Perfect30 Perfect Pump Lower Body

Just did this today and loved just the normal workout. Starts off strong out of the gate and moved at a quick but fun pace!

My favorite moves are the pick up squats and the crossover lunges but it all works so well because it flows from one move to the next. Fun, fun just as it is!! Loved it!!!
Yay

I just did this again for the second time and went a little heavier on some of the moves. The only move I have a hard time with is the cossack squat, I just can't get it and it feels uncomfortable. So I am just doing slow side to side lunges with 12 lbs in each hand. I did remember to add on the bonus this time and my outer thighs are screaming at me. I used a heavier tubing and I'm feeling it now. Love the bonus stretch for this workout.
Awesome

Wow. Just finished it. I'm dripping sweat and I generally don't use weights as heavy as Cathe and crew. My advice: don't be afraid to go heavy. For the most part you're only doing 10 or 12 reps of each exercise so you can really push it and concentrate. OTOH, you can also do this with NO weight and you will still get a fabulous workout. All depends on where you are right now in your fitness journey.

The backdrop is a gorgeous beach and village scene with trees and mountains in the background, and if that doesn't motivate you, I don't know what will. :)

The warm up starts off with squats, side lunges, and rear lunges, then she does the same thing with weights. She uses 12 pound dumbbells and I grabbed 8s because I wasn't sure about using heavy weights so early, but next time I will go heavier. She also does deadlifts (which I ADORE) in the warm up, so I was wishing I'd had heavier. She then grabs 15s and repeats the sequence, and I used 12s. Could have gone heavier, and next time I will.

Squats are first and she used 25s. I grabbed 12s and again I will go heavier next time. She then uses 20s for static lunges and I used 8s because I'm a bit wobbly on lunges, even without weight. Dead lifts are next and she used 30s. I did too. I can go heavy on deadlifts, so I went for it. :)

Pick up squats are next and she used a 40 pound dumbbell. I used a 25. These are like sumo squats where you're switching hands in between, with the bell on the floor as you do.

Elevated lunges are next, and she used 4 risers on the high step and 15s. I used no weight and only had 2 risers, because I know on these I don't have the balance and flexibility to do what she does. She also did explosive jumps on the next set of lunges, with no weight, but I didn't do those either. I just did faster lunges.

Next were deadlifts with toes elevated on barbell plates. She used 30s and so did I. Next were squats again with heels elevated on the plates. She used 15s and I stuck with 12s. Step ups were next. These are also known as leg press. She used 4 risers and 15s. I used 2 risers and 8s, but will try higher weight next time since we don't do a lot of reps.

Next up were single leg deadlifts with a 30 pound bell and I used the same. This might well be my new favorite Cathe lower body workout because of all the deadlifts! :)

Next were front lunges with a 15 pound bell, and I used no weight because by this time, I was really tired. She then used a 40 pound bell for close grip squats. I used a 20. Again, this is like a sumo where you're holding the bell in between your legs while squatting. You don't put it on the floor for these.

Next were squats with crossover lunges on a 6 inch step, with a 15 pound bell. You squat off the side and then immediately do a back crossover lunge. I did these with a 5 pound weight and on the floor, because I was tired and didn't want to get off balance on the step.

Forward leaning glute lunges with a 15 pound bell were next. Again she was on a 6 inch step. I did these on the step top only and with no weight. It's a lunge off the back of the step and you lean forward and down to lower the bell, while keeping the front knee from going over the toe.

Next were cossack squats. You go into a side lunge and then transfer to the other leg and lift the toe. She used a 12 pound and I used no weight. The last exercise was three sets of calf raises and they were holding 25 pound dumbbells! I did them with no weight, and had trouble with the third set. LOL! The reps are 25, 20, and lastly 15. WHEW!!

The stretch was just enough and really felt wonderful. The workout goes fast, but you definitely feel worked out! I adored this and can't wait to do the other workouts in the series!! :)
Amazing review!!! Thank you for sharing your detailed experience!

I finally tried this workout for the first time yesterday - purchased during her inventory clearance (still sad about that). Not sure why, but I wasn't too keen on this series when it first came out, other than the mobility DVD, which I think I purchased around the time when P30 released. (I was probably avoiding the whole set since I wasn't interested in the HiiT cardio.) I'm remembering this released during COVID, too (jeez that was six years ago now!), and I was likely being choosy about what I was spending money on.

