Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 2/28

wow, that's really interesting....never heard of those...but again, not a stamp collector. How long have you been doing it?

I had a stamp collection when I was a child, but I lost interest in it once I got out of high school. I started back up again last year when DH got back into it and we started going to shows. DH started as a child and kept up with it for the most part.

Deb, we're going to look for another rack but it isn't likely to help. we have a truck camper. it has a ladder up the back. that's the only place to put a rack, on the ladder. some people put bikes across the front grill of their truck... but talk about a dirty bug encrusted mess! these are people who don't intend to actually ride the bikes.

https://www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=e...ved=0ahUKEwi4_ea2-p_LAhVC1GMKHUsDB_IQoioIdTAK this is not our camper but similar. See the ladder on the back next to the door? that's where the rack has to go. so this is not a "normal" bike rack.

I was listening on the radio to the continued antics of our presidential candidates yesterday, with Rubio going down to Trump level to try and insult him. the business about wet pants, and small hands. OMG. I'm embarrassed for them. and it's real...you can't make stuff like this up!!!

I have lots going on today. I am leaving to help my daughter out in a bit so she can take her son to the doctor. I got up early and did Step Moves, 44 minutes, 269 calories. I don't know why the calorie burn was so low. Generally I get around 325 with this one. Maybe I just was so careful with the arm movements and I did stumble through some of the choreography since it has been a long time since I have done that one. I hurried out to the polls to vote and I locked my keys in my running car while looking at a couple coming out that were smiling and saying high to me. I cannot believe I did that !!:confused: I have not done anything like that in years. My husband has to work all night so he was sleeping. I couldn't get ahold of him so I had my grandson come and get me. Still, I had to ring the doorbell because my keys were in my car. I need a spare key for my purse. I am glad that is over with. Hopefully the rest of the day is better. I did not take the muscle relaxer the doctor gave me. I don't think I am going to. The shoulder feels better this morning. I think the less meds I take the better. At least now the nausea I was getting from the Advil is not there. That makes it better too. I will come back in awhile to read everyone's posts.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Low impact cardio and strength w/step live (53 min.). reminds me of AT from LIS. A great workout. I will definitely do this one again.

Deb, I have tried Charlotte Tilbury's Wonder Glow. I have received a couple compliments on my skin--one of them from a dental assistant who said my skin looked like porcelain with the sun shining in on it. Maybe she was just trying to soothe frayed nerves before my root canal got started--hah! But then a friend I had lunch with said my skin looked really lovely too. I decided to try it after reading a whole feature a couple months ago in Vogue about her products. It lasts quite awhile--I still have half a bottle. Sometimes I just use it alone over sunscreen, sometimes over a cheap BB cream from Garnier. I might try that foundation when I run out of the Garnier. I think the Wonder Glow was about 50$.

Diane Sue, what a way to start the day! Reminds me of a friend who was taking her at with her on a trip. She put the cat in the car, already warming up, went to get her luggage and lock up, and the cat had locked the car on her prowling around the driver's side panel. She had to call the police. I hope your shoulder improves soon. I found it hard to sleep when my shoulder was bothering me, even if I took something for the pain. It just seemed to bother me more at night than during the day.

Valerie, the media seem to be reveling in the antics of Trump et al. I am suspicious of career politicians because they just seem to be in it for the money and power and a soft, cushy life in perpetuity. Even a one-term congressman is fixed for life with a pension and health care. Disgusting to me! I also hate the "talking points" recited ad nauseam.

I did my civic duty and voted this morning. Not sure how it will go here in MA. I'm curious about Texas with the Trump-Cruz matchup. I think Bernie will have a bad day overall.

Hi to Lori, Judy, and Josie!

Linda, my shoulder does better if I sleep in the recliner. I have had to nap in the recliner upstairs to make up for lack of sleep at night.
I am sick of politics and antics to get the vote. I bet if they all had to use insurance and worry about pensions like the general public, they would make better changes. We have what I call the incredible disappearing retirement check.

Deb, that foundation sounds like it would be good for the skin. I am always afraid to try something new because my skin is so sensitive to stuff. I have had some that looked really good till I either got red patches or acne. I use Mac Studio Fix, I can't use their others. My grandaughters get all the stuff I try before I go back to that one.

As for politics, I don't discuss them. I belonged to a group that lasted for years and after some discussion and a couple of women that really got upset, it broke up the group. We had all moved to our own Facebook group. Only one is left besides me.

Good evening ladies!

This morning was CLB. I tweaked it a bit from the original by shorten the time inbetween sets. I like that it better this way and it certainly moves along. Lunch was Barre and Bands. The ladies love this one so we fit it in with 21D Barre Legs every week. When they get stuck on something it is set in stone! Lol!

