What scenes from movies or TV always make you cry?

The part of "Schindler's List" when Schindler is fleeing the factory before the advancing Allied armies arrive, and he says goodbye to Stein. The very end of "Dangerous Liaisons" when Glenn Close contemplates the disaster she's wrought.

Moves you don't look graceful doing

Floor cardio is my downfall. I'm not good with complex step choreography, but I can "save" a disastrous combination by doing basic step until Cathe and I are on the same foot, or at least on the same side of the step.;-) FLOOR cardio, on the other hand...the two minutes of hi-lo in CTX...

    Do you feel the burn!?!?!

PUB biceps are a killer, as is the stability ball ab work AFTER all that upper-body work. I do abs after the warmup, then the workout; otherwise, I have trouble holding myself in plank for my feeble attempts at pikes. The floor leg work in Pure Strength Legs also leaves me gasping - I canNOT...

Taking a walk down Cathe Memory-Lane

My first Cathe purchase was a two-pack from Collage Video of MIC and MIS. I remember previwing MIC and thinking, "not in THIS lifetime." I loved (and still love) MIS. Confession: I've still never done MIC because I'm a choreography klutz, though I'm in the process of conquering some of the...

how many boxes of cereal in kitchen?

A lot - oatmeal, cream of wheat, steel-cut oatmeal (this is gathering dust in the cupboard), Weetabix, All Bran, Fiber One, shredded wheat, shredded wheat and bran, and Cheerios. And I'm the only one in the house who eats it!

Cathe workout you reach for most often

For strength training, Pyramid Upper Body. For cardio, the Classics Volume 1 DVD - I'm still learning Cathe choreography and I have all the moves down on two of the three workouts on this DVD.

Please tell me about your dogs...

Nancy, the Wheaton terrier is beeeyoootiful! I live in Brooklyn and do freelance/contract work wherever, usually Manhattan.

Please tell me about your dogs...

"My" dog is actually the family dog and lives with my parents in sort-of-rural PA (more room for him to run than in my NYC apartment). His name is Alex and he's a seven-year-old Irish wolfhound/bearded collie mix. He's very tall and skinny, like Marmaduke, and weighs in around 95 pounds...

    Favorite fragrance

I used to wear Chanel's Allure all the time but got sick of it. Now I'm using Fracas by Robert Piguet - my mom gave it to me and at first I thought it smelled too floral. Now I love it.

Any of you speak foreign languages (Australians don't count!) :-)

My French is OK, gets a lot better with practice. My sister lives in France and when I was over earlier this month, I was surprised at how much I understood. I started studying it in fourth grade and had it through my second year of college. I think language education is sooooo important...

Im sooooooo upset about this - I feel sick!

Thank goodness you're OK. I've been broken into, and I was in my apartment - I had to scream and scare the two guys off. I know so well that feeling of violation and vulnerability, that someone was in YOUR place going through YOUR things. I'll agree with all the other advice - get a dog...

    Yoga Booty Ballet???

I bought the YBB "Goddess Package" and love the workouts, in spite of their silly name. They're a supplement to regular cardio/weights for me, or good for an easier day. That doesn't mean all the workouts are easy, just that you feel invigorated rather than drained when you're done! It helps...

    Shoes for wider foot?

I also have New Balance 1006s in a wide size. I have average-width feet but find it a lot more comfortable to buy my workout shoes in wide. NBs offer great support and lots of styles from which to choose, and their crosstrainers are flexible enough for most cardio work. Allison

    Do you log your workouts

I track my workouts in a workout log which I purchased at Collage. It helps me keep track of my cardio vs. weights days and how I feel each day. I record the basics of what I did ("Pyramid Upper plus 20 minutes runnning") and a little bit about my diet and mood/energy level for the day. I...

    What water do you drink?

I have a Brita pitcher which I fill and use for my drinking water. If I had a deep enough kitchen sink, I'd get one of the Brita filters which attach directly to the faucet.

    Evening Snack

I'll snack before bedtime if I'm hungry - I work out first thing in the morning and if I go to bed hungry, I'm drained when I wake up and my workout suffers. I'll eat whatever's around - fruit and a piece of string cheese, a handful of nuts, a rice cake or two with peanut butter, carrots and...

Colds, Flu and how many do you get?

I've never had the flu. I get a cold once every three or four years. I'm lucky, I guess - I do all the things you're supposed to do to prevent colds (take vitamins, work out, eat well, wash my hands, get adequate sleep) but I'm not obsessive about any of it. My husband, on the other hand...

    Has anyone...

I've done them back-to-back once with no pause in between and I was fried. My workout space was also really cluttered - I like the dumbbells only for PUB and barbell only for PLB, and with both of them out and all my plate weights and the High Step and the Club Step to use as a bench...it was a...
