Upper eyelid surgery

Hello,

I was born with heavy, fatty, upper eyelids that have always bothered me and now that I'm getting older (44) I'm begining to notice some weakness of the upper lids. For the longest time I have been doing some research and considering removing a conservative amount of fat from my upper and lids and now correcting the weakness of the lids, but having a hard time deciding who would be more qualify to perform this procedure between a board certify plastic surgeon or a board certify oculoplastic surgeon? Thanks!

I need to know to! I'm in the same boat. However id like my mouth corners filled in as well. So imagine. I have droopy eyes and mouth lol. I'm gonna keep checking to see if anyone answers u

Is your vision affected by your eyelid weakness, (do you feel like you have to open your eyes wide to see ). If this is the case see an oculoplastic you could poss get some of cost covered by insurance. Do some checking around and ask someone in a surgery center they usually work with both plastic docs. Hth

At Kaiser there are cosmetic surgeons on staff that also perform other procedures, I had one fix a mole that was on my nose and he was a facial plastic surgeon. I was very pleased with the whole experience. I look great. So, you might look at some of the larger hospitals as well as surgeons with their own facilities. I did ask at the lobby, usually the surgeons will have patients that are happy to talk to you (of course, you run the risk of those being biased). I would do it again and I am thinking (in the future.) about going back to that surgeon for the procedure you are talking about.

I don't personally know the qualitative difference of an oculoplastic surgeon, I would assume that means they have much more education/experience regards the eye itself, not just cosmetic issues (including maintaining nerve health, proper drainage, in addition to appearance.) I'm sorry I wasn't more help.

I have a problem with droopiness in the other opposite direction, under the eyes. I have always had bags, they are heriditary, but the bags look a lot different after 40 than they do when you are 20, the area only gets weaker and looks worse. Although, I workout, I look tired all the time. If I had enough money, this would definitely be the area I would have done. I hope you find a doctor you can trust, you will have to update us when your finished with your procedure
