Good morning,

A rest day for me yesterday. I really like the S&S rotation, but I think I am going to alternate a week of the S&S with a week of the Live workouts. I am missing the Live workouts, and I think with all S&S, I will tire of them quickly. Also miss my Live workouts!

Diane Sue, I am not that picky about premixes either...there are so many to choose from. I guess the Forum Admin admitted that leaving out that section was a mistake, not intentional...but who cares? Wow, 3 degrees, that is really cold! It was 7 for most of the morning here.

Carolyn, we are on the same page with the Bonus Abs....although I have not even previewed it yet. :).

Lori, LOL on how you walked by the bar...that happens to me a lot too. Go to the basement for something, get distracted and come back up without it. Nice that you are doing WW with your friend. It always helps to have a partner.

Valerie, glad you made it! Is this rental near your new build? I have had that tire warning twice now...did not know anything about metal under seat causing it...what are the spikes you mentioned?

A workout, then HouseMax for me. John picked up a pork loin that we will put in the oven for dinner.

Take care,

Deb we are in bozeman. Our build is another 100 miles but all suppliers are here.
Micro spikes are a type of traction device that slip on over boots we keep them in our car for winter hiking. Kind of like yaktrax. It was a big surprise to read that in the owners manual. The warning kept flickering and we stopped to look at the tires and could not see any problem and I kept looking for a reason. This is the ',13 outback. Finding anything definitive in owners manual is always a challenge

Good Morning,
Today is a rest day for me too. It's a cold day here with 16 degrees and wind chills in single digits. We only had a dusting of snow but freezing rain and ice. Not a good weekend to be out on the roads.

Lori, I'm glad that you are trying WW with your friend. It's a great program for increasing awareness of food choices and portion sizes. Having a partner is a good support system. I didn't realize that WW syncs with Apple Health. It didn't originally which is one reason I didn't get an Apple Watch. I don't think you have to worry about Fit Points with your activity level. I don't pay much attention to them now because I usually meet my weekly target. I don't eat those extra points.

Valerie, I didn't realize that you are building a new house. That must be very exciting.

Deb, I think the Bonus Abs will be doable for me with modifications to the side plank moves. Like Lori, those bother my shoulder.

Stay warm and have a good day.

Good evening ladies!

This morning I did all 3 SB's bounce workouts plus the Jumpsport interval one. Total time was 69 minutes and 478 calories. My legs were really tired after this! My son is staying thru Tuesday. He had a couple of things to take care of plus has a dentist appt on Tuesday so made no sense to drive home. He and his GF are still talking things out. Not sure how it will end up but I need to back away and let them do their thing. For selfish reasons hoping they stay together. If not I will be there for him.

Deb...I thought the same thing about the rotation. Going to be hard to stick with just 6 workouts for a month. That is why I am incorporating my jumping, barre and some JS when I can. Thinking on sticking with shorter premixes of the S&S workouts..this will allow me to mix things up a bit yet still feel like I am following a rotation. It was fun doing Cathe Live yesterday. Seems like it has been a while since I have done one.

Carolyn...so far I am enjoying WW on line. It really makes me aware of what I am eating. I too think I will have no problem meeting my weekly fitpoints. Not sure how the swapping for food works yet with these points. Like you I do not think I will but good to know I have them.

Valerie...how is your second home coming along? Not sure if you have mentioned anything lately. 11 hours of driving! Wow! Glad you made it and now do nothave to worry about the roads today. Was smart.

Diane Sue...the bounce workout where she uses the support of the barre I was not able to do since being up stairs. I just did similar moves on the floor using a chair. With my ankle weights it was still a great workout.

It is so cold here! 14 degrees right now. We just did some snowblowing and we are numb!

Today is a rest day. We had a family birthday party this afternoon. It is warming up an melting off here. They say it was -3 the day I said it was 3 degrees. Maybe I didn't look at it correctly. Anyway it will get mid 60's then they are forecasting an ice storm. Those are the worst.

Valerie, I am glad to hear that you made it there. I do not like travelling and wondering why warning lights are on on my vehicle.

Deb, I don't care if they made a mistake. It does not make sense for them to redo the workouts. Not for a tiny segment of missed cardio.

Carolyn, freezing rain and ice is the worst. Time to stay in if at all possible.

Lori, thanks. I thought that it looked like it would be possible to get off of the rebounder and do the bar work. There are always moves that can be substituted. I have been doing that a lot lately. It is hard to stand by and wait for our children to make their decisions and hope they do well, but it is the best thing to do. Of course you hope they work things out.

