Another Valor BD3 Squat Stand Post

I just received my set yesterday from Overstock and they rock! Took DS and I about a 1/2 hour to put together. I am amazed how heavy and sturdy they are. Unfortunately, they will not work for bench press with the step bench on 4 risers/side so I'm going to look for a cheap bench.

Bring on STS Legs! ;)

NinjaMom - welcome to the Squat Rack Fold! I've had mine only a couple-three days longer than you and already I can't imagine life without them.

I really want to get good at racking and unracking the barbell quickly so that I can bring barbell-leg-circuit cardio routines back into the mix. It was getting to the point where X weightload was comfortable hiking over my shoulders 4-6 times per workout but too light to challenge and fatigue the legs, and then the weightload that would challenge/fatigue the legs became a little (a LOT) dicey to hike from floor overhead that many times.

STS AND leg-circuit cardio, here I come!

BTW - are you not so TOTALLY glad this is the last night of the RNC?! I'm all about bipartisanship and democracy and all that jazz, but these four days have totally upended my peaceful downtown experience!

I found a great bench on craigslist - it is also has an incline and is nicely padded. I use it so much b/c it is more comfy than the step. I have the extra risers - too many, really b/c I got them before I found the bench. Also have the slanted risers which I really like for a step workout or they would be good for certain leg work but I just never get them out to use. The brand I have is Parabody Steel and there are usually several of this brand for sale here and there.

It's great to hear that everyone is liking these so well. I did get mine on Tuesday, but haven't even opened the box -- it's been a little busy around here the past few days. If I don't get them put together tonight, then it's first on the agenda tomorrow.

Done! It took maybe 30 minutes -- I didn't time it. We used a box wrench and a socket wrench rather than the rinky-dink wrenches that came with it, or else it probably would have taken at least twice as long. I feel bad for anyone who only has those to work with. Very sturdy! I'm looking forward to giving them a test drive.

Those wrenches that came with it are ridiculous!
I got out my own tools after struggliing with those for a couple of minutes.

ITA! Did you see the news last night that they had to closed down John Ireland Blvd b/c the protestors were blocking the bridge? The GOP touted how this was going to be a big boom to businesses downtown but many have appeared on the news saying the business promised never came and now some are taking big losses. Then there is all the physical damage to property, extra police, all the arrests....Gee- I wonder who is going to pay for all that!

Oh well, at least I have my new squat stands;)

Thanks for the info Shana. I was going to check out play it again sports and garage sales. Did you have a good experience with craigslist? I get kinda creeped out with it because we had a woman murdered and people beaten up when responding to ads.

Yay Nancy! Have fun with your test drive.

Oh, wow. That is not good. I have actually gotten several things on craigslist and not had one problem. Each time, I talked to the people on the phone first. One guy lived in the neighborhood next to mine - from him I got a leg curl/extension, the incline bench, and an ab piece - all the Parabody Steel - very good deal there. He is a personal trainer and was going to solely train at the gym where he works. My squat rack (free!) came from a girl about 30 min away and that was great too. We got a bike for my daughter and met the people for that because they lived a ways away - it was a $200 bike just like new for $75 I think it was. Those have all been within the last 6 months and were just great. I have also sold stuff on that site, and have a friend who is always buying and selling. Play It Again, IMO, is sort of expensive for stuff like that b/c they have to make their profit. For used weights, they are great though! Good luck :)

Shana~ You have gotten some good deals! Maybe I'll have to give craigslist a try. I saw a really nice Parabody bench on Overstock but it was around $100 and I don't want to spend that much;)
