Anyone have one of these and do you like it? What all to you use it for? I already have a hand held blender from Braun that works wonders for mixing protein powder, but it doesn't really do things with ice in. Any compliants about the Magic Bullet, hard to clean, use etc?

I was hooked by one of their infomercials a while back and did some research. The main issue seems to be that the motor is too strong for the casing and often it breaks because of it. However, they seemed to have a good return policy (I remember one guy said he returned his 5 times!) I use a Hamilton Beach Wave Action blender that can handle all the frozen berries, ice cubes and protein powder I throw at it.

I received a regular Magic Bullet as a gift several years ago and really like it for making single serving smoothies. I cut frozen bananas into large chunks add some other frozen fruit (usually blueberries and strawberries), ice, and cherry Juicy Juice.

The base/motor part does not take up much room and all the parts that need washing go in the dishwasher so it's easy to clean. Mine has gotten regular use and has had no mechanical problems. When it was new three of us were using it all the time, now we've slowed way down on the smoothies. I'm sure when summer rolls around we'll be using it more often again.

I just got one for Christmas...and I love it. Sometimes, it doesn't blend up a frozen strawberry...but I really like it better than my blender that was such a hassle to use...

Love it!

I've had one for over a year and I absolutely love it, as does everyone in the house.

It is PERFECT for chopping ice. My daughters both use it for making shakes and smoothies. I use it for making frozen margaritas. :) But it's also great for making frothy hot milk drinks.

I'm not sure if it does everything they show on the commercial. I recall it doesn't chop cheese the best. But for what my household uses it for, it's perfect.

It's all dishwasher safe and so much easier than hauling out the blender. And as far as the construction, I've been using mine every day for over a year now without a single issue. :)

It was definitely worth the $50.

Just my opinion, but I hope that helps!

I found a smaller sized smoothie maker that was $15 at Meijer/Walmart - works great with ice - better than $50, but it's really only good for drinks vs. food. Works great!

I also have one & to me it seems like just a smaller blender. It is nice since it doesn't take up so much room & easier to get in & out. Smoothies is baout all we use ours for. The kids make milkshakes sometimes. I know with mine I will sometimes I put my protein powder/banana/ice in there & get chunks of ice still.
When I bought mine you got 2 for the price of one so I was able to give one as a Christmas gift!!
For the most part I like mine also.

Our experience...

My husband bought the Bullet and used it daily, but had problems with the plastic tabs on the cups breaking off (so it wouldn't work properly). He also had a lot of trouble with the contents leaking, even after tightening it pretty well.

He replaced his Bullet blender set and went through that, but eventually found a similar product by Tribest that he's liked much better:

He uses it every day -- at least once a day -- to make smoothies and protein shakes, mostly. He's been very happy with this product, which he's used over a year.

I rarely use either one, so I can't give an opinion; just passing on his experience. But I can say that we haven't had any leaking with the Tribest blender. I also don't know the cost comparison.

I'm on my second Magic Bullet (I had the previous one for about 3+ years and used it at least once a day).

I really like it for making smoothies and açaì and berry sorbets. I also use the grinding blade to grind whole flax into powder.

I don't put ice in my smoothies or sorbets, but I do use frozen fruits. As Celestialtimes mentioned, frozen strawberries are a challenge (for most blenders, I think), but I usually thaw them a bit before blending--either by letting them sit in the cup for a while before making my smoothie or sorbet, or by rinsing under warm water until softened a bit--and I haven't had any problems with them.

I was contemplating getting one of those after this MB bites the dust, but didn't know how they would perform vs. MB. I have several things from Tribest (a juicer, some glass storage containers, and probably some other things I'm forgetting!) and they have all been good so far. Did you get the regular one, or the one that blends using regular Mason jars? That one looked interesting as well.

Kathryn, we have the regular one, that comes with two or three cups and two caps (with the blades). My husband usually blends frozen fruit, flax, bananas, protein powder, but no ice cubes (frozen fruit keeps it cold enough). He wasn't abusing the Bullet, but the design of those tabs made it easy to break them off.

Anyway, he's happy so I'm happy. Thought I'd pass it along. I know he did a lot of research before choosing the Tribest brand.

Hope this helps!
