Does anyone use Walk Fit orthotics or another brand?

I've been seeing the infomercial for the Walk Fit orthotics for a long time and now they've "improved" them. I've considered orthotics for awhile but just haven't made the plunge yet. I was at a fair not too long ago and they had orthotics for over $200 which I could not afford. Has anyone purchased the infomercial brand or used something similar that has shown you any improvement in pain, posture, etc.? Here's the link if you're interested. Thanks!

I have the original Walk Fit orthotics. They have been working well for me. I had plantar fasciitis and they seemed to help with that. I no longer have pain in my heel. I continue to wear them for support. I purchased mine from Bed Bath and Beyond. With their discount coupons that they regularly send out, it was inexpensive to try them. I haven't seen the "improved" ones, so I can't comment on them. HTH

i also have planter fasciitis. did u get a cortizone shot? i was diagnosed with it 2 weeks ago. my doc said to do in home pt for 8-10 weeks and take motrin for 2 weeks. i cant decide if i should go ahead and take the shot or wait til after xmas to see if it gets 100% better. i work sales floor so it will get worse but after a cortizone shot i wont be able to walk a few days+

Hi Laura,
I struggled with Plantar F for about 2 years. Doing "everything", it wasn't until it got so bad that I really fixed it for good..and it's been gone ever since.
#1. Go to a specialist
#2. Take the anti inflamatories ie motrin, naparsin
#3. DONT RUN!!!....This was my down fall...you have keep pressure off of the foot, you can't really do any type of pounding for about 3 months. And when they say 3 months they mean 3 months. I gave up running and any type of cardio that would pound on my foot. I started using the stationary bike for Cardio. Yes it was SOOOOOOO hard but it really was what cured it.
#4. I did do the coritzone shots...i had 2 of them about 6 months apart and they are FABULOUS. Great pain relief...but it's not a cure...
#5. Sleep with the BOOT. It's a boot like thing that you sleep with and it keeps your foot straight while you sleep. It's the best!!! I still have mine and when ever I feel like the Plantar is flaring up I would wear it.
#6. You must cross train...too much of anything puts your body at risk for injuries.
#7. Wear good sneakers that fit your feet and get a new pair when ever they start to wear out. Sneakers only last really for about 6-8 months if you use them 5-6x a week.

I think thats it, but I so feel your pain so I just had to answer this. Good Luck!

thanks for responding. it started after doing 4 weeks of insanity. i miss doing that. you mentioned crosstraining. what else do u do besides ride a bike?maybe swimming laps? i did order shock cardio but did not buy the step workout. my condition must not b as bad because i can sleep without a boot.i sleep on my back. my doc said i can still workout but no step. tuesday i stop taking motrin and see if the pain comes back.if it does, i will get a cortizonethough i might have to stop work for a week.pt 8-10 weeks.yuck!

I have prescription orthotics. They're pricey but they last longer than OTC ones (couple months vs. couple years of continuous use). I got them cheaper by going through my university ($190). Won't go back to using any other kind. I cringed at the price initially but I'm glad I went through with it.

Thanks jbosumom. How long have you had yours and did you need to replace them? I'll have to keep my eye on BB&B to see if they get the new ones in. Thanks for the reminder to look there!

Hottiescientist, thank goodness you at least got a discount from the university. When you find something that works for you, the cost becomes quite justified. I'm glad they've helped you.

I have had my Walk Fit for well over a year and they still are working fine. They are most comfortable for me if I place them under the foam inserts that are in most athletic shoes. It took quite awhile before the pain went away though. So, patience and I had to quit doing step and substitute kick boxing, biking, and low impact aerobics for my cardio. Best of luck to you!

Thank you! I'm really looking to buy them for comfort. I do have some lower back problems but wasn't having hopes of it necessarily helping that. Sounds like I'll give them a try so I'll look for them at BB&B. Thanks again!
