    Our Yosemite Trip

It's great that you were able to hike and enjoy your vacation in California. As a resident of the state, I agree that it is beautiful (Well, the parts you visited are. We've got our ugly too...) Now that you've seen Yosemite, I would recommend putting Alaska on your must see list. We went...

What can you do that you couldn't do 2 years ago?

Hmmm... Two years ago I was in a place that I did not like one bit. I was recovering from foot surgery and was about 15 to 20 lbs heavier than I am now. So, two years ago I was quite a bit heavier and unable to run, which I so dearly love to do. These days I am: -training for a...

    First 5K w/ my daughter!

I understand your excitement completely!!! Last year I ran three different 5K races with my then 7 year old DD. I stayed with her the entire distance in all three of them and insisted she keep her pace slow. She attends a a x-country camp in the summer and winter and a track camp in the...

    Calling all runners.....................

I know what you mean, Gayle. I've run 5 marathons, qualified for Boston in one of them and don't consider myself a runner! I think the main reason is because I had PF so bad that it required surgery. I was out of running commission for about two years. Not being able to run for that...

    Asperger's syndrome resources?

I second Temple Grandin and Tony Attwood. I've had the pleasure of hearing Temple Grandin speak and am thankful for the experience. My DS, now 18, was not diagnosed until he was in fourth grade and that was after *I* had figured out what was going on. His journey sounds similar to your DDs...

Having anxiety about a big change in my life!

I suddenly have an opportunity to work full time. I've not worked (for pay :)) for about 3 1/2 years, and when I did I was able to work part time and primarily from home. The new position is full time and at the office. I'm very nervous about accepting a full time position. The main thing...

Hi Michele! I made your black bean chilli last night. DH loved it......maybe because I used Polygamy Porter for the liquid. :) Next time I think I'll try 1/2 beer, 1/2 broth 'cause I will be making this one again. Thanks for posting it!

Who One Star Rates a Friggin' Birthday Thread?!?

You know what I think? I think Jonzie one starred the birthday thread just so she could start talking about how some forum members are "bullies".

    Thyroid and Selenium

Yes, thank you Kathryn. I really do not like taking supplements, preferring to get vitamins and minerals from the food I eat. I have substituted Brazil Nuts for the selenium in pill form, and am sure that I will also benefit from the other stuff the nuts provide.

    Thyroid and Selenium

I had extensive bloodwork done before my doctor prescribed selenium. I would not take any kind of supplement unless advised by my doctor. I have not seen anything indicating that selenium builds up and therefore should be taken only for short periods. Indeed, I have read that a selenium...

    Thyroid and Selenium

A month or so ago I posted that after my MD noticed that my TSH level was in the high normal range he instructed me to take a daily dose of 100 mcg of selenium. I had been struggling to lose some extra weight and soon after I started taking the selenium the weight loss effort was successful...

    what's YOUR personal motto???

For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin -- real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life...

    What'cha Doin' the Weekend??

For some reason I thought you were in Las Vegas..... The Bad Seed is one of my favorites. My 8 year old DD is always petting my arm saying "You're so pretty, mommy. So, so sweet. I love you, mommy."
