Hey there,

The trial was great...Keegan had a clean run, no points off and took First Place in his class! Also got the third leg for his Novice Agility title....so much fun. Here is a link if anyone is interested...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0j3Ln_Fv ... load_owner

Garance. Lori, you can certainly train to do this with your dogs...as a matter of fact, you both own breeds that excel in agility...now me, I am one of the crazy ones....as Valerie can attest, fox terriers ( or any terriers for that matter), have a mind of their own! Labs are great in agility, and any herding breed is the best....that is why the top dogs are always Border Collies...

No trial entry today, however we do have to go to the arena to tear down, bring the stuff back to the training hall etc....

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did Hard Strikes, premix 17 (45:06). Also went for a walk with Max after dinner.

Deb, I tried your link but all I could get was a little listing for Youtube. You must be so proud to have trained Keegan to be this responsive if he has a mind of his own.

Busy weekend here with all of the parties. It has been comfortable--in the 70s--and dry, thank goodness. My younger son is here for the weekend. Not a happy camper. He partially tore his ACL playing basketball and he broke up with his girlfriend a week ago. I think her lack of sympathy or helpfulness because of his ACL may have been decisive.

Ready for GOT finale, Lori?

Good afternoon!

Such a nice weekend here in New England. Nice to see the sun after all the rain.

Chester and I went for a 3 mile walk yesterday and today. Today I also did Insanity max interval plyo. Josie...what a workout! I did manage to do the entire workout and only stopped once during one of the pushups. My shoulders were done in! I think for meso 3 i am going to incorporate more insanity workouts. Going to give them another shot. Perhaps I was not in the mood for them last time I tried them. :)

Deb...awesome videos. Again thank you so much for sharing. I was like valerie...had no clue what the agility was all about. Are you the handler? Because that person certainly gets a workout!

Garance...not sure if I will watch game of thrones tonight. My husband just started with the first season so I do not want to spoil it for him!!! Hope your son feels better soon. Both emotionally and physically.

Have a great night!

what a cutie!!! yes, I can attest foxes have minds of their own. some breeds are so obedient but foxes... sometimes, but only if they feel like it!

Lynda.,.. maybe a blessing in disguise. an ACL injury is not anywhere near the end of the world (don't know if repairs are done for partial tears) but maybe it provided a good handy way for someone who was not committed to make an exit. I hate to see people get all caught up in the energy of a relationship, and not pay attention to whether they really want to be there to begin with. I'm not sure I'm stating that clearly, but a lot of young women are in love with the idea of being in love. when push came to shove, she wasn't.

major garden work this weekend, and DH is having his last call weekend. some more weekday nights, but the last entire weekend.

Hi Everyone,

Deb-Congratulations to you and Keegan! Agility looks like alot of fun. If I had a dog, I would consider getting involved in that kind of activity.

Garance-Sorry about your son, I hope he is feeling much better soon.

Lori-I never tried the insanity workouts-they sound pretty intense!

Valerie-I used to be on call and it spoiled many weekends, I bet your DH will be so happy to be done with that!

Yesterday I did Ride in the morning then spent the rest of the day working at FIL's house.

Today I did a 90 minute Spinerval. I ordered the "Troy Lite" Barbell set and a weighted vest. I'm reading the STS Users Guide tonight too :)

Good morning,

I did Cardio Coach #4 this morning...one little girl got us up at 3:45 puking...ugh....I figured I might as well stay up and do something productive.

Thanks for all the nice comments about Keegan's trial runs this weekend....and yes, that is me doing the handling....it is so much fun..when they do what they are supposed to do...some are so funny to watch...they go nuts and run around the ring not paying attention to the direction, just make up their own course...Keegan has only done that once...and not at an AKC event..thank goodness..:)...

Lori, how long does it take you and Chester do walk 3 miles? With either of mine it would be forever...Yes, I am the handler, it is a burst of energy, it only lasts 45 -50 seconds though...

Garance, same question as Valerie...do they do anything for a partial ACL tear? How is your leg, seems like you are already back to regular workouts.

Valerie, I bet your DH is looking forward to weekends that are "free" and no calls breaking up whateve you are trying to do. He is inching his way to retirement isn't he?

Judy, you are all set for STS! Did you do the 1 Rep Max stuff? I found it to be overwhelming..did some, but not all. Like others, I just made sure I was picking a challenging weight, logged so I knew to up it when it was too easy...

Hi to Josie...Countdown!!

Work, then no class tonight..(YAY!)...

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Burn Sets Ch, Ba, Sh (50:43). I also did a 45 min. walk with Max last night after dinner. Perfect weather.

