Ipod ?

Ok, I just got an early Christmas present from DH..an Ipod NANo.

I tinkered with it the other day and got it registered and already put in 7 of my CD's into it and even downloaded an album off of iTUNES. Anyway I digress...and in the next paragraph I digress even more :p please bear with me.

Last year my DH and FIL went to Rochell, IL..DH is a railfan and they have a park there and in the parking lot my FIL found an Ipod. I think it is a 2nd generation. Dh said there had been a bunch of kids skateboarding the the parking lot it probably was one of thiers. Dh hung onto the Ipod but they never came back. So he brought it home and in the year or so that we've had this Ipod we never got around to hooking it up and the battery has long since gone dead.

Now that I have my Ipod and I had to register it I'm wondering if there is a way to find out who owns the found Ipod through the registration and if there is a way to return it to it's owner. Any thoughts?

If the product was registered with Apple, I would think they would be able to find the owner, but I'm not sure since I've never heard of that happening to anyone I know.

I believe, though, that if you hooked it up to your computer, it would wipe the Nano.

Thanks for replying. I've been doing some reading and I kind of get the same impression that if I hook it to my computer it will wipe out what is on there.
I'm going to go into the iPOD store today maybe they can help.

I was going to say that . . . you can have more than one registered to your computer. Both my kids have theirs on my computer and then I have my own -- if you hook the ipod up to your computer it will say whatever the person named it ( like my son's ipod comes up as "Julian's Ipod" when I hook it into my computer) -- I don't know about finding out who it's registered to, but I would definitely contact Apple to see.

Happy Holidays!

I know that you can have multiple iPods on one computer, but it's when you move an iPod to a different PC that you have to jump through some hoops to able to transfer the music.

Tamrahan, what did the Apple folks say?
