H1N1 WARNING:I got the vaccine 4 weeks ago and I was just diagnosed with H1N1!!

A lot of hospitals are self insured when it comes to workmen's comp. What that means is that it's faster, cheaper, and much much less hassle for the employer to utilize their own doctors, labs, x-rays etc to treat work related injuries rather than send somebody outside of the organization for...

H1N1 WARNING:I got the vaccine 4 weeks ago and I was just diagnosed with H1N1!!

For the general population or for situations that don't pose a health risk for other patients I agree with you. However use of the ER for this type of thing is entirely appropriate. This is about protecting patients while providing an adequate and healthy work force to take care of them...

Mommy dilemma - what would you do?

I'd also just leave him where he is. Another consideration is that moving him may not result in better preparation for school as I would imagine that most preschools and daycares are facing similar budget cuts. Diana

A question for the doctors/nurses in Catheland

If your mother was recently diagnosed with diabetes she should ask for diabetes education if her doctor hasn't already ordered it. She will get advice regarding an individualized meal plan and also suggestions on activity, learn how to test her blood sugar, all the meds, how to reduce her risk...

    Another GWF update

Thought I'd answer this question as I'm a pumper too and have had the GWF since January. I don't really notice the GWF and I do wear it almost every day except for showering and occasional breaks. It doesn't really feel like one more gadget on my body. I can relate to how you feel however what...

I need cooking advice re: homemade soup

I also found that after a while I started skipping the pureeing step and found I like the soups better. They may not always be as thick but I still like the texture better. Diana

HIIT vs. lower intensity -what's happening, dude?

In the big picture it also all still boils down to total calories in vs out at the end of the day/week. If you're in a deficit you'll lose weight/fat. If you're at maintenance you'll stay the same. If in a surplus you'll gain. You still burned more total calories in the shorter workout...

Just in case you thought the Grapefruit Diet was a good idea, think again!

Grapefruit is a food that can have interactions with various drugs. So much so in fact that for many years now every hospital I've worked at strictly bans grapefruit and grapefruit juice from being served to patients. It's more the combo that's potentially dangerous not that grapefruit is...

    High Blood Sugar

110 as normal fasting blood glucose was changed a couple years ago I believe. According the American Diabetes Association normal fasting glucose is 99 or less. FBS 100 to 125 is pre-diabetes. Here's a link to some info on prediabetes from the ADA. http://www.diabetes.org/pre-diabetes.jsp...

    walmart step

I bought that package a couple years ago and I think mine has the same DVD. The cardio portions seem to be Basic Step, Body Fusion, and Low Impact Step. The weight training discs I believe are the ones that come with Body Fusion and Low Impact Step. Mine also had one of the stretching DVD's...

    Attn Webmaster login problems

Thanks everybody for the feedback and help. My hubby tried a variety of things so I'm not entirely sure what helped but it's working now. It was probably a combo of redoing the latest update and clearing my cookies and cache. Diana

    Attn Webmaster login problems

Hi, Sorry to post this publicly but your customer support said to do this. Anyway I thought you'd like to know that the forum log-in doesn't work in Firefox on a Mac. I have to go into windows and IE to log in successfully. (Yuck and double yuck.) I'm not totally sure how long this has...

    Anyone diagnosed as pre-diabetic?

    >You're not diagnosed as pre-diabetic unless you have a >fasting blood sugar that's greater than 130-140. > >Actually, normal blood sugars range from 80-120, so you are >well within the normal range! > >It's nothing to be freaked about, I promise you!!! Actually the above is not true...

Pretty sure I just wasted 2 yrs of my life in nursing..

I'm an RN and I can relate how the job is tough. I still work in nursing but now in education (patients not nurses). Anyway if it's truly not for you I'd say get out find another job. The time isn't wasted. You may do better in a different medical career. However the first year of...
