Good Morning!!

I'm so glad it's Friday!!! :D:D:D:D

Deanie ~ I hope you enjoyed your rest day yesterday. Did you pick up anything good at the library. I've been reading like a crazy person lately. I have an addiction to books!

Melissa ~ I hope you get your utility bill straightened out soon. That is a big pain.

Marcy ~ How much ice and snow did you get? They were forecasting rain/sleet but the temps were in the high 30's this morning. We are in for another cold blast and then the highs will be back in the 50's by Monday.

Waves hi to Gayle and Rhonda.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I can workout again. I'm hoping I'll be able to workout in the backyard tomorrow.

Hi!!:)

back again!

Jane::: here is what I got out. None of the books are new, some were recommended to me, and the Maeve Binchy is one i haven't read :) (I thought I read them all)

A confederacy of dunces by John Kennedy Toole
A penny candle by Maeve Binchy
The dipolmats wife by Pam Jennings (from book club)
because she can by Bridie Clark
the cereal murders by Diane mott davidson (cute murder mystery series)
the castaways by Elin Hilderbrand
The manning brides by Debbie Macomber

Except for the Maeve Binchy and the Diane Mott Davidson, I haven't read any of these authors before and they were all recommendations. They sounded good and some are cute/ easy reading/chick lit which is always fun!:) I finished I capture the castle last night and highly recommend that. I really enjoyed it! It was this months book club pick. I am waiting for next months. I just joined this book club, but I've read alot of books they have and they seem to have the same taste as me. Someone picked PUSH for February, but the list for the library is to long so they have to pick something else. that is one I have no desire to read.... I also read the family man by elinor lipman that i liked, and will request more books by her. Also I like a mystery series by Kerry Greenwood: the Corinna Chapman mysteries. the first in the series is Earthly Delights (I think) there are only 4 books in the series but i would read them in order... What have you been reading ? Hope all is going well at your parents house!

Melissa::: Good workout yesterday! my back is better thanks, but no serious deadlifting for another week or so I think. I hope you enjoyed the snow. we got 2ish inches, but only a 2 hour delay, no closed schools:(

Marcy:::How's dance class? Sorry you didn't like A.S., but glad you got a good trade!

Rhonda::: Its a new day today!! Rock it! Good luck in your fruit and veggie fast- sounds good.

waves to Gayle!!! Hope you had a good day yesterday! How's the kitchen coming???

Here's my workout for today...not sure, but i may switch to the 20kg kettlebell for next week and see which is better... not sure what to do

Have a great Friday gals!!
I will try to BBL!

Deanie ~ I liked your workout for today. Is there a way to leave comments on your blog? I tried to find it but couldn't.

These are books I've read recently:

Currently reading ~ The Souvenir - Patricia Carlon - Mystery/Crime written in 1970 by an Australian writer.

Read Recently
Since You Ask - Louise Wareham. This was an intense read based on some dark material but the author has a really nice fluid style.

Stormy Weather - Paulette Jiles. The story took place during the depression in Texas. I really liked the book. The author has another book that takes place during the Civil War that I may check out.

Hardball - Sara Paretsky - Female P.I. I love Sara. Her stories take place in Chicago so they hold a special place in my heart.

Barefoot - Elin Hilderbrand - This is the first book I've read by Elin. It was a chick-lit book but I really enjoyed it. Let me know how you like The Castaways.

I've read Penny Candle. I like Maeve Binchy. I am actually reading Scarlet Feather next. If you like Maeve Binchy you might want to try Isla Dewar. They have a very similar writing style but her books take place in Scotland.

I have Push to read as well.

I read a good variety of books but sometimes read dark or depressing novels. My family makes fun of me but they always enjoy the books.

I love Good Reads. It's a social network for book lovers. I love it because I can keep track of everything I've read. My family are all book lovers and we are constantly passing books back and forth.

I will check out Capture the Castle.

Good morning!

Jane - I'm sorry your dad hasn't been doing well. Hope you get in a good workout tomorrow. Stay warm!

Deanie - Nice workout today! WTG on the suitcase DLs. I've been trying those, but can't get the balance right with the barbell. I like yiur reading list. I really want to read A Confederacy of Dunces. The kitchen is coming along well. At this point, all we can do is save up for the countertop (that's th e next step)...so we're waiting to see what the tax man says next month.

