    Protein Bar

If you don't care about a "natural" label, then Pure Protein has a good one.. Their Chocolate Peanut Butter one is a good bang for the calorie. 200 calories, 20 gms protein. It does have sugar alcohols in it too. Chef Jay's protein cookies and meal replacement bars are pretty tasty, but not...

Question on Decline Work for Chest

Doh.. that is true... although when I do a decline pushup, I don't feel like it hits the same muscles as an incline press . ( Which may be because you are incorporating alot more shoulder, back, and arm work into a pushup than you would in a press.) :) Lynn

Question on Decline Work for Chest

Hi there- Thanks for the input... looks like the advice I received is accurate, I knew I could count on my "cathe-pals!" :) So, would decline pushups need to leave the routine as well? The ones where you put your feet on a step or bench to execute the move? Lynn M.

    Glutes-Advice on what to do

Hi - What kind of lower body exercises are you doing for your legs ( both cardio and wt training)? If I do step for cardio more than 1x/week my glutes look bigger. In weight training, I don't do many step ups w/ weight on a bench either. Both of those seem to add the appearance of more junk...

Question on Decline Work for Chest

Hi - I was talking to a couple of competitive bodybuilders at the gym I go to last week about various exercises they do for chest. I asked them how much chest work ( flys/ presses) they do on a decline bench and their response was never. When I asked them why, they said it can actually...

    pedicure problems

I agree w/ trying your fitness shoes on at the end of the day.. it makes a big difference in fit .. my feet will swell up more post workout and also if I've been on them all day. Going up a 1/2 size is a good suggestion, but depends on the brand. For me, I've found Nike runs true to my...

    gross but need advice

Hi there- I got one of these after having my son almost 8 years ago. While mine has never totally gone away, it doesn't "pop out" very often. When I do get a flare up, its usually because I'm not eating enough fiber or drinking enough water, and then go for a really long hard run or do a...

    Spock is a Hottie!!

Hi- Totally agree !!! I saw Star Trek last night ( my DH is a fan) and I enjoyed it quite a bit even though I never watched the series. Zack Quinto stole the show... I know him as Sylar too from Heroes and love him on that show as well. It will be interesting to see where he goes w/ his...

    cottage cheese

Hi - Try using cottage cheese sometimes in savory applications. One of my favorite healthy meals is to get a bowl of cooked spaghetti squash, and add about 1/2 cup of cottage cheese into that and throw it back in the microwave so that the cottage cheese melts in it and gets gooey. I will...

Getting Fit Even it if Kills You -Crossfit?

Hi- I don't do CrossFit, but there a ton of people at the gym I go to that are pretty hardcore about it.. Undoubtedly, it is a tough innovative program. The things that people do are crazy hard! Of the people who really follow the workouts at the gym, I can see visible changes in their...

Age ain't got nuthin to do with it!!!

This is an interesting thread and hits home for me too... I've struggled w/ my weight my entire life... went through the 60-90 minutes of cardio a day era 6-7x/week and never saw the scale budge or my body shape change that drastically. About 12 years ago, I discovered weight training and...

    Steel v. Rolled Oats

Hi- I believe the difference is how the whole oat grain is cut... Rolled Oats are "flaked" and steel cut is kind of pulverized into little "grape nut" like looking particles. Rolled oats are also slightly steamed during manufacture so that they cook faster than steel cut. Nutritionally, old...

    Calf Work.. Weights or Not?

Hi there- I've decided my new focus these next 4-6 weeks is to increase definition in my calves. While I don't have "cankles", I would like to see a more pronounced development. A couple of people I've talked to at my gym say that to get the best calf definition, you should not do weighted...

    Runners- how's your gams?

Hi- I run 3x/week ( only between 4-5 miles each time) and I think that my legs have slimmed down significantly since running. I also strength train them 1x/week, but I go hard and heavy. I've not seen any reduction in muscle mass at all running this distance and frequency. However, when...

    Any runners pre-order Shock Cardio?

Absolutely! I run 3 days a week and then do some other cardio 2 or 3 of the other days. I can't wait to use shock cardio for cross training, esp. the kickboxing, martial art workouts. I am very excited about this series.. I ddin't order STS Weights as that I strength train at a gym, so I'm...
