I agree with the information in this article, I tried reading a book about this, but it was too much like a text book to get through it. My attention span is pretty short.
I agree that refined carbs and sugars are far more detrimental to weight loss and health than fat. We've been led to believe that eating fat makes you fat. I don't believe in cutting out carbs entirely, but I do believe that cutting out certain carbs and sugars is the way to go. Don't get me wrong, I'm not good at following diets period, but I have started making different choices because of this.
It's interesting, recently, I went out to eat, I just planned on eating whatever I wanted. I ate a large t-bone steak, my appetizer was Carcpaccio with caesar salad, I unintentionally did not eat the bread, I had 1 vodka drink, and a couple bites of dessert. This meal had no effect on my weight.
Over a month later, I went to a wedding, and ate all sorts of carby stuff, items with bread, rolls with dinner, fried items, champagne, too much dessert, in addition to meat of course. The next day my weight jumped up 4 pounds, and it took me over a week to get rid of that.
Those are two examples, but in summary I notice when I stick with protein/fat based meals, even those very high in calories, it does not negatively effect my weight. If my meal has too many carbs or too much sugar involved, it has a very negative effect.
