    Sigh. I DO run.....in the evenings a few days a week. and yes, I've had to buy 2 higher sizes in the past year. From a 6-8 to an 8-10 and now a 10-12....believe me, its not compact muscle.

    upping calories after low calories for years and years.....

    I'm confused

    from what I understand, you need excess calories AND protein to build muscle. I've heard this from various trainers and I think even here its been discussed before. While we're on the topic we can discuss "toning" vs "building" muscle as well since I think this is somewhat bogus.

    If you can't build muscle while in a calorie deficit (diet) whats the point in lifting weights while tryingto lose weight? wouldnt it make more sense to do strictly cardio while losing weight and THEN lifting weights to add muscle after?

    Runners- heart rate question for you

    My girlfriend also suggested to me that this is why I can't seem to lose weight cuz my body is always in anaerobic mode and rarely if ever in aerobic mode.
