Hey all you chinstas out there stand up and give a shout!!!!

Alright, promo over :D I did chinups today. 6,5,5,3,&4 Not too bad. I am really feeling these in my back more now. I used to feel them alot in the biceps, but now feeling those back muscles work. This must be a good sign!!!

I did legs today also:
Squats 65#: 2 sets 11 and 1 set 10 (up one rep on 1st 2 sets)
Bulgarian Squats 2-20# DBs: 4x6 (extra rep on 1st set and it's real hard to balance doing these with 2- 20# DBs)
Dead Lifts 70#: 1x12 and 2x10 (up 2 reps on 1st set- keeping grip difficult)
Plie Squats 2-20# DBs: 1x4 (got a major butt cramp  ) 2x8
Calf Raises 2-28.75# DBs: 3x20 (5 more reps per set)

Briee, are ya out there honey? BTW did P90X L&B on Sun minus the back Whoa baby, forgot how that gets into the glutes. I also threw in Ab Skipper X for good measure }(

Joanne, just 3 weeks

Sooooooooooooosan, still thinking about you and your family :)

OK, so somebody give me a shout!!

Hey Catherine, Joanne and Briee! I'm in NJ visiting my parents. My mom is not doing so well. She's pretty much an emotional wreck, which is SO unlike her, but fairly common I hear. She's very glad to see us and I think being here with the kids is good for her. I'm going to call Sloan-Kettering tomorrow to inquire about counseling or other emotional support services they have to offer. When I talk to my parents about it, they're against it, but I just want to find out what's available.

Catherine, your chin-ups are just so awesome! I've given up on them with no regrets. I can be fit and healthy without them and really don't want to take a chance of injuring myself over and over like I kept doing when I was working on them. I've been loving yoga lately and have really been challenging myself there. I'm definitely going to start Cathe again when I get home next week, though. I really miss her!

Briee, you had asked me in a previous post whether I had gotten an e-mail from you. Just wanted to tell you that I had not and was wondering if you wouldn't mind resending so that I can respond. Did it not get bounced back?

Joanne, I'm going to miss seeing you this road trip! I hope she does one again next year. You and Catherine are going to have a blast.:)

Catherine-Can't believe the RT is only three weeks away. I'm getting really excited.

Sooosan-I will miss you too on the RT this year. I'm thinking about you and your Mom.

Briee-Have you been on your bike? DH and I went last weekend on a really neat trial in upper MN. It was a great ride.

Joanne

I really don't want to give up on this check-in!! Come out come out where ever you are!!

Today I did heavy legs again because Wed I leave for NYC and I didn't want to miss my heavy leg day. I also did chins 6,6,5,4,4,3. On my first two sets I got my nose to the bar for almost a 7th rep!! I so wanted to get there but almost.

Legs:
DH spotted me on my squats (can't get 70# above my head)
Squats: 70# 3x8 (up 5# and suprisingly wasn't that hard)
Bulgarian Squats: (2) 20#DBs 3x7 (up 1 rep on last 2 sets getting better at these-hard to balance)
DL: 70# 3x9 (1 less rep per set, but did them off my HS topper for larger ROM)
Plie Squats: 55# 3x8 (up 5#- not sure if these are of any use?)
Calf Raises: 32.5# 2x15 & 1x10 (up 2.5# lost grip on last set, hence fewer reps x( )

I know you are out there ladies. Come on and join me!!

I'm so sorry Catherine (and everyone else in chinnerland)...just been a busy few days (weeks?). No I don't want chinsters to die, but I think I need to get through the summer and then will start posting more often.

Catherine...I'm SO PROUD OF YOU. I think you're well beyond me with chins now as I continue to be in slumpsville!!!! Soosan...I'm glad you've made your peace with chins and are realizing that you can do a gazillion and one OTHER things to keep you in shape, but you are STILL a full fledged member of the chinners and cannot defect!!!

I'm getting more and more into yoga - and, oh, you'll like this. Was sitting in the swimming pool on a round tube floaty thing and putting my legs up over my head to stretch (you know like you do on the floor on your back and you bring your straight legs up over your head and touch to floor behind you(what are they called?)). Now if you do these in a quick fashion...you can flip right over into the water, which the kids think is very fun now. I think it's quite the graceful way to get wet, but it's only to be done in an orange swimsuit:7 :7 :7 :7 :p .

No Joanne, I haven't been biking lately - just crazy busy. My mom just had a pacemaker put in 4 days ago and one more ER visit for #6 son in the last 4 days (long story). Catherine...I'm still thinking about your mom and praying that her spirits will be lifted and the doctors will have wisdom in treating her.

Workouts....are we here to discuss workouts???? I better leave quick.

Briee (okay so I did PH about 4 days ago - man was I sore. Oh and hey...I FINALLY found out that I placed first out of the women in all age groups in the local triathlon I entered a few weeks back. That was probably my last meaningful workout - oh that's so sad and pathetic - I've got to get my act together!!!)