Judy...I think that is great you and your DH both collect stamps. Very cool. I love the thigh & seat segment! Glad you like the pretzel. It is a good one for sure!

Valerie...that makes sense to try and get a different rack. This way you are not buying a new shifter everytime you mount your bikes. Hope you can find one that works. Isn't your rack fairly new? I thought Gillian was pretty decent and did a great job.

Deb...If I remember correctly I did not like For the Love of Cardio either. I think that is why I love the Live classes so much. Sometimes her class is struggling and modifiying right along with me! Then there are times I am amazed at the weight some of them use! Either way they motivate me. Every now and then when I do the Long & Strong Legs I skip the Barre since I do plenty during the week. I thought about the rating system on the spread sheet but never got around to it. Makes sense to do so. I have never heard of Charlotte Tilbury. I will need to look into this.

Diane Sue!!! That is a horrible way to start your day. Glad your grandson was available to help you out and glad your should feels better. Really sorry that you have to sleep in the recliner for it to be better. :( We do not talk much politics here. It comes up every now and then but we do not go on and on.

Lynda...that is a great workout! I am so glad you and Deb have subscribed to Live. After your comments on Wonder Glow I will certainly be looking into this.

Hi to Josie!!

Diane sue, what a totally crappy way to get your day going!
No obligation to weigh in on ANY issue, especially politics. As you will see, not everyone comments. IMO the current fuss in the media with the candidates is not really about politics or issues.... it seems more like Animal House every day. where's John Belushi ??
I have sensitive skin on my face. rosacea although it has gone into remission or something. I don't do anything but use estee lauder foundation, and a coffee berry night cream the Derm recommended years ago. wash with Cetaphil. I find the less I do, the better.

Lori we bought a new bike rack for our car. we can't use the same one on the camper. We've had this one for 6,7 years but the new mt bikes have a differently shaped top tube /drop tube, plus we have different frame sizes. the mens bike is different from the womens, enough to make it hard to get both on the same rack. makes it complicated to hang them. but yes, we can't afford to total out a gear shift every time we carry them somewhere so need to be sure about what went on.
I'd never seen Gillian Anderson in anything before . I liked the character she played, made me think of her as "male" emotionally. I'm going to post this as its getting very windy and I think the power might go out.

I am sorry I had to post each reply separately. I just have never figured that out when using my tablet and phone. I subscribed to Cathe Live today. I printed up the PDF (that was quite a few pages even on both sides) Now to figure out what I can use right now :)

Valerie, my daughter brings me stuff from her office all of the time to try. Most of the time she recommends Cetaphil or Cerave. I make my own foaming face cleanser with fractionated coconut oil, tea tree oil, geranium oil, water, and a little castile soap, I moisturize with virgin coconut oil unrefined and geranium oil mixed. I have been doing this for several months and it seems to work well. I think just getting rid of all of the emulsifiers, preservatives, etc. makes a big difference. Most sunscreens aggravate my skin.

Lori, I think that the recliner just works because I am not so likely to lie on my side. Hopefully it improves quickly. I guess I get a little worried of someone being offended with the politics. My husband loves to debate politics. I am sure when he went to vote there was a lot of jokes coming out :)

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Cathe Live Barbell Upper Body. This is a great workout, gets in there good! I had to have 3 different BB weights, but that is ok, since I had them preset. Cathe does give you time to add or take away plates in between. Freezing rain before we had a small amount of snow....the roads may be awful.

Judy, it's great that you have an interest that lets you do things together.

Valerie, I can see how it would be difficult to put bikes on the back of that camper. Too bad they don't have a bike rack that is integral to that ladder...now that would be something useful.

Diane Sue, that must have been awful! How does the car door lock if the keys are in the ignition? Glad your shoulder feels better. I have almost given up on foundations, I think they make me look yellow....Nice to hear that your daughter recommends Cerave...that is my favorite face wash and moisturizer. My husband loves to talk about politics too.

Lynda, I went over to Makeup Alley to look at the Tillbury foundation, not good ratings at all. I always filter to the "over 56" level to see what they have to say. I didn't look at the Wonder Glow though....will go over there in a bit. I did look it up on Amazon and no listings under $100! It must be very popular. Do you like the Garnier BB cream? I think one thing we can all agree on, no matter where you stand in the political arena, all politicians are only out for themselves, they don't care about the people they are supposed to be representing. No more political statements from me!

Lori, so great that you have the Ladies liking barre.....If I do Long & Strong Legs, I may have to skip the barre part! I was pathetic. :). I wanted to start a simple rating of the workouts, figuring after doing so many, I would forget which ones I liked a lot etc. I even put a short note...."too many modifications" etc.

Hi to Josie!

A workout, and agility class later, luckily after the roads are salted and have been plowed etc.

