Way O/T Batman Legos

Oh my GOSH!!! I have been surfing around trying to find a reasonably priced Batman Lego for my nephew. What a JOKE!! They are all at least $60.00 and some closer to $150.00!! Were any of you lucky enough to buy them when they were still on the shelves at Target, Walmart etc. ?? It is just crazy!

The toy prices have been out of control this year!!!!
Is this a lego set or a lego game for Nintendo or Wii???
My boys don't have Lego's because I dred all those little pieces!!!

I feel ya! Legos have always been expensive. DS and DH both love them. Oddly enough, they are one thing that really hasn't gone up in price. The big sets have always ranged from 100-150 depending on the size and what the characters are. The smaller sets are a little more reasonable. DH remembers a pirate ship from when he was little (he's 34) that he wanted for Xmas that was $150. Santa brought it as a family present for him and his brothers. They just rereleased it and Santa was going to bring it for him this year as a nostalgia gift, but the rerelease is $130, but Toys R Us had it on sale for a few sats for $85 or$89. They are expensive, but the replay/rebuild value on them is huge. I'd rather spend the money on Legos, which can actually be educational, then some fluffy pop star tie in game that will be in the uncool pile in 2 weeks! Expensive bits of plastic, those Legos are, and hard on bare feet!

I have to go with a vote to BUY LEGO! Like Nan said, the REPLAY value is a huge argument for buying Lego. 3 summers ago, my kids were getting to a stage where they didn't really play with too many other things besides Yu-Gi-Oh cards (while inside, that is.....outdoors wasn't a problem). So I dug out some of MY old Lego sets that my mom kept and now...our collection has grown to 6 (yes, SIX) BIG rubbermaid, stackable drawers that have been in my living room ever since. I have kids at my house ALL. THE. TIME. and they all play with these little building blocks. You should see some of the creations they come up with.

Ellie, yeah, picking them up isn't fun after you've stepped on a jagged piece, barefooted. But I threaten the kids that any pieces left laying on the floor get sucked up by the vacuum cleaner when it comes thru! LOL

On the subject of PRICE. You can find them on sale every now and again. Toys R Us, without fail, always has a really good sale sometime in October (usually a Buy 2 get 1 free, or something similar). Kohl's is another place that will have them on sale frequently.

My son loves them!

My son loves Legos -- the bigger and more complicated (and expensive) the set, the more he loves it!

Did you know that you can go on the Lego website and design your own Lego kit? Then they price it out and ship it to you in box with a cover design of your finished product. My son has done this, and I can tell you it's not cheap!

When I was a kid (a zillion years ago) we played with Legos and they weren't very expensive (or complicated) at all. That's progress, I guess!

On the stepping on legos barefoot problem.... a friend of mine with boys and girls (thus a lot of different kinds of toys) wanted to invent a vaccuum that would suck up toys and sort them into proper bins. What a gold mine that would be!!

Beth, no joke here, but my SO actually TRIED to use a shop vac for this same purpose. He got all into it and started drawing a design and everything. NOTE FOR THE FUTURE.....Shap Vac DOES work, but it tears the paper filter inside! LOL
