    Moms-to-Be Check-In Week of 11/15

Hi everyone! I made it through two evenings of parent-teacher interviews (I have two classes), and I'm cruisin this week as the stress is now gone! Ultrasound is next week- Yay! I'm still waiting to feel the baby move- probably in a couple of weeks. Here's my week: Sun. Cathe Bodyblast...

    teacher gift ideas(OT)

As a teacher, I love those gift certificates! A great gift I got last year was a set of brightly coloured notepads with my name on it. I use them constantly! Another idea is a collection of specialty teas or coffee that a teacher can store at school for breaks and lunch. The best gift I...

When did you consider yourself an athlete?

Although people wouldn't think this upon seeing my body, I've always seen myself as fit. The first time I considered myself an athlete was when 2 months ago, when my obstetrician heard my heartbeat, asked me, "Are you an athlete?" I was so over the moon to hear that, it meant a lot more to me...

    Weight issues

I think we all go through this. My normal weight is 155 lbs, and I'm 5'6. Last Monday I weighed in at 170 lbs. I have to laugh when I tell people this, because I really don't look like I'm carrying that kind of weight! And yes, I don't fit into regular pants anymore; even my regular jeans...

    Mommies-to-be check in - 11/1

Hi Ladies! Imani, I don't get migraines, and I usually don't get headaches often. Since pregnant though, I have headaches 2-3 times a week. I had read that frequent headaches or migraines are common in pregnancy. My workouts were few again last week. Sun. Gardening (I was breaking a...

Moms to Be Check-in Week of 10/25

Hi Jen! This was a tough week for me to exercise. I had a lot of fatigue, and I'm doing a lot of extra work at home (getting ready for report cards, catching up on correcting). I'm also substituting exercise for a nap- I figure my body needs it more! On Saturday morning I had plenty of...

Moms to Be Check-in Week of 10/18

Mi Michele! I do chest flies and chest presses on a step bench that is on an incline (that way you avoid being on your back). I use dumbells, as they are easier to hoist up from the floor during rest. I never liked push-ups, but I still feel okay to do them. Anybody with other tips? For...

    Having to Eat Constantly

Yes! This drives me crazy, especially at work. I'm a teacher, and before pregnancy I wouldn't snack before lunch, but now I HAVE to eat something at recess time with the kids. If I don't eat every 3 hours, my stomach aches with hunger. I want to be careful not to overeat though!

Moms to Be Check-in Week of 10/18

Michelle, Keep it up! My girfriend had the terrible nausea until 20 weeks. I hope for you it ends sooner! Imani, How cool to see your ultrasound! I'll be 16 weeks at my next ob. appointment. How exciting to know an ultrasound can be done then! You are fortunate to have your baby...

Moms to Be Check-in Week of 10/18

Hi Jen! I haven't taken the flu shot up here; I'll ask my doctor when I see him in two weeks. I've found that I need to lift lighter weights too. I simply tire more quickly. I tried Cathe's SJP strngth only pre-mix, and it was a nice short workout, but I felt I covered everything. Is...

    Best Premixes for SJP??????

Last week I wanted to do a short all-strength Cathe, and the SJP strength only fit the bill. I don't remember how short it was, but it couldn't have been more than 45 minutes, including WU and CD. I really like the music in this workout. Good for a short, not too tough strength day! :D

Moms to be check in week of 9/27

Hi Mich! If I was sick I wouldn't want to work out either! I think it's great that you're walking. Would going for a walk outside help with the nausea? Don't be hard on yourself. I found it to be a real blow that I couldn't do Cathe workouts like I used to. I miss the intense cardio...

Moms to be check-in, week of Oct. 4th

Hi Jen! My doctor also advised me to take Robitussin extra strength for a bad cough. I'm now careful of how I cough when lying in bed though, some positions give me ab pain as I cough- lying on my side helps. Everyone at work now knows of my pregnancy, as I spilled the beans to a few of...

    Exercise Tapes & Pregnancy

Hi! I've been told that most pregnancy videos are too easy, so I've only used one, Shiva Rea's Prenatal Yoga, for stretching and relaxing. Right now I'm using my regular workouts, just taking out the jumping, jogging and intervals (my doctor's advice). For Cathe workouts, I often use the 4"...
