Hey girl, here's my initial review on the epilator as promised!
Ok, so I got the epilator yesterday. It's an Emjoi "Light Caress" corded (blue). I can't believe I was actually anxious to get home and try it! I did what the directions told me, took a warm bath and exfoliated my legs really good and waited for them to dry. Sat on a towel and fired that bad boy up.
I'm not going to lie and say it didn't hurt like an SOB,
but you honestly kind of get used to the feeling after the first few swipes. I did small sections at a time and found that the most painful part was actually the outside of my legs. There's something about pushing through the pain though that gives you this immense sense of accomplishment.
My number one suggestion would be to start out on the high speed setting. It pulls the hairs out quicker and doesn't prolong the pain like the low setting does.
Amazingly, it really does work. The hair on my legs was pretty short and it still grabbed almost all of it. You do have to go over the same strip several times, but you can definitely feel it grabbing hair every time. I moved pretty fast and so covered a lot of territory quickly, then went back for the survivors. There were really only a few stray hairs left when I was all done and I got rid of them really quick with the tweezers. I would say I spent maybe 15 - 20 minutes on each leg with a break in between to breath and recoup. I only did from about 2 inches above the knee down though because the hair on my upper legs is very blond and super fine so I don't bother with it unless it's summer.
It's oddly fascinating doing it, so you kind of forget about the pain (note "kind of", trust me the pain is still there) in the quest to get every last follicle you can. I had little red dots all over my legs when I was done, but that is all gone today and they are pretty darn smooth. I think you will always have stray pricklies since the hair on your legs is all growing at different rates and even a day later a whole new crop is appearing. I think with repeated use though, this will definitely make a difference.
Sorry to be so long winded.
