Hardcore Fitness Maniac Hotties for 1/19

I didn't stretch last night - honestly because I forgot and dh and I got involved in watching "24". I paid for it this morning. My right side (obliques, IT band and hip area) was so tight that it hurt to do cardio. I hate this, it's really getting old to feel like I'm 100 and not 43.

I did Amy Bento's Kickbox Surge but only did the first 3 kickbox combos and surges. I couldn't give my all and just felt like I was going through the movements. I quit after 40 minutes and wanted to do Yoga Stretch but couldn't get the effing DVD to work. My DVD players suck, I have two and it's a crap shoot to see which one will work. I asked dh for a decent one for my birthday. He told me to just go get one next time I'm out. I'll see, I hate spending money on stuff like that. So I couldn't do the stretch and by the time I got done messing around with the DVD players I only had 10 minutes to stretch. So I just stretched out on my own. I'll do the same tonight for sure.

Cardio Stats:
40 minutes
2 minutes below zone
11 minutes in zone
28 minutes above zone
324 calories burned.

Not too bad considering how I felt. I love this workout, it's really fun

I'm seriously contemplating taking an entire month off after this rotation. I'll have to see how I feel by the time I get done with it. I can't keep feeling this way, I'm so uncomfortable with my tight and sore muscles. They have been overtrained for too long. :(

Debbie-I'm sorry you are having those issues. It is no fun when your body makes you feel old. Are you taking any supplements to help, glucosamine perhaps?
Diane Sue gave a recommendation for a good one from vitacost. I need to get it as well. I wish I had some advice to give you

Yesterday, I did cardio core circuit from the shock cardio. I chose the express premix and let me tell you, it's enough. I really like the workout and may use it as a metabolic circuit in the future since all the cardio bursts are about 30 sec. It's nice to do some core work also.

Today is weights and I still have doms in my butt from Saturday's squats. I have been dealing with tightness as well. Also, my knees are crunching quite a bit and I feel pretty stiff in the morning. I have been stretching but I guess I need more. :(

Well we are quite the group! I woke up with my shoulder aching, annoying but not too bad, so since it was cardio I went for it anyway. I choose HIIT 30/30 adding half of 40/20, and just let me tell you my shoulder was aching so bad even doing that I can't tell you how many times the thought of turning it off and walking away entered my mind! But I got through it, subbing out any squat thrusts moves and am now considering a visit to the doctor. Darn thing aches like a tooth ache.

Debbie
- I feel you r pain, just else where! Great job getting as far as you did! Also I hate when equipment problems screw up a workout!

Theresa
- My hamstrings are still sore from Butts & Gutts on FRIDAY!

Theresa - I have been taking Glucosomine Sulfate for YEARS. I also take L-Glutomine to help try and repair my muscles but nothing helps other then stretching. I just ache all over. It's horrible to feel like this.

Linda - I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder, but I do think you need to go to the doctors. Heck, I probably should go as well. I just hate going and I'm sure you do too. I really thought the massages would help you, but it doesn't seem to be, huh? Nice going with the workout and sticking it out.

All you ladies talking about recipes yesterday, thanks! I'm going to check out that website and see if I can find some low carb snacks. I'm always looking for something new.

Morning Maniacs -

I wasn't going to post this morning cuz I overslept and had a lousy workout, but now that I see everyone elses posts....I guess I can post.

I overslept......so I had to cut my workout short. Did NOT feel like working out. My pain continues to flare horribly also. I did Brooke Benten's Cardio Pump - Cardio Kickbox Kettlebell Fusion workout. Max HR was 150 and workout was 60". I burned 496 calories. I only used my 10 pound KB cuz that's what she said to use, but it wasn't heavy enough for me. Next time I'll use heavier.

Hope we all get to feeling better soon.

- Yes, I hate going to the doctors. Part of me thinks I am just suppose to suck it up. Oh, I think my massages helps, and that without him I'd be much worse off. Actually the problem I see my massage therapist for is my hands going numb when I sleep at night, and he does help with that. I think this is something completely different going on with my shoulder. And right now I feel the same way you do that I should just take an entire month off. Just wish I wasn't so darn heavy right now. But I am working on that, I have DH taking my measurements each week so I have someone else to answer too.

Debbie-how long have you had the tightness? does the glucosamine and glutamine help at all?

Linda-how long have you had the shoulder trouble?

My shoulder issue started out of the blue. I cannot think of any instance where I did anything to injure myself. The knees are just very crunchy. I have felt very tight since I started upping my weight. I wonder if I should just stay moderate and increase much slower than I am currently.

