Floor space to workout

How much floorspace would one estimate to do the step workouts. I have to clear out a fair bit of space in the living room by moving the furniture, and I was wondering how much is ideal or necessary. (In truth, I'm going to be buying a new home in the next couple months and I'd like to have a step/exercise room and I need to know what my dimensions should be!)

I agree, though it also depends on the workouts to some extent. Some use more side-to-side space, while others use both side-to-side nad front-to-back.

I think Angie's 10' x 10' recommendation is a good one (ideally, 10' x 12' perhaps).

I built a 6' x 6' raised platform in my cellar and that gets small for some workouts. (the low ceiling doesn't help either)

I don't have that much floor space, so I modify when I can. Don't have wall space either. What I do need is my own workout room---waiting until one or both kids go to college....:D