Take care,

Deb, there are so many bike shapes, sizes, types. .... hard to make something that fits everything. Our road bikes fit on the ladder well, as did our OLD mt bikes. the new bikes are bigger, wider, and the tube shapes for "his" and "hers" are different. I just wish we knew what happened so we could be more careful. Bike was fine Tuesday, hung them after our ride, drove to the campground, and the next morning I rode 5 feet and saw the shift handle was out of place. the rack is "added on" to the ladder.

I ran on the treadmill yesterday, half an hour. had gone about 15 min and the power went out. came back on but I didn't restart immediately. when it seemed like it was staying on, I did another 15 min, and then core 1. we lost internet, phone service sometime over night and this morning . .
Diane sue, I never thought about locking the car while it was running when no one is in the drivers seat.

Lynda, I forgot to say, we started that series about the wrongly convicted murderer in Manitowoc. either of us liked it much so we didn't finish. My brain doesn't pick up that much of a mid west accent in Wisconsin. some expressions and words peculiar to the area, yes. I think it gets more pronounced the further north you go.

I guess my view of politicians is a bit more generous. it's a job that needs filling, but I wouldn't want to do it myself. I agree they have insulated themselves from difficult areas , like health insurance and pensions. I couldn't do it no matter how great the benefits.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did both Sweat workouts (46:13). I wanted to stream the 80s cardio with low impact blasts, but it just kept stopping. Is streaming affected by the weather? The wind is howling here today and DH thought that might be the problem.

Deb, thanks for the reviews of that foundation. Guess I will skip that. I like the Garner BB cream, not least because it is affordable. We never did get any snow--just rain, and then it started to get cold and windy. I like to think there must be a few politicians out there who really do care about what they are doing, but I am pretty cynical too.

Diane Sue, I think my skin is pretty insensitive. Never had any trouble with retin-A which I have been using for years. I don't think I could sleep in a recliner. I'm too restless and move around a lot.

Lori, are you getting this wind? I hope the saying is true about March coming in like a lion and going out a lamb.

Valerie, I don't know where Manitowoc county is, but those accents were pretty broad to my ear. I thought it was interesting that the prosecutor and the defense lawyers didn't have accents at all. Like most people, I found the documentary enthralling and infuriating. I felt so sorry for Brendan and the way he was pushed into a false confession. It was so obvious.

Hi to Judy and Josie!

Good afternoon ladies!

This morning was CLX Burn Circuits 2 and lunch was SB Arms. I am at work right now and may not be able to post later tonight. I only breezed through your posts but will respond when I can. I leave for Charlotte in the morning so not sure when I will be back on. As usually I have not packed a thing. I am one of those that always wait to the night before.

Lynda...I did notice your comment about the wind and yes it is unbelievable today!!!!!

Today I did Cathe Live Lower Body Burn, 52 minutes, 294 calories. I chose this one because it is lighter in weights. I omitted the overhead press though. I then did Lean Legs and Abs, chair/firewalker, abs, and stretch, 28 minutes, 77 calories. I kind of liked the intense quick cardio a the start before lifting :) I had to modify a bit on Lean legs Abs with the overhead press too. I usually like this one because I like doing abs with resistance.
Last night I did Cathe Live Crush it Low Impact Live 34 minutes, 200 calories and You tube Sarah Beth Yoga Hands Free Yoga, 27 minutes, 77 calories. I wanted to Check out Cathe Live before I got up this morning to do my workout. I could have done better with Crush it but I avoided the overhead stuff with a dumbbell. Now I have to figure out cardio with out all of the upper weight work added. I saw several step cardio workouts that just called for a bench so I am guessing that would work ? I had to stop and switch to my HR watch and transmitter because the HR7 Bluetooth was going crazy with 198 HR 19 minutes in. I guess streaming and using HDMI with the larger screen TV was too much for it.

Deb, my car was running so I guess it thought it was okay to lock the door. It won't let me lock the doors when the keys are inside with the engine off. It is a little Chevy Spark and you can hardly hear the engine running. I like Cerave better than Cetaphil myself. Cereve has a nice eye cream too. I sometimes have my hands crack around my fingers and I was using Aquaphor. My daughter asked why I didn't just use Vaseline because it was cheaper and the same thing. It works :) I can use it and not have skin issues when I touch my face. That goes the same for the coconut oil.

Valerie, I never thought about the engine running and the doors locking either. Now I know :) I probably would have just stopped the workout there and did something different. I hate interrupted power. We get a lot of it. I often wonder why I bother going back and resetting the clocks on things like the VCR we hardly use but, I can't stand to have it flashing like a neon sign at me.