Deb, loved Keegan in his groove. The sclerotherapy doesn't seem to have any lingering effects. I do wear a compression stocking on my lower leg for several days. Today is my mammogram. I feel like I am constantly going to the doctor or the dentist. My son is having surgery in a couple weeks to repair the ACL. He tore his other ACL in high school, his senior yr., also playing basketball. He was just short of 1000 pts.--a really fine shooter. He knows what he's in for in terms of rehab. He recovered enough to be the varsity goalkeeper in soccer at Gettysburg from his first ACL. He seemed fine about the breakup. He said that his credit card bill is a lot easier to handle without a girlfriend who expects him to pay for everything. He also had four adoring female cousins around him at the party who think he's dreamy, so I think he's fine. He says summer in Boston is a great season for women in their sundresses.

Lori, the finale of GOT last night is really awful, too. Theon aka Reek is mutilated. An article in EW about the red wedding was very interesting. Apparently Martin now gets hate mail about the series in addition to the hate mail from the books.

Good afternoon ladies!

This morning I did another Insanity workout PlyoCardio Circuit 42 minutes. So far I am liking this round. Thanks Josie for posting your workouts. Otherwise not sure if I would have picked it up again. This time around I am stronger and a little more fit. I am thinking this is making a huge difference for me.

Tonight I am diving right into Meso 3. Going to need to be aggressive to finish by July 2nd! I have made it into a challenge. So we will see how this goes.

Garance...I have not watched it but may do so on my IPAD tonight while we are in bed. I will use my headsets so not to ruin anything for DH. I heard that this last episode was not well received. I am so surprised that it did not end the way I thought it would. Which would have people rejoicing! Not mad at GRRM!!!! I am sure you know what I mean. I am about 1/2 way through book 5. Will be sad when it ends and I have to wait for book 6. Oh well. My next book is going to be Jeffrey Deaver's new book "The Kill Room" #10 of the Lincoln Rhymes series. I have read the first 9 so looking forward to this. - Funny about the Sundresses!

Deb...Again really enjoyed the videos. It takes Chester and me 51 minutes to do the 3 miles. I have a GPS fitness app that I use so I can keep track. However, we do stop twice for a 5 minute swim so 41 minutes if we did not stop.

Judy...I did not do the 1rm. Like Deb I write down what weights I am using and always make sure I am challenging myself. When do you think you will be starting?

Valerie...Congrats to your DH and to you too!

Have a great afternoon all!

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did a 50 minute Spinerval and a Coremax premix. It's been raining all day, so I had to stay inside. I'm planning on doing a few 1 RMs tonight and then tomorrow will be a rest day. I'm trying to take at least one day off a week and I may take a few days off before I start STS.

Deb & Lori- I am kind of overwhelmed by the number of 1 RMs there are. I am going to do some, but probably not all. I may end up doing only the 5 star ones this time. I am planning to start in July, possibly the last week of June if I have everything set up.

Garance-I'm glad to hear that your son is feeling better about things.

Hi to Valerie & Josie!

Judy

DH is pretty excited about retiring. I think he may have no issues adjusting. we have so much time off this summer it's not going to be a huge change overall. might be harder on me than on him. I'm used to having plenty of alone time.

we did a 30 mile ride this morning. not record time because we took a few stops to look at flowers but pretty fast. we plan to ride 2x a week as long as weather is good. I am NOT getting a sore butt with this bike. still not sure about BIG mileage but I can definitely do more than 30.

Judy, give 1rm a try. I did not find it useful and like Deb & Lori, I chose to carefully record weight used on work sheets. I keep good records of whether to go up, down or stay the same. it seemed when doing a whole string of related exercises fatigue has a lot to say about the right weight to use. a lot of the moves were new to me, and I went lighter until I was confident I had the move right.

Good morning,

I did a KCM this morning, nice workout. Just enough for me at 4:00 am.

Garance, will your son have the surgery at your place so that he has someone to assist with recovery?

Lori, Chester is a very lucky boy! Walking and swimming, what more could a lab ask for?

Judy, same as what I did on the 1RM's....I did a bunch of them, but not all. Way too much for me...plus, some turned out so high in weight, that when I went to do the workout, I couldn't finish a set, and had to drop down anyway. I kept thinking I must have done them incorrectly.

Valerie, I am so envious of your DH..and Josie as well!

Work, no classes tonight...yay for that...

Take care,

Good Morning,

Valerie-Great that you got 30 miles in-that is a good distance!
I often think about what it will be like when DH retires and is home all the time, I do think that will be quite an adjustment for me, as I am also used to lots of time to myself.

Hi to Deb,Lori, Garance & Josie! Have a great day everyone :)

Judy

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Pure Spice (57 min.).

This rain just makes me want to stay in bed in the morning and snooze away to the sound of raindrops. But once I drag myself up and get going, I'm okay.

No, Deb, my son has an orthopedic surgeon in Boston, so he will have his surgery there. He's pretty nimble on crutches. He broke his leg skiing a few years ago and somehow managed to get around with just his roommate helping him at times.

Judy, I didn't do the 1rm either. The first time I did STS I did each week twice and figured out from the first week whether I needed to go up or down. The thing is, Cathe does so many different exercises I don't really know how you can do 1rm for all of them--e.g., the leg slides with a weight seem impossible to calculate. I also think when you do a workout, the fatigue sets in after awhile, and you might be able to do 70% of your 1rm on the first set of an exercise, but not the following ones.

