Chin Mania check in 3/4/07

No chins today. But thought we needed a new thread. Still excited about almost doing 5 yesterday. I feel like I am getting it back. For the longest time I was just blah with chins. No motivation. Now I am raring to go!!

I did KPC today and it was easier than usual. Must be all the cardio I've been doing. Tomorrow will be DM and I will add in some chinups.

Catherine, I read your post yesterday and still can't believe you almost did 5 chins yesterday! WTG Girl!!! I've been the biggest slacker when it comes to chins but I did do the KPC Cardio Conditioning Premix followed by abs yesterday and Drill Max today. I took a few days off this week and feel a lot stronger cardiovascularly (is that a word?:)) I'm doing a tough 90-min yoga podcast tomorrow with some friends.

Thanks for being the "rock" of this check-in, Catherine, even when the rest of us just check in here and there. I really hope you come to the Road Trip.

Briee? Joanne? What are you guys up to?

Thanks for asking about my mom. She is going in for surgery on Friday. Between the surgery and radiation, they think they can get 99.9% of it. I'm not sure what that will mean in her life but we'll take what we can get. I'll be going back up the week after.

Sooosan-I, too, have been a big slacker with the chins. I did try a neg yesterday and my arm felt ok. I plan on doing MM today and doing some more negs. I did Yoga on Saturday and it felt great. Your Mom will be in my thoughts.

Catherine-Once again, great job on those chins.

Hey guys!!! I'm right in the middle of P90X chest and back. I'm beginning the second part....and looking for anything else to dox( x( x( . ha ha. I am down MANY reps. Really in need of daily consistent workouts!!! All these breaks have made me lose ground. Weirdly.....I could only do 4 chins, but when I got to close grip pullups I could do 7...what is happening to my body????? I'm only doing half what I normally do for pushups too. I hate breaks and inconsistency.

Glad you are all doing so well. Catherine....WTG on those chins...you are motivating me!!! Soosan, we'll keep praying for your mom, sounds like a great prognosis. Joanne, regarding RT...can you and AJ just get the plane to fly low and I'll jump high and hitch a ride to Cathe's????
 
Well, no five in a row today. But I did 14 total- but it's only been two days since my last round of chins. I'll do some more later in the week after a longer recovery. DM was fun, but exhausting. I was tired to begin with so you know it was hard!!

Briee- Chest and Back eh?? Don't be so hard on yourself. You know you always bounce right back!! Odd though that you could do more close grip pullups than chins. I am planning a P90X rotation, uh sometime or another LOL!! Or maybe a modified one- just don't know yet.

I asked my DH about the RT and he says ok. But I still need to check on other issues first. But I sure want to go!!

I wonder how Honey Bunch is doing. I miss her. She was such an inspriration. Maybe she'll come to the RT.

Briee-yes, we will have the plane land in your yard and pick you up :7 Seriously, maybe you could sneak out for the weekend. Try really hard!

Ok, Briee, if Catherine's going, you have to go too. Your kids can survive a weekend without you!

A podcast is something you can download onto an iPod (aka MP3 player - an invention which has changed my life:)). What I did was go on the iTunes website, searched for "yoga" and selected a few free yoga downloads which I imported into my computer and then my iPod. I brought my iPod speaker to the Y, pressed a few buttons, and did a 90-min audio yoga workout in a vacant room with two friends. I can't wait until Cathe comes up with MP3 downloadable workouts - they will be great to take to the gym!

I didn't work out today but plan on doing B&G tomorrow and an UB workout at the Y on Thursday.

Now I haven't committed myself as a for sure for the RT. It's still a maybe. But I agree, if I go Briee must go!!

I did PY4H I forget which one. It was the 55min version LOL!!
I think I also need some relaxing stretching type yoga to go along with this power yoga. Soooooooooooosan, any suggestions?? Oh and I did 1 pullup this evening- just had to throw that in for good measure. It was on a full stomach LOL!!

Tomorrow is B&G. I have a birthday party to go to after work. This will interfere with my w/o sched. Unless I get up early X(

LOL...no Soosan... I think my kids might die without me. This is a BIG maybe, but I mentioned the RT to dh and said...maybe we can visit his brother in PA and I could drive on to the RT and then return. He's happy that I'm actually wanting to go out there and the kids are happy because they want to go to their cousins. Sooooo it's a possibility. I'm a weanie when it comes to leaving home. I love it at home. :7 :7

Meeting you all would be the highlight of the year though!! I have to do B&G today too. My class abandoned me last night and we had B&G scheduled - do you think that's why they abandoned me????

Sooooooooooooosan...cool Ipod. I bought an MP3 player from my oldest ds. I don't have any idea how to use it though. I'll have to learn!!

Briee-That sounds like a great plan. It will be a fun family vacation and you get to ditch for a while and be with all of us! It sounds like a win win situation!

Briee, you HAVE to go! I agree with Joanne that it's a win/win situation. You will NOT regret it if you go, and your husband is very cool to try to figure out a way that will work for you but will also ease your mind about leaving the family. Please? I'm dying to meet you!

Catherine, I never really do restorative yoga other than the last 20 min or so of power yoga workouts. But, now that you mention it, I really enjoy the second half of Yoga X, beginning with tree pose (I think it's chapter 47). There is still crane and other balance postures as well as yoga belly 7, but you could skip those if you want. If you did a search at VF, you'd probably find lots of great recommendations.

Joanne, I'm really glad you're going on the RT and am so excited about meeting A-Jock. She must be a riot. (Another reason for you to go, Briee. Don't you and AJ go way back?)

I just finished B&G....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! (that was a moan of pain). I think I'd rather do Yoga. When one has not DONE leg work in a while, one is quite near death whilst doing this workout - ancient chinese proverb (or at least it should be).x( x( x( x( x(

So this Ipod thing, sounds very cool, but how do you listen to it while doing it with others - can't only ONE of you hear it. Really great that you do this with others - makes it much more fun!!

Briee (I'd be almost as blown away meeting AJ as I would Cathe - I just can't imagine it - something from a dream...I mean neither of them is really REAL right?:7 :p )
 
Briee, way to ease back into leg workouts! }( You are amazing! And I think I've heard of that ancient Chinese proverb.:7 (You always make me laugh out loud.)

Rocky is most definitely going. He went last time and loved it. How about Buckingham? Joanne, would you ask A-Jock if Fiona is out of the slammer and if she's going on the RT?

Waving a quick hello. I did B&G up through and including the stability ball floor work. But then it was time to go to my nephews birthday party. I still got a good workout.

Today is a rest day and the day we see the doggie behavior specialist. Keep your fingers crossed ladies that we get some help!!

Hey Catherine! How are you liking B&G? Are you being fairly consistent with it? If so, have you noticed any results or is it too soon to tell?

I did an UB workout at the Y, including 2 sets/8 reps ea of assisted chins. I loathe them.
