Crazy Strong and Loving It for Jan 11, 2010

Good Morning,

DH left at midnight last night and I had problems sleeping so not feeling up to par right now and I don't know what I am going to do for a workout later just not in the mood for that anymore. Yesterday with my sister and her family was fun glad we could all get together.
 
Hi ladies. Today I am supposed to do the 2nd week of the total body workout. I am debating on spin. My legs (and shoulders too) are actually a little sore from Saturday's workout.

Belinda - good job with D4!

Roxie - glad you had a good visit with family. Maybe you'll feel more like a workout later on today.

Today's workout was last Monday's workout only in superset format. I had to increase my weights and I did where I thought I could.

Each superset is 3 sets/5 reps with a 1 minute rest between each superset. Glad I have two barbells!

SS #1
Flat Bench Press - 100#
ss w/
Barbell Rows - 87# (up 2#)
***Rows were tough this morning. Really felt that weight. Bench press got easier with each set.

SS #2
Squats - 95#
ss w/
Stiff Leg Deads - 92# (up 2#)
***Left squats at 95# because of my low body tightness.

SS #3
Barbell Curls - 62# (up 2#)
ss w/
Close Grip Bench Press - 87# (up 2#)
***Good superset, really felt both exercises.

Stretched for about 15 minutes afterwards. Was going to do abs but thought stretching would be better.
 
Ok, I'm really kind of stressed out about how to do my weights today. DH has to go back to the doc (ongoing sinus issues) so he probably won't make it to the gym. I was going to have him spot me (do the chest last rather than start with it) before spin. I just don't know what to do now. I don't feel secure enough in using the barbell to not have a spotter. Since I don't have one at home, all I've been using for chest (everything) are my dumbbells. I need to go to about 36 lbs on the dumbbells today or use the barbell. There is no way I can safely hoist the DBs into place. The barbell feels so strange b/c I'm not used to it and don't feel super comfortable with it. So am I just not ready for this rotation??? Really kind of down about it.

Nothing to get down about, there is always some way to do an effective workout. Instead of doing 5 reps, do 8 or 10 with a light barbell weight.
 
The gym owner would likely spot me if he wasn't busy. Just more comfortable with DH standing over me like that LOL! I have only done the barbell press with lighter weight (very light looking back).

Thanks for the suggestion of just adding on the extra reps. I may end up doing that. That is what I did with the preacher curls when I realized I was going too light. You know how it is when you get it in your head that this is what the rotation says to do, this is what I must do then.

I know I shouldn't stress about it. I just want it to be effective, and I want to get out of my comfort levels of sticking to the DVDs.

You should follow rotations the way they are laid out, there is a reason why they are laid out a certain way, but if for some reason you just can't do it that way, just do it how it works for you. If its only for one workout, you can improvise.
 
Phsewww! What a weekend! I'm pooped. I was soooo tired/fatigued last night at work. To the point of feeling like I was going to throw up. I even thought I was getting the flu or something, because I REALLY felt sick to my stomach, But it was just tiredness. ... Work itself was ok. Busy spurts. No crazy patients.

Yesterday was busier than usual since we started making our own dinner instead of take-out on Sundays. well, *I* made our own dinner. ..I made subs for everyone, so it took more time. Still, it saved us about $20-$30, so well worth it!

So today I started a new rotation. Not sure if you remember, but I'm going to do Cathe's January rotation, but use GS and 4DS workouts. Today I did GS: Back Shoulders Biceps. All I can say is WOW! , that band REALLY burns. I suppose I wasn't 100% because of little sleep and being tired, but it was a tough workout for me.

Debbie: NICE weights today!! but I'm not suprised, you always impress me with your workouts!

Heather: I understand the stress of having your workout plans messed up. Hope you figure something out. Either someone to help or lightening up just a little.... There's no way you can switch up with another day this week?

P90X Chest, Shoulders,& Triceps= 56 Min
Calories burned= 459
This was fun and I challenged myself upping the weight one to three pounds on most all of the exercises. Pushups are still hard for me but improving.

P90X Ab RipperX= 16 min
Calories burned= 98
I really love to do this and hate it, if you know what I mean. Its very intense and tough, but its a definite guarantee on doms, I get them everytime I do these, awesome stuff. The ones I have difficult with or can't do very well I struggle to do as many as I can then make it a goal to focus on form and improve. Plus, I'm stubborn and determined to eventually master those, pushups, Pikes on the ball like cathe, and Pullups/chinups. I'll get them and I'm working toward that goal, its all anyone can really do in reaching any fitness goals. Like Tony Horton says in P90X do your best and forget the rest.

Belinda- Congrats on completing STS Meso1 D4, I really think STS is awesome and Cathe has out did herself on the entire STS Cardio and Strength series. STS is challenging and will really test you but it does get you results. Cathe just loves to burn us with the bands, doesn't she? Man she is wicked with the band exercises, eh:D:p Ah, but that's why we love Cathe, she's so good at what she does. Have a great day!:)

Roxie- Take a break and jump back in tomorrow with a reenergized perspective. I'm glad you had a nice visit with your sister and family. Its nice to have a little down time from time to time. I hope you sleep well tonight, take care Roxie.;)

Heather- I hope you'll have fun and get a great workout in whatever you decide to do today. The Spin classes you've been enjoying sound like fun, but hard. I'd be careful with any weight training and definitely find a spotter or just go way lighter, most of all be safe.;)

Debbie- Wow, girl! Can I just say I'm not worthy after looking at your workout. You lift some very impressive weights, I'm not that strong yet but I'm working on improving. I have improved my strength but still have a long ways to go to be any where near worthy of your accomplishments, you rock!!!

Chris- I hope you can have a good nights rest to combat that fatigue/tiredness feeling cause I'm sure sleep would help immensely. Nice workout with the GS's and 4DS. I have all the GS series and 4DS and they are both awesome. I know you'll get some great results with them. I always get some DOMS with GS upper body workouts and those bands are killer. Sure, they look innocent, but they can be positively evil!:p:eek: I hope you feel better ASAP!;)
