The MOD Squad!!

I wanted to see if we could get a thread going with some of our favorite modifications for some of the exercises that might be a little out of our league for whatever reason..

These are a couple of modifications I have found that have worked for me...

For leg presses, I can't do these sometimes because of balance issues....Place a 5 lb. ankle weight around the working leg, from a lying position, with the non-working leg bent..Raise the working leg and hold for a 5-count, lower and repeat. Just remember what you do to one side.....do however many reps you like, I usually do 3 sets of 8 per leg....just remember...what you do to one side....;)

Another one is a sumo-squat front kick in place of sequential power kicks if you don't want all that jumping...somedays I can handle it, others no way.

Would love to hear some others!!

Good thread idea!

Sumo-squat to front kick is definitely going into my rotation of lower-impact, high-intensity moves! Thanks for that, Jerry.

I sometimes substitute a back lunge to front kick for that one (the count is a little different, but since she does one side after the other it's an easy modification).

I generally substitute for all of the high-impact jumping, like tuck jumps, or plyo jacks. The one move that I absolutely HATE and ALWAYS modify are the "power scissors". So, some of my favorite alternatives:

-squat thrusts or mountain climbers
-kettlebell swings!
-box lunges on the step
-fast repeater knee smashes with one foot on the step (one side, then the other)
-front kick-back kick (from KPC) as fast as I can go

I use a lot of the lower impact step moves from Low Max as well.