I forgot to add....don't worry about the email Soosan. It did appear to go through, but it was just to check on you and tell ya that we were missing you!!

Have a great week chinners. And Catherine and Joanne....you guys must be so pumped to go to Catheland VERY soon!!

Briee

Hey, Briee I know you've been busy and it's good to hear from ya. Is your mom doing ok with her pacemaker? I hope things slow down a little for ya. Yoga, hmmmmm,... in an orange bathing suit????

I have been working really hard to increase size and strength and am making slow steady gains :D I really want to get to 7 on the chins. I am almost there.

I am getting ready to leave for NYC tomorrow and will be gone till Sunday at a conference. And then next weekend is the RT!!!!! I am so psyched. Are you(Briee) and Soooooooooooosan sure you don't want to join us? I can not wait!!

Joanne, when are you arriving in NJ? I think my flight gets in at 2:55 or something like that. Wish I was getting there earlier. I'm gonna be busy the next couple of weeks-whew, I am tired just thinking about it.

Sooooooooooooosan, I hope you are doing well and your mom is feeling and doing better. Sending up lots of prayers for you all :*

Hey Catherine-I'm arriving around 11:00 a.m. Julie and I are flying Northwest and they have been CX flights like crazy. I'm so worried! What is your airline? Did I read somewhere that you are all packed? I have to get going. I am a terrible packer and I always over pack! Great job on your chins-I haven't been working on them :( Thanks for keeping this check-in going :)

Joanne

Got off work a little early so I came home and did some pullups before I leave for NYC. Did 4,3,3,2&2. That's my first set of 4!! Feeling it so much more in my lats these days as opposed to my arms and shoulders- which is a good sign ;)

Joanne, I'll see you soon!!
Briee, forgot to say awesome on coming in 1st at your tri!!!!
Sooooooooooooosan, hope to hear from ya soon

Hey chinners! Catherine, you really are great to keep us all going! I feel bad I don't check in as often as I used to. I'm still doing yoga quite a bit mixed with Cathe interval cardio. It's a nice change of pace and I think it's good for my body. I'm going to try to post a picture taken a couple of weeks ago you all might enjoy:

Shoot, I can't figure out how to do it. Can anyone tell me? Otherwise, a friend of mine is coming over to do yoga later - she might be able to help.

Briee, the orange bathing suit pose is called, "plow" and, you're right, it should only be done while wearing orange - bathing suit is optional.:p

Catherine and Joanne, I'm so excited for you both about the road trip!!! You're going to have the best time!:)

Waving back to Catherine in NYC - although you are probably home by now!!.

Okay....I wasn't doing plow wearing an orange swimsuit. THAT was when I was in the swimming pool!!!! (But I do have a nice orange tank top that I wear sometimes while doing yoga:7 :7 :7 )

My mom is doing very well with her pacemaker, but complains because she can't go swimming for a while - thanks for asking.

Soosan, how is your mom doing?

Catherine....I just want to say that you deserve a major prize for the chinster who has gone the farthest, most improved chinster, etc. I'm really proud of you.

I deserve the prize for the most back slidden chinner, but friends are helping me out of this slump. More on that later - gotta run.

Briee

Oh, I forgot to tell you all that I was on the Today Show. You know when Al Rocher comes out and interviews the crowd? Well a young girl next to me had a sign and was celebrating her 18th birthday and he stopped and talked to her. I was right behind him!! My sis called and told me she saw me  My brother taped it. I can't wait to see how totally goofy I look!!

Awesome job on those chins Catherine!!

I have to tell you guys, as backslidden as I've been - everybody around me is doing SO well. I went to dinner with some friends that I hadn't seen in 3 months and one of them says "hey I forgot to tell you, I've been doing the Cathe DVD's you gave me for the last 3 months, I feel GREAT! But the other friend was the real amazing one. She was a lady who was quite overweight and never joined in on the conversations regarding exercise - SHE HAD LOST ABOUT 50 POUNDS. When I saw her I asked her "what are you doing-you look awesome". She said that she walks at least 4-5 miles a day and cut her calories to 1200 a day. She said "you would talk about how great you feel and I decided I wanted to make a change!". That one almost had me in tears - I didn't even know she was listening. Then yesterday ANOTHER friend who I haven't talked to in months calls and as we're talking she says "oh yeah, I almost forgot to tell you - I'm working out in a tiny local gym and have been for the last 12 weeks, I am SO addicted to my weights now I don't know how i lived without them".

I USED TO COMPLAIN THAT NO ONE WOULD WORK OUT WITH ME. Now everybody's working out and I'm in a slump. Soooooooo...I am taking all the motivation from all these people (one of which dropped off a basket no less of all energy, uplifting, little items to get me to "get off my tush" and work out - as the card "nicely" stated) and GETTING OFF MY TUSH AND DOING SOMETHING!

Aren't friends wonderful!! Last of all I want to thank you guys for ALWAYS being there!!! We've been together for quite a while now. I want to encourage you all to keep encouraging all those around you - you never know who is listening!

Briee (sorry to yack so much!!)
