Weight loss: when is enough enough?

Stephanie - I went through this exact same thing. I reached my goal weight and then thought I needed to go a little lower to have a buffer zone. Then, I went a little lower...still "just in case" I gain weight. It became an obsession - so much of my day was spent thinking about...

    The Serial Bully

Kassia - I think I've reached my breaking point with my MIL. Maybe not since I didn't confront her when she was nasty to me a couple of weeks ago. I'm done trying to please her, though. Like you, I came from a dysfunctional home and I was very young when I met her - I was 18 when I met her...

    The Serial Bully

I never saw the show. It's been difficult to deal with my MIL. I mostly avoid her and don't see her unless it's a holiday or birthday. She's mean to me, my DH and our children. Not all the time, but you just never know when she's going to be in "a mood." I just had her over for dinner a...

Just thought I'd try to blow everyone's mind early this morning

My husband has always argued the 3500 calories = a pound. He is very lean and struggles to keep weight on. He believes that the more he eats, the more he burns - like his metabolism works harder to burn off the extra calories so he doesn't gain weight. As far as kimenem's post...I don't...

    LL Bean versus Lands End

I like both, but buy from Lands End much more because I seem to get better discounts with LE. They both have great quality and customer service. Except for some lamps I bought from LE years ago - made in China and junky. Erica

    The Most Depressing Movie EVER?!?

Melissa - I have always avoided watching Schindler's List because I thought it would be too disturbing for me - content like that would haunt me for weeks. I recently read a children's book about the Holocaust and it was so horrifying to read...like you said, the lack of humanity was just...

    The Most Depressing Movie EVER?!?

I'm not much of a movie watcher, but some of the most depressing movies I've ever seen were: Legends of the Fall Mystic River and..this one's probably silly, but it was disturbing to me: Star Wars Episode III (I can't remember the name of that one, but it's the one where Anakin turns...

    dysfunctional family ???

My mother and I were estranged for 7 years. We've been communicating again for over a year, but I am very cautious with her and do not trust her. She lives out of state and has never seen my youngest child (7 1/2 years old) and hasn't seen my teens since they were small children. I didn't...

I especially feel badly for his daughter. Imagine how she's going to feel when she grows up and finds out that her father refused to acknowledge her as his daughter. :( Erica

Anyone done all 3 HiiTs in one bout?

I've done all three in a row twice. The first time, I was pretty wiped out after 40/20 and did not push as hard in 30/30 and DWP. The next time I did it, I lowered my risers in 40/20 so I was using an 8" step instead of 12" and I wasn't as fatigued. I think next time, I'll try it with a 10"...

What to do with unwanted exercise dvd's?

You can sell them on bisibat.com. Unlike ebay and Amazon, there are no fees but there's not a lot of traffic there for DVDs (I've sold a couple there). It's mostly books. Erica

Is anyone out running in the cold?

Michelle, What year did your DH graduate? Mine graduated in '82. We did have a lot of snow last week, but it's quiet now. To keep this on topic, I was running every day in any temps, but the snowplow came by yesterday and tore up all the snow, dumped cinders everywhere and now our...

Is anyone out running in the cold?

How funny! I love Chagrin Falls! We lived there for a year while our house was being built and loved it there. We still go there once a year and have a picnic, feed the ducks and go to the playground and the popcorn shop. :) Nice to meet you, too! I have twins also, but they are 15 1/2...

Is anyone out running in the cold?

Lynn - I wear the Yaktrax Pros, too - they work great! And I have been running with just one pair of socks on. I wear one pair of heavy mittens and my hands are all sweaty by the end of my run. I agree that running in snow is a lot different than running on pavement - feels more like trail...
