    Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 5-31

Today was XTrain Chest, Back & Shoulders. I added on Tabata #1 because I'm determined that one day I'm going to make it through an entire tabata without stopping. After XTrain, I'll probably go back to one of the generic rotations I have - I like having a framework but being able to use a...

    Pentagenarians & Beyond W/B 5/24

Today was Super Cuts. I'm getting to the point where I don't dislike it as much as I did when I first started with it. I'm probably just getting used to metabolic workouts, where I usually kept my cardio and strength separate. This finishes week #8 of the 90-day rotation, and tomorrow is a...

    Pentagenarians & Beyond W/B 5/24

Hi everyone - I've been missing for a few days because I've kind of been in a slump. I haven't been eating so good, and even though I've keeping up with my XTrain rotation, I haven't been giving it my all. Not sure what's going on, but today was a rest day, so I did a half hour bike ride...

    Pentagenarians & Beyond W/B 5/17

XTrain Bis and Tris today, and I added the 100 rep tricep extension challenge. Deb - I found the group I get together with on meetup.com. They have groups for just about every possible interest you could think of. It looks like a perfect day today. I'm letting my hair dry while I'm having...

    Pentagenarians & Beyond W/B 5/17

Rest day today, but it was so nice that I took a 2 mile walk around the area. And it was even nicer in the evening, so I watched the sunset from my patio with a glass of wine! Lori - Your margarita sounds good! What a nice compliment from your son. I've been with this Meetup group for a...

Pentagenarians & Beyond: Week Beginning: 5/10

Hard Strikes Timesaver this afternoon. Short workout, but it was a sweatfest with the high humidity today. Lori - That's a lot of leg work in a short period of time! They must feel like jello. That's great that you can fit into your smaller clothes! Valerie - Hoping for some good weather so...

Pentagenarians & Beyond: Week Beginning: 5/10

Today was XTrain Chest, Back & Shoulders. I'm not used to working body parts only once a week (doesn't feel like that would be enough), but they do get worked a bit with Hard Strikes and Super Cuts. Deb - I hope everything works out ok for you and your pets. That's a lot to worry about...

Pentagenarians & Beyond: Week Beginning: 5/10

Hi ladies - I did XTrain Legs today. It was long, but I got a good workout in. My cat normally joins me when I do my stretch, and it's evolved into stretch/belly rub time for her and a lot of contortion for me. So today when I started the floor portion of the workout, she thought it was...

    Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 5/3

Hi everybody! I did Super Cuts today. It was the first time doing it, so some of the moves were a little awkward. I'm not sure if I like the metabolic workouts yet. DB - you sound like a kid in a candy store with the Workout Blender. I'm sure you're going to enjoy it! Lori and Lynda - Hope...

    Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 5/3

DB - I sympathize on the cortisone shot. I had one once and it hurt like heck! The needle was pretty big and scary, too. Lori - Congratulations on your weight loss! I was debating for a long time about STS or XTrain and ended up getting XTrain. Still might get STS in the future, though...

    Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 5/3

DB - Pure Strength was one of the first Cathe workouts I bought. It's dated with the clothes and hairstyles, but it's still a good DVD that I use a lot. I have to watch my knees, too. My left knee slips and catches with some of the movements, so I go light on weight and modify when I do legs...

    Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 5/3

I did XTrain Cardio Leg Blast today, after running out of reasons to postpone it all day. I made it through a lot of the cardio without stopping, but some of the intervals did me in and I had to stop and pick up when I could. Whew! I then decided to celebrate Cinco de Mayo by making myself...

    Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 5/3

Hi everyone! Like DB, I'm also a long time lurker. Can I join your group, too? I will be 56 next month, and I'm looking for a group that I can share with. I retired last year from my job as a software developer, and have happily busy ever since. I have time to work out, plus I sew clothing...

    My knees need a mat

Thanks everyone! I hadn't thought of puzzle mats, but I think that's going to work for me. Dawn

    My knees need a mat

I've been looking for a mat that I can use on my carpeted living room for high impact moves that can be rolled up or folded to be put away when I'm done. I've been using my sit-up mat, but it doesn't cover a big enough area. Has anyone found a mat like this? Dawn

What is your last workout for 2012?

Seems like PUB is a popular workout today! I did it this morning and am going to try and add some cardio later today. I'm going to miss having this time to work out when I go back to work on Wednesday, so I'm enjoying it as much as I can now. Dawn

    I miss my Dad!

I lost my dad in 2003 and miss him very much. But I feel like he kind of lives on, because it continues to surprise me how much he influenced me and continues to do so. Dawn

Am i too overweight and old

Candi - you're not too old and overweight! Congratulations on wanting to start again. I was 75 pounds overweight earlier this year, and I'm 51. I've been tracking what I eat and working out with Cathe, and I've lost 50 pounds. I have more endurance and I'm stronger than I've ever been in my...

    Just got a Kindle

I love my Kindle and never go anywhere without it! I'm currently reading and enjoying Ken Follett's "The Pillars of the Earth." There are a lot of free and almost-free good independent books. The Kindle discussion board in Amazon.com is a good resource. Enjoy your new Kindle! Dawn