Anyway - I can see how this workout, and I'm assuming also the UB one, might have been the workouts that Cathe later modeled STS 2.0 after. Heavy weights, lower reps in the hypertrophy range, with a lot of similar moves.

I did this workout during a de-load week that I'm giving myself (having some right shoulder issues so giving it a rest by holding lighter weights). I still felt worked pretty good, and know that when I hit this with truly heavy weights, it'll be all the more challenging. Very brief rests between exercises in this, which kept my heart rate more elevated. She gives just enough time to swap out your weights, so it's definitely not those luxurious 60-second rests you get in both the STS series.

I agree with some other's feelings about cossack squats. Lifting my toes just is not comfortable, so I always keep them down - when I modify like that, I do find them fun (especially when you're done and you're trying to get back upright without injuring yourself.)

I like that it's a short workout. I may occasionally sub this one in for LB during a STS Meso 2 or STS 2.0 rotation.

I did this one with the premix that included the core and bonus stretch. I will definitely check out the bonus next time - I didn't realize the UB/LB workouts had bonus content, and I'm keen to try them out - especially since it's such a short workout, it'll be easy to do. Kind of bummed I didn't do the LB bonus since it looks like it's floor work, which I always appreciate.

I'm liking all the premix options I'm seeing with these workouts, where I could also do a UB/LB premix to use as a TB workout.

Better late than never. It's fun experiencing some of these older workouts for the first time.

I like both the Perfect 30 Upper & Lower Body workouts, 1) because they're "express" and 2) because they
have fun exercises in them. The bonus content on each isn't that long, but they offer even more options,
with & without tubing in some of them.

I like P30 weight workouts too. My complaint on the LB is for such a shorter workout she has us do 3 - count'em - three!- sets of calf raises Really, we couldn't find some other more fun exercise to include than 3 sets of calf raises? Come on now .... lol.

When Cathe hits calves, she really hits them. When I think about most of her LB workouts that include calves, she usually does at least two sets of them.

I wonder which workout has the most - I feel like it's LMRE's Elevated Lower Body.

Unlike the rest of you so far, I like the calf raises because I am trying to build them back up after my hip replacement and because I could use a little more density in my calfs.
I was a bit tongue-in-cheek with my comments. Lots of people like calf work. I often do them, but I sometimes do complain when there are so many I feel a knot developing lol. No different than the umpteen sit'n'stands, low-ends or pulsing squats in Legs and Glutes or Meaner ...err.. Leaner Legs. Just having a little fun laughing at Cathe's cruelty and witch's laugh at our grins and bearing it. :)

Thougthful and sensible decision. I love working calves:cool::)
We all need strong calves. Cyclists need strength even more!

Yep....to highligted above. There are so many "Full lower body compound" system out there. Many content do not hit calves.

I love the way Cathe hit calves in LMR2E. I had sweet-happy DOMS which lasted 48 hours lol:D:D:D

Aqua girl might know.....
No, I really don't know, the only one that comes to mind that I mentioned above is Lite Pyramid Pump Lower
Body that ends with Calf Raises, 5 sets, 1)30 2) 25 3)20 4)25 5) 30, for a total of 130 raises......that's
alot! Calf Raises are ok......but like mentioned above, after a ton of them continuously, I, too, start to feel
a tightening/knot in them and I have to stop.

I think it's best to listen to our muscles; knots aren't good. More recent research says the pursuit of DOMS isn't good either. I like to be able to enjoy my workouts, not curse them for a few days as the DOMS abates. No one "needs" to do 130 calf raises at once lol. :)

No kiddin' :) Not much "rest" between those sets either. Calves in a Box have alot of reps, like I think
maybe 16 each direction, so would be 64?
Yup, and when you consider the calves work every time you take s step walking or moving around, they get plenty of work just from daily living. Now if you're rehabbing, like Nicki, and/or want monstrous calves - go for it! But, calf shape is determined by genetics more than anything else, so don't get upset if those 130 calf raises don't get you the calves of your dreams.
