gal so going commando (especially in a public workout situation) falls out of my comfort zone. I was afraid that was going to be the answer... Thank you for the rowing-specific tips, Clare! I suspected that a...

    Wearing spandex? A personal question...

Hi guys! I'm in desperate need of a bit of advice. I started an adult rowing class today and we're required to wear spandex shorts for future sessions (which makes a lot of sense, loose shorts can get stuck in the seat and cause all sorts of havoc). I am not at all comfortable wearing tight...

    Fall Cathe Visit?

I seem to remember that there was a fall Cathe visit in the works here at Cathe.com. Is there any news about it? Or could somebody tell me who I should contact for more information? Thanks so much! Cheers, Dorie

    cathe- premixes

I love the premixes and often do them instead of the workout as filmed (especially with workouts like the Pyramids). I enjoy being able to add on portions to workouts or have a shorter workout day. Please bring them back for this next series! Cheers, Dorie

Cathe: When does HardCore presale begin?

OT/ What do you coffee drinkers put in your coffee??

Vanilla soy milk! Up here in Seattle drinking coffee is NOT an option and when I need a low-fat, sweet and healthy pick-me-up, I just reach for my trusty soy. The vanilla gives it a subtle flavor and I feel no guilt about adding a lot because it's good for me!

    OT: Free cosmetics

Oh, Pinky, I'm TOTALLY in the same boat as far as oily skin. I've found that the only foundation that doesn't melt off my face within about two hours is Illuminare Ultimate All-Day. I used to use Colorstay but even it pales in comparison when it comes to staying power. I also like that...

    Slow Cooking Oatmeal

My husband is from Ireland and when his father was visiting us, he would put his oatmeal (steel-cut) and raisins in a bowl of water to soak every night. That way, they cook very quickly the next morning...

What to do with used shoes?? Help!

RE: Nike Reuse a shoe. Hey, that's a very cool program! They turn the shoes into sports surfaces for schools and community centers. They do have several drop off locations here in Washington State, so I will definitely take my most worn out shoes there. Thank you!! I'm surprised more of the big...

What to do with used shoes?? Help!

Thank you so much for your answers!! And, you know, this got me thinking that there must be an organization somewhere that collects usable fitness shoes and distributes them to women in need. Kind of like the Career Closets for underpriveledged women who want interview wear. With obesity being...

What to do with used shoes?? Help!

What in the world do you guys do with your used workout shoes?? I now have three or four pairs of perfectly lovely Rykas that I cannot use for workouts any more because they make my knees ache. They look pristine because I never go outside in them (I have sneakers designated for outside wear...

    Soy milk and yogurt

If you are planning on going vegan, be sure to watch out for hidden dairy in non-dairy products. Every faux cheese I've ever found contains casein, a milk-derived protein (I say faux cheese because they come in soy, almond and veg varieties). Many soy yogurts contain lactic acid, which can be...
