What are your favorite things about the summer?

I'm trying to take my mind off the heat & the broken a/c at work. :mad: So let's talk about the good things summer brings:

--longer days. Love that the sun is up before me instead of vice versa, & love that it's still light when I get home at night
--strawberries!
--less laundry!
--Cathe's RT!!!!!!!!!!

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the subject title was CATHE RT! Ha! I see you beat me! :p

I absolutely love summer...as an Ohioan, we cherish warm weather...but, if my AC was broken, I'd prob feel diff.

Soooooo, what do I love?

Jogging outdoors after being stuck on TM during cold months
Bike riding with DH on the bike trails
Cooking out on the grill
Seeing my grandkids play outside on their bikes, scooters and swim
Fresh produce at the open market
WATERMELON & STRAWBERRIES
Seeing my neighbors more
The sun just puts a smile on my face! :cool:
 
My 'new backyard toy' and all the giggles and HOURS of fun we're getting from it all:

Healthy doses of Vit. D from sunlight
Fun runs before 6 am
I love melons, cantaloupe is good.
Summer movies, I saw The Last Airbender (it was great) and Toy Story.
 
This is a fun one cause I look forward to Summer every year.

* Sweatier work outs due to heat and humidity .
* Supper on the grill and hanging out on the patio ( WITH the fire pit ! )
* Longer days ( I LOVE it when I still have about 4 hours of daylight after work.)
* Fairs, carnivals , fireworks, and parades.
* Walks with DH and the dog on a gorgeous night after supper

Vacation at the beach
SUNSHINE ! (we don't get a lot of that in Ohio in the winter)
iced green tea
grilled EVERYTHING ! Veggies, chicken, shrimp....
fresh fruit, and veggies picked from my garden
sitting out early morning or at night on our screened in porch
SWIMMING (wish we had a pool !!)

I HEART summer !! :)

what a great topic!

I love the "Day of Acclimation" when the heat doesn't feel so hot, even when it's 100 degrees out, the hills are hazy in the morning, and the trees in the distance are too, the sun is orangey-red and the heat comes up with it.... and it just feels like summer...clear skies....bright...like it was today :)

There's one of them in the middle of winter...and I love that too.

I'm with Nan, generally speaking, but I do have a few:

summer produce
shoes - love summer sandals
going barefoot!
a nice breezy sundress
sitting on a nice terrace sipping a good margarita!
(and on a perfect day, all of these things can happen at once!)
and finally, that it's generally short -

Oh - and air conditioning (one of man's greatest inventions)

LMAO!!! I am soooo the same way!! I'm not much of a summer lover because the heat...REEEALLLY makes me cranky!!:eek: BUT!! I do love being able to BBQ more....but that's about it! (you're too funny syprosmom!!!)
 
Summer *just* arrived here yesterday!!! So happy about it too!!

I love the smell of fresh cut grass
Sitting outside on the patio (what I would do for Gayle's pool!!!)
Camping
BBQ's with friends
How light it stays out when I get off work

I get all antsy and want to run when I get off work, but it's too hot right now to do that (for me anyway). Made that mistake yesterday.
 
I know I posted some things I love about Summer, but in all honesty, it is my LEAST favorite season! Autumn is my absolute FIRST pick-I get all antsy about pullilng out my Fall decorations and spicey sceted candles, warm blakies on the couch, starting to run the fireplace in the evening and on cool mornings, the crisp air, sweaters, cute boots, watcing the Halloween movies and of course the anticipation of Thanksgiving and Christmas!! Next favs are Spring and Winter!

It's cool out today so now I'm totally in Fall mode!!:eek:
 
There isn't much I don't love about summer. A few favorites:

sandals
Wearing shorts
top-down drives
water skiing
fresh fruit of all kinds
sitting on the porch
the beach
thunderstorms
eating dinner outside
ice cream and frozen custard
outdoor concerts

Okay right now I am not digging summer. It is hot in Virginia.

What I do love is:
Boating
Boating
Oh, did I mention boating

As several others mentioned-grilling everything

Sweet corn from the local farm stands. Yummy!
 
Another Ohio gal here, so my #1 favorite thing is the SUN!!!:cool:

Also love:
fresh produce
gardening
my fishies in the backyard pond
summer clothes (except for swimsuits, but I'm working on that one!)
walking on beach
grilling

Actually there's just about nothing I don't like about summer! The only thing I'm not liking this summer in this heat with no rain, is having to water my plants constantly. But the good thing about no rain is not having to mow the grass often!

Oh, and I like fairs too. Next weekend Jonathan Hillstrand from Deadliest Catch is going to be at our yearly party in town square! I'm definitely going! He was there last year too, and I totally forgot to go.

grilling without shivering (I grill all year long like Bill Cosby in The Cosby Show)
being in the pool with my two boys all day long
beautiful sunsets
longer days
night swimming
being a stay-at-home mom for a few months (I am a teacher)
ICE CREAM from Mr. Softee
catching lightning bugs

This summer I am especially happy because I am going on my first Cathe RT!!!!! Cannot wait!