Melissa - I like the idea of going to the newspaper/TV, especially since they did an exposé on this before. Based on what you mentioned before, is the board in charge of this a bunch of elected officials? SWEET job on your PR. I think you found a constructive way to redirect your frustration. ;)

Rhonda - I'll be sending you many, many positive vibes for the challenges you're dealing with. I think if you can keep yourself fit spiritually and mentally, then the body will follow. Good luck with your fast. Also, I think swings and push ups are a fine workout on their own. Take care of yourself!

Marcy - I hope you're keeping warm! It's one thing when you expect for it to be cold, but when you don't get it very often...well then it just sucks. Are you pretty much liking STS Cardio?

Skiing was great! It was around 20 and sunny, which made for a really pleasant day. I went back to my old boots and they felt so much better. My squat cage came yesterday and I'm going to put it together tomorrow.

I'm taking a rest today. Have a great day ladies!

Jane:: Thanks for the recommendations! I will check out Isla Dewar and the mystery/crime books! I absolutely love Maeve Binchy, I've read the Scarlet Feather - really enjoyed it!:) I am not a "dark" reader, but if something is really good, I will try it. My mom and I read a lot and recommend books to each other too! PS- one of the best books ever is Shadow of the Wind I forget who its by and Atonement 2 of my top picks ever!

Gayle::: Glad you had fun skiing!! YEA!! to your new rack! You must be so excited!!!:):):) and NO WAY! I can't believe we've been at this for a whole year!!! wow!

....i will check out how to leave comments on my blog, I will have to wait till ds13 comes home from school:eek::p...'member when we used to laugh at our parents because they couldn't work the vcr??? ...now our kids are laughing at us!!!

Good Morning!

We didn't get much snow (maybe an inch, if that) but it does get icy here. There was a 29-car pileup earlier this morning but they didn't get to sand/salt the road there yet. I'm at work and my commute was no problem except for getting out of my subdivision which was a little icy. It's still in the 20s but I think it's supposed to warm up next week.

I didn't feel like doing much this morning so I pulled out Kari Anderson's Angles, Lines & Curves 2. It felt so good! Got a little more energy and pulled out Tracy Anderson's Mat workout and did the standing abs and unweighted arms sections. I ended with 2 chinups.

Deanie - I read Light A Penny Candle years ago and I loved it. I'm supposed to go to a dance tonight. I hope everyone shows up. Great workout today! WTG on the swings and suitcase deadlifts!

Gayle - Yes, time flies by fast! Deanie and I have been going at it for I think almost 3 years. I'm pretty much liking STS Cardio. As I said yesterday, I didn't care for Athletic Step and I also traded MMA Boxing. It was a decent workout but since I like kicking and punching, I felt that was covered in the others. My favorite MMA was Fusion. I like the HIITs. The only ones in the series I haven't done yet are Cardio Core Circuit and HIIT 40/20. I don't know if all this cardio is agreeing with me; I've gained about 4 pounds since last week! Glad you enjoyed your skiing! Have a great rest day!

Jane - Hope you get a good workout in tomorrow!

Waves to Rhonda and Melissa!

I have Shadow of the Wind on my Amazon wish list! I buy lots of my books because we have a small library. I do donate the majority of my books to the library though.

Good afternoon! Sorry I am so late getting in. This week I've had a harder time doing early workouts - I think it's just getting back into the swing after vaca.

ETK: TGU
Recommended warm-up
5 minutes of TGU
5 minutes of a series of lunges & squats
3 minutes of TGU
3 minutes of l&s

I am LOVING the TGUs!!! I was really, really in the zone today, so I did an extra 3 minutes. I did the lunges and squats because it hasn't been getting much love, and I really need to stay on top of it or it starts to fall. ;]

Deanie, someday I might say that my 20k is too light. I couldn't imagine that now, but someday... I might :p

Jane AND Deanie, thanks for all the book recs! I was browsing Amazon last night looking for something to add to my Kindle and I couldn't come up with anything so I dowloaded Beauty and the Beast - the classic. It was free. :D

Gayle, YAY for new toys!!! :D:D:D

Marcy, and I am going to give Flow and Flexibility a go. Do you have Brazil Butt Lift? There is nothing but raves about it at VF, and you always seem to have the new, cool stuff.

Rhonda, sending you hugs friend! How is the weather were you are?

Congrats to all for sticking with it for a year! I have only been here since May, but I had been lurking way before. You guys are a big inspiration. :)

Gotta run. HUGS!

Melissa