I need plenty of time alone, but I have an office to retreat to where I can do my writing, research. I don't think DH will retire completely because he's a farmer and farmers are always doing something outdoors.

Good afternoon ladies!

Last night I did the first disc of Meso 3 and liked it. I did have to fast forward a few times becuase I felt the time inbetween was just a little long for me. Other than that I really enjoyed it and it was no big deal to fast forward.

This morning was Insanity Cardio Power and Resistance 40 minutes. I finally remembered to put my heart rate monitor on and boy my heart was pumping!

Tonight if there is no rain going to try and walk Chester (no swim). Poor thing is miserable when it rains. Yes Deb! He is a very luck boy and he is very spoiled. Sometimes I just do not feel like going for a walk but I know how much he needs it and enjoys it so I just try an bump it out.

Have a great day all!!!

Judy, I did STS like Lynda did. first time through I did each week twice. I might have done that two times, don't remember for sure anymore. I did it at least 2 more times with one week iintervals. and like she said, if you do an exercise at the beginning of a long run, it may require a very different weight than if a move comes after an hour.

I looked at the list of 1rm exercises, did a few, decided there were too many. I was new to weight training. Decided I'd start the program instead.
If the move was a new one , and for me most were, I went lighter until I felt solid. If I finished a first set and I felt I definitely could have done more, I'd increase right away. If I couldn't finish or felt a little uncontrolled, I'd reduce it right away. at some point (way later on) I hurt my right shoulder by going a little too heavy. it took a long time to get better, so I'm more careful if I'm wavering all over.
I printed workout sheets and wrote in weight used. If increase /decrease was in order, I marked it up or down arrow. If weighted gloves, weight plus a G. very simple. for band work, I'd record the color.

Yoga this morning. upper body "something" today. tomorrow will be riding or hiking, depends on weather forecast. Judy, I am in awe of you being to do indoor cycling the length of time you do. 45 minutes is about all I can stand. outdoors is different for me.

Lynda hope your son does well. I didn't use crutches. I felt clumsier with them, so I kept them for show and mostly went without. outdoors, I used hiking poles. worked better for me.

Hi Everyone,

Lynda & Valerie- I like the idea of doing each week of STS twice! I might try that.
I've hurt my shoulder a couple of times before, so I will be going light to start with.

I do love having a spinning bike at home, but I miss outdoor riding. It has taken a while for me to get used to all of the indoor riding but I am addicted to it now.

Lori-I love my heart rate monitor. I'm using a Garmin now, but have used Polar in the past. I have an app on my phone, "digifit" that works with the heart rate monitor too. I really get carried away with my gadgets and data collection

I'd like to do another mountain bike race this summer, there is one at the end of June and another in August. If everything is stable with FIL, I'm going to try to do at least one of those. He is a bit unstable at the moment so it's hard for me to plan things. I am trying to get a visiting nurse set up, waiting for a call back.

My weighted vest came today-I think I am going to like it!

Hi to Deb & Josie!

Good Night,

Judy

Good morning,

Grace ( iTread) kicked my butt this morning, or it could have been the leg part of KCM yesterday, my legs were like lead on the treadmill. I couldn't wait for it to be over.
Work, then class tonight....brining a dog shaped cake to celebrate Keegan getting his title...

Judy, "a woman after my own heart"...I am a data recorder/collector too....ask the others, I am obsessed sometimes with logs and stuff...Now you made me want to look for that ap..will it work on an iPod? Not really right? I don't have an iPhone...still a crappy Blackberry, that is what work provides..

Garance, we have been having rain off and on all week too.....this is what it should have been like in April...not June. You should look into agility classes with Max...I'm sure there are some in your area...he would be great...

Valerie, I'm with you on indoor cycling...I have no interest in even trying, but I like biking outdoors....we have yet to get our bikes out...it seems like something is always more pressing on the weekend, which is not really true...just need to make the time...

Lori, those Insanity workouts are all high impact correct? I have seen some clips on BB and they seem....well, insane!

Hi to Josie, where are you girl?

Take care,

Good Morning,

Deb- I think Digifit will work on an ipod:

Digifit | Heart rate monitor for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad

Here is what is recorded, I hope the link works:

MyDigifit Login

I am using it on an iPhone. I had a Blackberry too, was going to wait for the new Blackberry but decided on an iPhone 4s. I also use Training Peaks and Garmin Connect, and can upload a workout from my Garmin to all 3 sites. Digifit is fun, but has issues so I always use it with my Garmin, not as a replacement. I had to buy a little connector that fits into the iPhone so that Digifit can read my heart rate monitor. There are also heart rate straps, Wahoo is one, that you can buy if you are only using Digifit and don't have a watch with a strap. With Digifit, you can download the free app, but will have to upgrade to get better functionality. The upgrades were only a few dollars.

I'll check back later, need to get started on my workouts