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did S & S Total Body Giant Sets. I'm starting the 2nd week of the rotation tomorrow, but I might add in or substitute a couple of other workouts. Or I might do S & S this week, then alternate with STS or Body Beast next week. It's always hard for me to stick with one rotation. There are so many workouts that I want to do and it seems like as soon as I commit to a rotation, I start wanting to do other workouts. One of my goals for 2017 was to be more consistent with Cathe rotations and also to take active rest weeks every 3-4 weeks. One thing I am finding I do like about rotations is having my workouts planned for me and not having to decide which workout to do every day.

It's been very cold here this weekend, highs in the teens and wind chills below zero. Not fun to be outside at all.

Deb-That's a good idea to alternate with a week of Live workouts. I really want to add more Live workouts into my routine too. I'm doing the S & S Bonus Abs, but I'm not able to do all the moves right yet. It's challenging but I like it.

Valerie-I'm glad you made it to Bozeman. I bet that is a beautiful area. That is a lot of driving!

Carolyn-I really like Total Body Giant Sets too. You could make a pretty good strength rotation just using the premixes on that DVD alone.

Lori-I hope things work out with your son and his GF. Hopefully if they are talking, that's a good sign.

Diane Sue-I agree about the boot camp dvd. I don't think they should have to make all the dvds over again for that premix mistake. It wasn't that big of a deal. I hate ice storms. We had them a lot in Iowa. Be careful tomorrow.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Strong Total Body. This will be my week of Live workouts, then I will go back and do week 2 of the S&S rotation.

Valerie, glad you got as far as you did without any weather issues. Now I remember you mentioning those spikes for hiking. We have those Yak Tracks that fit over your boots for walking on icy streets. Why/how do they set off the tire warning light?

Carolyn, it sounds like you are having the exact same weather as we are. I can't do those side plank moves at all...I usually sub something else for them.

Lori, great workouts! I hope your son and GF work things out, but like you said, that is all up to them. Same here on Cathe Live....it was good to get some water breaks!

Diane Sue, yes, I would rather have a blizzard than an ice storm. Very strange to go from 60 degrees to a storm. Did someone ask Cathe to make that DVD over again because of that one missing section? That would be ridiculous.

Judy, it sounds like you, Lori and I feel the same about the S&S rotation. I probably should have tried the one that is mixed up with the ICE workouts, for a little variety, but then, I really like mixing in the Live workouts, which I missed that first week.

Blood work at 5:30 am today...then a workout. I have the heating company coming today to check out the boiler....it is making some strange banging noises...and class tonight.

Take care,

Deb no clue why the spikes set off the tire pressure warning. The are not solid metal, Stretchy rubber with small metal spikes but must have been in just the wrong spot. The warning stopped when we moved them. It is mentioned in one place in the manual as far as I could see. We brought them along in case we had extra time or in case things were real Icy but no need so far. Some bad weather in some of Mt. but not where we are so far.

So many premixes can't imagine anyone getting upset over a tiny omission... just add it back in yourself and move on.

I also have a problem with side planks and work around them. I can't block my feet like they do and Need to press against a wall or solid object
carolyn we are building a vacation house. North of Yellowstone area. Just started late fall although we owned the land for 15 years. Waited until dh retired

In other bad news we had a small chip in the iPad screen . We put it in the car the night before we left and when I pulled it out while driving the screen had shattered into a dozen of cracks. Expensive to replace ......anyone have experience with this? Must have been a temp sensitivity because the small crack had been there for months without changing and it was not dropped but it was 30 degrees that night in the garage.

Today I did Cardio Slam again and added the Bonus Abs. I did the premix with modifications as I try to learn the moves and modifications for the full workout. I will try a shorter premix next time. The workout is a bit long for me. With the abs it was 62 minutes. I am doing the second week of the rotation but can see the need to change from the same six workouts soon. I thought I would look at SS and ICE for week 3.

Valerie, that's too bad about the iPad screen. It probably was the cold. My windshield did that last winter with a small ding becoming a big crack with the temperature change.

I need to do some paperwork and some planning for the club today. Hello to everyone.

Carolyn the same night our truck windshield cracked from a small ding that had been there for years. Every vehicle now has a cracked windshield. dh dropped the iPad months ago. So GLAD it wasn't' Me. I always put a cover on it because it's so slippery. He does too. ... Now.

Watched the goldenGlobes last night. Pretty good ...especially the Meryl Streep
Speech. She came out strongly against DT.
No big surprise but she was impressive as usual. Worth watching . Viola Davis 'introduction was also fabulous. Usually don't watch the globes but we have limited tv stations here. The sound system kept. BLinking off besides. They a newish Samsung tv but it made every single person look like they'd gained 30 lbs.