Lynda, I used Retin A in varying % for a long time. Seriously it seemed I was red and irritated most of the time and I wasn't sure what benefit I was getting. You are lucky nothing seems to bother you. My daughter brought me a jar of Neutrogena Hydra Gel recently. I tried it and for several days I thought it was awesome. My skin was softer with no dry patches. But one morning I woke up with red patches around my eyes and they were all puffed up. So, I gave up on it. I can use the Vivite products that they sell in their office. I think they are expensive even whe I can get them half off. How did you like the sweat workouts? It is really windy here too. I have often wondered if weather affects streaming. You wouldn't think that wind would though. I had a bit of some stalls streaming today. I wondered if it was because I was doing it through the tv with the laptop. Last night I just used my old laptop which does not have a place to use an HDMI cable. I did not have a problem last night. We upgraded to 100 mbps but I know when I do the check it is not near that high.

Lori, I forgot to mention that I realized after going over the Cathe Live workout list that I had printed two copies. That is why I was saying it was a lot of pages. You put a lot of work into them.

Good morning!

Yesterday I did Cathe Live Cardio Core Circuit. This is really good, very easy to modify if needed. If I couldn't I just easily substituted low impact jacks. The standing core work between rounds is great. She even sneaks all of them in again at the end. I had my cousins dogs for about 3 hours yesterday, OMG....4 crazy dogs ... it was a madhouse. :)

Valerie, you loose power frequently in your area. Is there something about where you are located?

Lynda, I will try that BB cream. I think the wind may affect the streaming, if your cable is above ground. Ours is connected to the telephone pole in my neighbors yard, so I would think high winds may affect the connection.

Lori, have a safe trip!

Diane Sue. is that workout you did: Lean Legs& Abs chair/ firewalker abs a premix? How are you liking the Live workouts? I liked that Crush it one too...It's a combo of the ICE Low impact workouts. Still can't figure out how you lock the car when the keys are in the ignition ?

Hi Josie & Judy!

A workout, then finish the dog's food, and maybe groom Kylee, finish Keegan's grooming. Another day "going to the dogs"! :)

Take care,

I was born, raised in Milwaukee. left in mid 70's. Manitowoc is a short distance north, maybe 75 miles? When I talk to my sister I hear an accent, but I don't have it myself anymore, though DH says I have it when I return from a visit. somehow just could not get into that story.

I steer clear of Retin A. products. they weren't recommended to people with rosacea. I had some laser treatment about 10 years ago and it is almost like it cured it. no issues at all, and I think my skin looks quite good. I use foundation with a mild sunscreen daily. I don't argue with success and use minimal products. DH also has rosacea and they've given him a retin A product to use. I don't know if ideas have changed about it.

We have lots of trees in this area. wet soil, wind....trees and limbs go down a lot. lots of alders that lose their tops easily. much less often than it used to be as our general area has built up more, and when we get an outage, it's corrected more quickly. This was a short outage probably 5-10 seconds. doesn't matter though, you still need to reset everything! Often when it blinks off and back on again it's a signal to close things like computers down, grab what's needed from the frig, find the lanterns and flashlights. our Internet and phone service is via the cable TV folks. their whole system was down for a while. most of it over night, didn't notice anything until the early am when we couldn't connect. a pretty minor interruption. this has been a benign winter, just wet. Had a thunder and lightning storm this morning something we get in spring. everything is blooming, clouds of pollen blowing off the cedars in clouds, looks like smoke. we have pollen all over everything.

ETA Wow... Mitt Romney just made a very(!!) harsh indictment of the Donald and what nominating him could mean. I only heard part of it, but one of the most direct and critical speeches I've ever heard delivered. I want to listen to the whole thing.

DH complained about the signal loss to the TVstation here. last night we watched the channel for several hours, news, weather etc, and there was not a flicker. the same channel that went down completely as soon as the Oscars started. they insist they don't drop their signal.

Just therapy work yesterday. taking a vehicle in for service and will look at bike racks for campers to see if there's anything that will work better.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Live Giant Sets (42 min.). Great workout, although I did not do the burpees. I just did a load of pushups instead--some big girl, some on my knees. I did manage to do 8 lbs. throughout the workout with Cathe. I'm pretty sure the wind had an impact on streaming yesterday.

Deb, sounds like a canine carnival for you. I hope they all had fun together and no fighting over toys. BTW, that toy you sent to me is still in great shape and we do tug of war or high leaps to catch it regularly. The nice thing about the BB cream is that it has sunscreen in it.

Diane Sue, I love the Sweat workouts. My favorite cardio from the Ice dvds.

Valerie, you really do seem to have a lot of power outages where you live. Of course, you also have much milder weather than we do here. Always a trade-off I guess.

Off to check Huffington Post and read the Mitt's insults about Trump. Later this afternoon, we'll get Trump's insults to Mitt. What a circus!