Theresa, I've had the tightness about the last 2 months but its really bad now. Before it was just glute and hamstring tightness, then it travelled up to my mid section. I don't know if the glucosomine or glutamine is helping, I've been taking them forever and the pain is here every day. I also have shoulder problems (right shoulder) but somehow it isn't getting worse.

I just think we all neglect stretching and eventually it catches up with us. I think that's my problem with my lower body. I think that with the way we all workout, we need more then just 5 minutes of cooldown and stretches.

My workout today was Shock Card HiiT 40/20 30 minutes and I burned 277 calories, max HR was 179. Then I did MMA Boxing Heavy Bag segment 18 minutes and burned 176 calories Max HR was 165, after this I did Insane Abs 33 minutes and burned 256 calories Max HR 167. I finished with Kelly Coffey's 30 minutes to fitness bootcamp bonus stretch and some foam roller for 24 minutes and 89 calories. Total calories today was 798. Workout was 1 hr 45 minutes

Debbie, is the glucosmine chondroitin in tablet form or gel caps. I order online to get gel caps because what I was taking from the store wasn't working and I tried putting them in vinegar to see what the desolution was like and they just sat there. I had used the gel caps before and I noticed the difference when I bought the tablets in the store.
Edited to add that the use of the foam roller and stretching is really helping me. The rolling does not hurt near like it did when I started back to really using it.

Diane Sue - Mine are in gel caps. I get them from Vitamin Shoppe. I'm gonna order the foam roller right now!! I keep forgetting!

ETA: I just ordered a foam roller! I cannot wait to get it!!! Now I have to find the sheets Linda sent me on how to use it.

Linda, I had a shoulder issue about a year ago. I had to give up kickboxing and my heavy bag for quite awhile. I laid off shoulder work for awhile then went back really light for quite awhile. Things like triceps dips and push ups hurt. It took a few months but it doesn't hurt at all right now. I will say I felt it a little when I started Insanity upper body on some of the moves but once I lowered a bit I was fine. I still make an effort when I use the foam roller to do the shoulder areas and do some shoulder opening and stretching with my yoga strap everyday.

For any of you with hamstring and hip issues I know I have said it before but I really do like that bonus 18 min stretch on Kelly Coffey's Bootcamp workout. That one has helped me a lot.

Theresa, I think Circuit Blast is a good one for a metabolic circuit. I used it last week for one. Thought about it today but really wanted to fit some Heavy Bag and Abs in.

Lora, glad you went ahead and checked in;) I hope you can find some relief from that pain.

Diane Sue, I just went to check Netlfix and of course they don't have this workout. :( They have about 6 of hers but not this one. I'll check ebay, I'm willing to try anything that brings me relief. I just ordered a foam roller!

Debbie, another nice thing about Kelly's 30 Min to Fitness Bootcamp is that it has a cardio only premix that is around 24 minutes and burns some decent calories:D

Debbie-I just got my foam roller on Saturday, I rolled everything out and it hurts (in a good way). My low back was sore for 2 days. I think it will be a great addition especially for the lower body :D

DIane Sue-thanks for the idea on the bootcamp stretch. I completely forget I have those.

Thanks Diane Sue! You enabler! I ordered one from Ebay. I'll try it as soon as I get it. And I like the shorter cardio workout idea too. I think I need shorter cardio for a while.

Cool! I can't wait to try mine. I love Pigeon Pose because it hurts so good. It really gets in my glutes and stretches it well but hurts at the same time. LOL!

Diane Sue,

I know you try a lot of different recipes. I forgot I the Muscle Chow book when you mentioned it, that is bad that I forgot, anyway have you made the malted bombs in it and if so what do you think of them?

Roselyn, yes I did make the Malted bombs. They were good but not as good as the other ones:) There are a lot of good recipes in that book and most aren't that hard to make.

Linda-how long have you had the shoulder trouble?
Theresa

Theresa - the numbness in my hands has been going on for years. The recent pain has developed in the past month and 1/2 or so. I think P90X may have set the ball in motion, but I think the straw that broke the camel back was when I was moving furniture with DH out of my basement and into the basement. My basement stair are kind of narrow and take 180 degree turn, so it makes getting large things in and out of there really difficult. During that I felt some real pain shoot through the shoulder.

- That is great advice about giving up all shoulder work for awhile (before I can't do anything). How do you roller your shoulders with the foam roller? My pain is through the front of my shoulder.