Today I did Low Impact Step Challenge with modifiers for burpees, 52 minutes, 344 calories, heart rate 130/ 152. I then did watched some of the lower body work on SS giant sets and did some lower strength moves on my own, squats, lunges, pistols, walking lunges and plie squats. Not a lot. This was 18 minutes, 52 calories on my Fit Bit. Total time 70 minutes, 396 calories. I made a trip to Sprouts. They are having a good 25% off nutrition supplements and vitamins along with skin care etc.. I noticed they now have the Bone Broth Protein like Dr Axe sells. It was less than on Dr Axe but still up there for protein powder. Even with 25% off. I really needed some fruits and vegetables. I was running out of a lot and didn't have ingredients for recipes.

Deb, I never read that anyone expected the workouts be replaced because it was missing a section on a premix. I have just read complaints on customer service and other issues. I think that Cathe's will take care of it if everyone has some patience. It sounds like quite a few issues. So far I have not found anything substantial on my dvds or downloads.

Judy, I find that I start wanting to do something else too. Generally I do more than one workout even when doing a rotation. Once in awhile I can stick with a whole rotation, but I am better off if the rotation is not more that a month to 6 weeks. By the end of a 90 day rotation my mind is wandering and I am wanting to quit. Also on workouts that have a recovery week I tend to go to something else that is a bit lighter and more cardio instead of taking a recovery.

Valerie, I have never had a phone or tablet screen crack. My family on the other hand always is running around with cracks in there iphones and ipads. I have never seen the ones with the Samsung products with cracks. Maybe their family is just more careful. That is odd that the screen just shattered from a crack. I know my son in law had insurance on his but it still cost him over a 100 dollars to repair. My daughter has been using her ipad mini with a cracked screen for a couple of years. It was cracked by one of her small children right at the start. I remember our old projection Misubishi television and exercising with the instructors looking rather plump. To adjust the size it would take away part of the screen.

Good evening ladies...

Today ended up a rest day. I slept in and it felt great!

Diane Sue...still freezing here. Been in the teens all day. This morning my car door would not open. Eventually got it open but such a pain. Family birthdays are nice.

Judy...I have been the same way lately! I commit then a week or so into it I need more!!! I would like to try out one of Cathe's monthly rotations like Carolyn did. Seems like there is always so much variety in them. Then I can sub in a barre, jump or live here and there. Kudos to you to be able to do STS and Body Beast.

Deb...I like your thinking of alternating with Live. I may like that. I'll take blizzard over ice any day too. I guess the "decision" will be made tomorrow when my son and his GF see eachother. Keeping my fingers crossed. I remembered to bring my jumpsport bar home. I may install tonight to try out in the morning.

Valerie...my husband dropped his and boke the sceen a few years back. It was the 2nd generation and it cost I think $300 to replace. I remember it was ridiculous but had no choice as we did not have Apple Care Insurance. Hoping the cost is lower now for you. I am so mad I missed the Golden Globes. I like watching award shows. Unfortunately though, I usually fall asleep before they end. :(

Carolyn....great job on the Cardio Slam with the abs! My son leaves tomorrow so I may just continue with my random workouts this week. Then start S&S week 2 next week. Deb is on to something!

Have a great night all!!!

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did Cardio Slam with all of the modifications and I added a few of my own for the mat section.
I also did a Jessica Smith ab workout.

Deb-I think the S & S with ICE rotation would be a good one. I printed out several mixed rotations from the user guides for S & S, ICE & RWH. I want to do a rotation using RWH this year. Up to now I haven't done much except with that series it except a workout here and there.
I hope your blood work went ok. We have to get our annual blood work next month. I'm hoping my cholesterol is better than last year.

Carolyn-I agree that Cardio Slam is a little long. I like the shorter premixes better. S & S with ICE for the 3rd week sounds like a good plan. I think 2 weeks of S & S alone will be enough for me too.

Valerie-I've never had any screen problems with my phone or iPad. I hope you can get yours fixed easily.

Diane Sue-I do the same thing with recovery weeks. I usually do more cardio and easier, lighter workouts.

Lori-I would like to try one of Cathe's monthly rotations too. One of hers that I want to do this year is the "Rock Bottoms" rotation. I might try that one later in the Spring.

What I read is about 300$ to replace screen. Wow. We would have been ok with the "little " broken spot but it ran in all directionswith a dozen now. We didn't buy apple care ins. Which made repair 49no real chance to workout this had been a work trip and the. The tv/DVD stopped working. Got fixed at ) 6 utonight

So tired so time to sign off.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Crush It Low Impact. A quick little cardio workout. Only 34 minutes but it packs a wallop! Skipped class last night..John was really tired and I wasn't feeling up to it either.

