Thanks Afreet!

I bought the Squeeze and Physique 57 videos on your postings, and others who said they liked them, plus doing a bit of research. I finished STS 6-month rotation last week and am doing the Squeeze and Physique 57 tapes this week. I wanted to say they're great. I love them. I love the burn I get from a 5# dumbbell! I have to go to 2# (only smaller ones I have) when my arms fail me. I love the stretching in Squeeze and the fast pace. I'm hoping the lower weight and higher reps are more beneficial to me.

Wow! You're welcome!

I'm glad you liked them - I'm still enjoying them, too, and am still seeing good results with lighter weights! I really like how fast-paced these workouts are - although sometimes it feels like time is standing still during the last few Squeeze shoulder sets. Ouchie ouch ouch.

so do share your current results:) how is everything going?

I've been on a bit of a workout DVD shopping spree.

I've added in some higher intensity stuff - Jillian Michaels' No More Trouble Zones & Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, LaloFit, and a couple Jari Love discs, as well as Dove's Bodies. All of these are basically total body circuits with light weights or no weights, like P57 and Squeeze. I alternate, with a circuit workout one day (whichever one I feel like) followed by a cardio/stretch day. I'm really surprised by how much I like the Jillian M. stuff. I don't watch The Biggest Loser and I don't really like the idea of fat loss supplements (which she had recently released, or at least promoted). But I tried both workouts on Exercise TV for free, and liked them so much I bought both.

I think all the unweighted (or light weight) lower body work really works for me. I don't think my lower half has ever looked so good. I'm down about 7 pounds from the beginning of my lower-intensity experiment! Only a few more to go before I hit my goal.

Ooh, Christmas list!

My sister has Jillian Michael and you're recommending her, I may have to check her out too. I think it's hard to come off something like STS, or any Cathe workout for that matter, and do "easy" stuff because I feel like I'm not doing enough. But, coming from a fellow Catheite, I trust your judgment (and the other Catheites) because you all know the hard stuff and when the easy stuff is either too easy or simply easy compared to Cathe but equally beneficial.

Oh, and congrats on the 7 pound loss! A W E S O M E !!!

Re: Jillian Michaels (BFBM and NMTZ)

I think I like these because you do 30-45 seconds of one exercise before moving on to the next, for a total of 5 exercises per circuit, and each circuit repeats twice. Good for those of us with a short attention span. They clock in around 50 minutes each.

BFBM is basically aerobic with a mix of athletic drills, kickboxing-type moves and plyometrics, with one 5-minute ab circuit in the middle. It's not very Cathe-like. The closest comparison might Boot Camp (both the long version or the 4DS version). The exercises are very much of the "get out of it what you put into it" school - if I go all out for the whole workout, I am a sweaty mess by the end; if I take it easy, and take all the short rests between reps, it's still a good workout, but can be made lower-impact/intensity.

NMTZ really surprised me. It's the same format (5 exercises per circuit, you do each circuit 2x), but there are a lot of compound moves and my HR stays pretty high throughout - it drops a little bit during the 2 ab/core circuits, but all in all it's really solid. Again, I can really challenge myself with slightly heavier weights or take it easy with tiny weights.

From what I've read, people who dislike Jillian's "drill-sergeant" style found her easier to take in these 2 workouts. I don't mind her at all, but I'm not super-picky, as long as the workout is good.

Neither one of these is as difficult as Drill Max, which I think is one of the hardest Cathe DVDs I own. They're shorter, though, so I feel like I can work harder without bonking out at the end (I frequently collapse during the last drill in DM - I just can't do that many push ups!!)