Valerie, that's too bad about the iPad screen. I can see how the cold could make it crack further. John dropped his and cracked the screen, but that was when it was still in the warranty period and he also had the insurance so they replaced it. AT this point, and with that cost it would be better to buy a new one.

Carolyn, I felt the same about the Cardio Slam workout, the full one even with modifications was long for me, so I decided I would just to the premix without the Mat section. Hope all works with your son and his GF.

Diane Sue, nice that you got to Sprouts while they were having that sale. I didn't see the comment myself about replacing the DVD's, I think it was mentioned by someone else.

Lori, you need a car starter! Especially if you don't keep your car in a garage. Hope the jumpstart bar works well.

Judy, Like you mentioned too, I think I will do the S&S with ICE next, but somehow still have to fit in the Live workouts! So many workouts, so little time....LOL. The blood work went ok, I too hope my cholesterol is down from last year. Are you taking meds for it?

A workout, and finally will put the Christmas stuff away in the attic. I have been avoiding going up there and have left the stuff in the den.

Take care,

Wow I'm a pretty bad typist on the phone. Using the ipad now. The cracks don't interfere with anything so no rush. It did make dh realize they are slippery and don't survive dropping. I won't use it without a case because I use it in the car and it doesn't stay in place without one. We will not get workouts in it looks like right now so when we get back I will be eager to get back at it. We have been walking a lot and the 5000 ft altitude makes for heavy breathing anyway.. we have a garage here. So nice for a rental!

Deb-I'm not taking meds for my cholesterol, but I did make a few dietary changes that I hope will help. I cut out all red meat, bacon, butter and high fat yogurt. I also started eating oat bran or oatmeal every day again and have been eating more salads. I'm hoping that the decrease in saturated fat and the increase in fiber will help improve my cholesterol readings.

Today was PHA Training. I really like that these workouts are slightly different from Cathe's other workouts. It's just enough variety to keep me interested.

Valerie, my children gave me a new iPad Pro Christmas and your message reminded me that I need to get the Apple Care insurance. I ordered a case that should arrive today. I always use a case with my devices for protection.

Deb and Judy, good luck to both of you in getting your cholesterol down. My doctor has continued to reduce my blood pressure medication to the minimum which has been a relief for me. Maybe he will stop it completely soon. He is being extremely cautious.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Today I did Ice Low Impact Sweat workout 1, 28 minutes, 177 calories . I followed this with some work with my yoga tune up balls using knee hab and some of the massage techniques on the shoulders and upper/mid back that took 35 minutes. I went out and finished up some errands since they are saying we will probably have the ice storm at the end of the week. I mad a quick stop at Sprouts even though I went there yesterday to pick up my favorite joint formula. They are having the 25% off supplements that will end after tomorrow. I am not out yet but this stuff works well. and that is a significant savings. Here is a link at Amazon.

It has more Hyaluronic Acid than the others I have used. The Wow brand that I used and was worried about it's origins is no longer available. I ad used it and Phi Naturals which is a US company but neither had as good of an ingredient list as this one. I definitely can tell the difference when I let time lapse between purchases. The last time it was only 3 days and my fingers joints started swelling and locking up. It is almost weird how much it helps.
2 weeks till I have my doctor appointment. I am hoping for the go ahead with more activity and to be able to vacuum and lift things again.

Lorie, last year we had to thaw our mail box which is a community box because it had ice frozen over it in a hard thick sheet. Someone had obviously tried to torch the ones on the other side because one box in particular was all black. We used warm water and a chisel. Having the car doors freeze shut is unpleasant. I used to carry some spray deicer with me when I went out. Now I just avoid going out. Curious how you like your new bar for your Jump Sport.

Judy, I thought It was pretty simple to come up with some different moves to use and modifications for the mat section of cardio slam. Some day I will try it how it is just to see if I like it.

Deb, I wouldn't want to climb in our attic here. It is so small and my grandson cut his head on roof nails sticking out of the ceiling when he was up there helping my husband. There is very little head space either. It is just over the garage. We have all of the Christmas stuff (that we could find) on the racks along the side wall of the garage. It is more convenient that way. Our last home had a huge triple garage with a huge attic space that I could walk around in. It was so much nicer for storage and things were organized and easy to find.

Valerie, 300 dollars is such a lot of money to replace the screen. I guess it depends on the ipad whether it is worth it or better to just get another one. My Galaxy Note 12 is large and cost a lot so I suppose I would pay that much to replace it. I have a cover on it but I think if it landed right it could break. I always used the otter box case that covered the screen on my ipads. They still have those cases on them. THey have survived grandchildren who have even dropped them a couple of times out of the car and on to the pavement. My daughter and her family have been sharing theirs with cracks all over for a long time and it still works.
